SimGirl20, you're not taking this personally, right?
We can wonder and well, stick to TS2 untill something new and maybe actually good will be released for TS3. The only thing sad - the sims are going to stay butt ugly in the Create a Family and the community lots will probably stay as boring and empty tents.

SimGirl20, I don't think EA are counting on the community to do all the work. I'm pretty sure EA wants less stuff to be done by the community, so they can charge us for every new stuff they add (Sims 3 Store, for example). TS2 stuff packs were pretty awful, the community has made tons of better and pretty outstanding stuff for free, so the stuff packs were not that big of success. I'm pretty sure free awesome creations are kind of standing on EA's way of getting cash from us for their craptastic stuff.
Maybe I'm being too much of a hater, but well, with all the EA's greedyness this is the least I can say.

Mods are making everything more exiting, but unfortunately they can't add too much to the gameplay. I'm pretty much waiting for the new Sims 3 creators, this game screams for new stuff.

The house is truly fabulous. But, Medafire refuses to let me download it =\. If you could upload this house to other hosting it would be awesome. Thanks <3

Isn't that what people have said about TS2 when it first hit the streets world wide? That there isn't any solid game play or interesting stuff to continue playing?

Maybe you are right, but I remember myself getting a whole lot more impressed with TS2 at first when it came out. Overall, TS2 was a major upgrade from TS1 even without the expansion packs.
Even if you take TS3 as the whole new different game - ok, EA can make it different but still a little bit more exiting. I think EA was just too "pressured" with that big costy release, that they didn't take enough time to actually make it whole different but not dissapointing. There could have been some kind of improved re-release, but as usual it will come as some fatass expansion pack costing more than original game.

Well, yesterday I wanted to give the game a try and kinda get used to the way it goes. I got bored after 1.5 hours, while I can play Sims 2 all day.
As it was pointed out before - there's really no connection to the previous sims games at all. Sims 2 is all about really building up a game and a "life" for your sim how do you want it and finding something new every time. Sims 3 is absolutely empty, there's only this stuff at home and "Opportunities". Bo-ring.
And btw, the life span makes no sense at all, they grow up and die like crazy o_o.

I personally think there're some advantages and some major disandvantages in Sims 3.
Customizing tool is absolutely fabulous - you really can customize every little thing and it is awesome. No loading screen is great too, in Sims 2 going somewhere is just suicidal.
But, I've hated so many things. Community lots are crappy - big weird "tents" that you cant even go inside and see, decorate and simply control your sim in there. This no control over the sim in community lot makes the gameplay so much more empty that it already is. The Sims 2 had so much more options in community lot. And now - the only place you can actually see is this crappy absolutely empty park and the graveyard. I was most of all exited for the game to be released to have the whole town and options more accesable and what I see - those empty tents with no options at all.
Maybe it's just me, but I liked Sims 2' create a sim much more. I don't know, they all just look more likeable and unique. Body types are so dissapointing - you can just make them skinny, fat or in between. I thought you can cange bust sizes, legs, but and all those stuff. Nothing special at all. The hair customizing thing is sure awesome, but still - I can hardly imagine adding new meshes and clothing types to the ones in the game. Maybe some programm that will create new meshes for the game will be released, but I don't know. Right now seems like there's only custom sims, lots and patterns can be added.
The gameplay is empty, because of the town "buildings" there's nothing to do at all, and I'm having a really hard time understanding the sim relationships. Seriously, my sims had fallen in love but that's it. Marriage, Children - where? I've never seen the Proposal button at all.
Overall, I'm dissapointed cause I've expected a lot more possibilites and exitement in The Sims 3. I was ready to be impressed and erase Sims 2 because I thought it would be all the same but better. EA were in such a big rush to pull our money out, they didn't fulfill any of the expectations. It's a real shame, let's see how many useless addons and stuff packs they'll release for Sims 3 now - scam scam scam.
