All right, consumerism has finally gotten to me. I've given my money to worse companies (never set foot in a Wal-Mart, though!), and I'm happy with my current trend of things. Get the game, buy a few EPs but not all, and keep playing the old long after you get the new. I like it. I... *sigh* ...am going to buy The Sims 3.
And I don't think the Sims look doughy-faced. They look kinda like me. Okay, maybe they are doughy-faced. But I'll be on the front lines of the mission to turn them into Sims of STEEL!

The fact that he's no longer a power to contend with doesn't matter. The fact that he was ever a power to contend with would be funny if it weren't depressing. I could go on my American Culture rant, but it's three pages long. ...what might fly in France will not cut it in Dubai. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it had been banned here and there for allowing homosexuality.

Custom content is what makes the game so damned good, so that needs to stay in order for me to want it at all, unless they add some adventure to it. Maybe era specific simming?
Good God, sir, I do believe all my dreams have consolidated themselves into one specific idea. It'd probably never happen, though; it's not quite mainstream enough to sell to the unwashed masses. Oh, and hey: imagine all the people who want to get The Sims 3, but don't have any Internet connection at all. It's more common than one would think. They'd spend $60, get home, open it up, install and then the game's all like "Uh-huh. NO." Unless, of course, they got wind of SecuROM somehow or they bothered to look at the min.req.s, in which case that's $60 less for EA. So it seems to be just a bad business decision all around, which is getting less and less surprising as the business world becomes more and more of a cannibalistic, self-mutilating mosh pit. I suspect we're in the midst of a farce. A big, smelly farce.

(And don't forget the complete economic rain-o'-fire-and-brimstone thing.)
The only reason I've been able to get any new computer at all over the past six years or so is mostly windfalls and mooching off my parents. I'm damn lucky to have my own roof over my head, let alone a snazzy Tosh.
Also, I've used Mac, Linux and Windows and I've got to say, Vista's got some really good stuff, but it's got a lot of stuff that just makes me go "What the hell!". My comp came with XP "downgrade" software, and I'm very tempted.

I'd tentatively say yes, because it's a newer series than the min. for both laptops and desktops, and as far as I know, nVidia didn't suddenly do a monkeys-with-typewriters thing for the drivers on any one series.

Reading all this about TSR and SecuROM and things has changed my mind. I'm not giving my money to a company whose lack of business sense is so blatant that even I mumble "shame, shame." Piracy is out of the question, though. Maybe I'll buy it anyways.

'Oh here's an idea, lets make a new sims game, but lets do it without Will Wright or even Maxis... Yeah, I was wondering where that lot got to. I wonder if they even care any more. I miss the ornery mop-top.

...Wow. Now that's a manure pile thar.
I guess it would make some people happy if I were to say I've never even visited TSR, and now I know it's run by stuck-up asshats with a world-domination bent. I'm seeing symptoms of psychopathy in Tom. Seriously.

Hanomaru is just something I smashed out randomly on a keyboard a few years ago when I was coming up with a last name for my other username, Alke, which initially was a forced Anglicization of Aruka, which I came up with when I was 13 by taking the b off Bakura and spelling it backwards (yes, I was obsessed with Yu-Gi-Oh!). I should've registered as Alke, dammit.
My avatar is one of the few pictures on the Internet that actually makes me laugh out loud.
Sympathy on the people-can't-spell-my-name front. I've gotten six different and radically wrong spellings for my last name, and three different pronounciations.
