I would do this:
1) Backup the original hood if you intend to play it ever again. Start the game. 2) Evict them from their original lots; there might be story controllers hidden there. 3) Move them into new houses or even a vacant lot. You can do both families on one lot if you want. 4) Make a note of all their names. 5) From neighborhood view, package the lot by clicking on it. 6) If you're paranoid, quit the game. 7) Clean up the crap: Very important! If you skip this step, you can load all kinds of crap into the 'hood they're moving to. 7a) Open the packaged lot with Clean Installer. 7b) Check "lotsegment" and the Sims listed in step 4. 7c) Uncheck all custom content and any other Sims. 7d) Save with a different name, like "Kat and Kim Clean". 8) Install the house. 9) Start the game if you quit in step 6. 10) Switch to the new 'hood. 11) Select and place the lot. 12) If you want the original hood back, quit the game and restore from the back up in step 1.
Whatever you do, do not place the lot in the original 'hood. That's even worse than skipping step 7.
Mods: sorry about the large red type, but it was important!

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Sims 2 eyes from generation to generation

I'm jealous of the first situation. I deliberately make CAS "parents" with recessive traits like light blue eyes and red hair, then "breed" them in BodyShop to create the Sim I'm actually going to play to give recessive variety to their kids. As far as I know, brown and dark blue eyes are both dominant to light blue (and custom is dominant to everything else), and Sims created in CAS are homozygous (have 2 identical copies of the expressed gene) unless you use my trick.
Do you have, accidentally or on purpose, the hack that makes all Maxis eyes equally dominant? You still shouldn't have got eyes that don't match either parent, but it would be a partial explanation.
Another silly question: are your light blue eyes custom (rather than default) and not geneticized?
Rather than going through all the trouble of actually having babies, you can try different combos in CAS using the pacifier. It's slightly different from the game, especially in face mixing, but it should give you some idea what's going on with the eyes!

Me too, Katie! I slap down all my "friends" who post snarky comments about ObamaCare. Most of them have either stopped or cut down on the snarkiness.
Remember that stupid "Don't feed the animals" sign that was making the rounds with the snarky comment about food stamps? Slapped that one down with "I have a question for you. I don't want to know the answer, but I want to know you know. What happens to your family if you suddenly drop dead or are hurt or disabled and can't work?"

I haven't seen nurses in dress-style uniforms since my mom retired in 1985!
I'm still wondering how to set up a pharmacy... a small one that just does prescriptions and OTC meds and health related items. I guess you could sell the "potions" to cure the various Sim diseases and paranormal conditions and maybe some knicknacks.

This looks pretty damn good, my only regret is that I don't have all the EPs and SPs so I don't think I could use it w/o having to do something extra first.
If you have AL, you should be able to install it with Clean Installer. AL changed something in packaged lots so you have to have AL to install anything created with it or any later EP. Looks good!

If your kid is old enough (I've been gone a long time, so I don't know), he or she can start learning by making ants on a log. Celery stalk, fill with peanut butter or cream cheese, raisins stuck on top. Leftover idea: shepherd's pie: chop any meat and veg together, mix with gravy, put in a baking pan (quantities and size depend on how many people), smooth out and cover with a layer of mashed or chopped potatoes. Doesn't look like the original meal, so it's not the "same old." BTW, these look quite yummy: No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter CookiesFiguring out what to make for lunch. We need a recipes for Katie thread....
