91  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Secret Society Lot Won't Load on: August 26, 2011, 04:15:24 pm
Really obvious question: since it's a custom University, did  you add a SS lot?  Have any of your Sims been there before?
92  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF These 8 things 1 FOUND on: August 25, 2011, 08:36:50 pm
Start with http://blog.daum.net/saublog, since one item is from Sims Artists Union!

Didn't see any of your wants on a quick look through, but there's nice stuff you'd probably like.
93  Simmers' Paradise / Clothing & Body Mesh's / Re: Convert this AM mesh to CM & TM on: August 25, 2011, 08:35:14 pm
Normal maps are not meshing.  You just do the bodyshop thing, then modify the grayscale image, not the colored one, not the b&w one.  Lighter bits "stick out," darker bits "suck in."  If you put lighter bits under those painted on pockets and a darker bit just above them, they'd bulge out quite realistically.

Nice job on the recolor!  If your video card and the mesh can handle normal/bump maps, you might want to add one so you can give the color and pocket trim a 3d effect without changing the mesh.

Sorry I don't have the skills to convert the mesh for you.

Sending good thoughts!
96  Simmers' Paradise / Mods & Careers / Re: Parental rights are not removed forever by the social worker. on: August 22, 2011, 02:08:39 pm
One time, I had a child taken away for hopelessly low Social need.  The adult sister "adopted" her and I fixed up the relationships with SimPE.

I think the adoption ban is to prevent "bad" parents from inflicting themselves on children that they didn't give birth to.  Would be very nice if they could get their own back, even if they aren't Family Sims.
97  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Books keep disappearing on: August 21, 2011, 06:08:06 pm
Yes, there are hacks that can cause books to disappear when your Sims try to put them down.  They're intended to keep the house cleaner while the Sims are skilling, and many probably haven't been updated to deal with custom books and Sim-authored novels.  Once you narrow it down, see if there's an FT compatible version.

Yes, bigger lots are slower than smaller lots, usually because they've got more stuff on them.   You can either play smaller lots,  figure out which stuff makes a bad situation worse (like the Energizer) or learn to ignore the slowness.
99  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF: Servo Sim at CAS? on: August 20, 2011, 07:08:09 pm
Or you can just download a ready to play Servo on a vacant lot and move them in with your family....
100  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Sims 2 HBB Hairy Skintones on: August 20, 2011, 08:41:55 am
Skintones: Check Jwilson5's section here and at the adult site.

SimPE equivalent:  There are Mac utilities that perform parts of the SimPE functions.  I have a headache, so I phail at Google.
101  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF: Servo Sim at CAS? on: August 20, 2011, 08:36:07 am
I'm assuming you want a human looking Servo.  You could create your "servo" in BodyShop or CAS for an unused neighborhood, build  your Servo in game, then use SimSurgery to make your Servo look like the one you created.
102  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF - Mod to avoid clothing in inventory on: August 20, 2011, 08:33:06 am
Somewhere, I saw a utility (separate program, not in-game), that deletes all the clothing from the household wardrobe.  Once you play the house again, it would repopulate with only the clothing the resident Sims are wearing.  I'm thinking Mootilda, but I'm not 100% sure.
103  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Need help with The Sims 2? on: August 19, 2011, 12:01:37 pm
True, but there are a few Maxis objects (and more poorly made downloads) that throw errors for no good reason.  Odds are, the Sim will still "jump" to indicate the errors even with debug off.

To the OP: do  you have a log file you could post?
104  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: A question about moving sims on: August 19, 2011, 05:29:47 am
You can move your houses (without the Sims) by packaging them from the neighborhood screen, then removing everything but the lot segment with CleanInstaller.
105  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Need help with The Sims 2? on: August 19, 2011, 05:27:35 am
Error message: are  you playing with testingcheatsenabled  on?  If so, turn it off!

Downloads: That's not a lot of downloads.  You can try moving (not deleting) your downloads to a safe place.  If that doesn't speed it up, it's not your downloads!

Slowness: It's possible your computer as a whole is slowing down and it's showing up in the game first.  Try doing a ScanDisk and Defrag.
