31  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / BREAKING NEWS: TSR INSTALLS SPYWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER! on: July 20, 2009, 08:39:20 pm
We bring you the shocking news of the latest TSR atrocity: SPYWARE AND VIRII!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so have at it.
32  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Story Progression - what is it? on: July 13, 2009, 07:19:22 am
So will we not be able to import custom pics into the game like as in S2 through mods,
I dont understand what exactly you are trying to say.
Well, in TS2, you could paint custom pictures in the base game and early expansions by swapping the screenshot file before the sim started painting it after painting a still life. Later on, the facility to directly paint those paintings was added.

In TS3, you simply can't, you can only paint the premade paintings in the game.

At least his name suits him.

Oh, he said he, "fell in love with being able to paint in the game." In other words, I think the idiot liked the fact that you could put files into the painting folder in game and actually get your sim to paint custom pictures... When the word "idiot" comes to mind, so does his name...
Not even that, really. The facility to paint custom pictures does not, in fact, exist in any form by any chicanery in TS3. Tongue
35  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Homeless Sims on: July 06, 2009, 04:50:54 am
I don't see what the big deal with "homeless sims" is. All I see is ineptitude of play, either because the player sucks, or because they're doing it for the lulz. The fact of the matter is that being homeless is the DESIRED state for a freshly made sim, and homes represent a luxury item for those who have more than a lousy 16K to burn, as 16K doesn't buy a house worth a damn. As substandard equipment in TS3 is actually harmful to your sims, you are better off simply roughing it without the "benefit" of these harmful, negative-moodlet-inflicting items until you can afford a real house.

"Story Progression" is the game's name for "random crazy sIII that happens purely because the game says so". None of these things are actually happening, the game just decides, "BAM, you're <insert random crazyarse event here>", and sticks it on sims in other households. Including yours. Crazyarse events include suddenly becoming fat, dying, being fired or moved to random jobs, receives a parthenogenetic clone-baby, or being disintegrated from the neighborhood.

Admin note: Even you are subject to the no swearing Pes, you naughty boy! Cheesy
37  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: My recommendation is to Hold off on the game on: June 14, 2009, 06:16:26 pm
In your family, you bite anyone that is near you so that's no proof of safety, that's proof of massively aggressive tendencies that in animals would be taken care of by spaying/neutering. Hey, works on cats and dogs! Cheesy
Yes, but we're specifically trained to bite strangers that try to touch us. Anyone who would want to touch someone else's kid is a pedophile and deserves to be bitten. Plus, being that we are specifically bred for combat, aggressive tendencies are part of the bill.
38  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: My recommendation is to Hold off on the game on: June 14, 2009, 11:07:10 am
BUT, there are some things they could stand to be improved on that won't require immediate attention. I've read about issues people had with stolen children and wondered why their beta testers or guests at that creator's camp thing did NOT catch this bug in the first place?? Who did they hire to test the game - monkeys?
Well, to be fair, if you look at the actual guest list of the creator's camp, most of them are morons and other assorted lackwits. EAxis would hardly have invited a crowd of smart people. Smart people wouldn't have told them what they wanted to hear. You will note how easily they succumbed to EAxian brainwashing and quickly turned to regurgitating the party line.

And let's face it: Child abduction essentially represents a corner case of gameplay to begin with: This happened in TS2, too, and mostly wasn't noticed because who the hell lets random strangers handle their kids? In my fambly, we're taught to bite anyone who tries it.
39  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Lets Play Nice About Sims 3 on: June 05, 2009, 08:37:07 pm
I dunno, "not giving money to EA" doesn't have to mean anything, really. Pirate Cat doesn't pay for his downloads.
40  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: I'm I the only one who would rather just keep playing sims 2. on: June 05, 2009, 05:49:57 am
My suggestion is that you wait. There is little that this game offers over TS2 at this point, if you already have a fully-functioning TS2 game. TS3 may be what I am pulling apart right now, but TS2 is still the game to actually PLAY.
41  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The Sims 3 DRM! on: June 03, 2009, 05:42:06 pm
Just like Ubisoft did with The Prince of Persia for pc: we give you no DRM to prove you are pirates by making the game as unattractive as possible for pc players (DLC for consoles only, release date pushed behind console release and unexcusable condescention and indifference towards the customers who made this game successful in the first place on the official site).
They did succeed in one thing, though. The fact of that the game was utterly crap meant I didn't pirate it at all, despite the lack of DRM. Not that DRM has ever stopped Pirate Cat. Of course, I didn't buy it, either, because it was CRAP. The lesson: Crappy games have nothing to fear from pirates.

even MATY has changed its hate opinion and has scrambled all over the sims3 store stuff
Pah, only the noobs say that. The rest of us are still firmly in dislike mode.
43  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: So I've sampled the actually LEGAL game... on: May 31, 2009, 03:54:08 am
As to the legalities, check out a certain MATY thread. Also, a friend of mine owned a store that sold games and videos. He told me that if he let the stuff go out the store before the publisher said it could, he could be fined up to $250,000 and lose his business. I believe that pertains nationwide. Also, this is EA and do you really believe they won't bust chops for selling before the moment they dictate that you can? Just asking.
It's not really selling if the manager is taking the copy home for himself. And whether or not the game is "legal" does not change the content of something. If anything, being legal makes it worse, because everyone knows stolen food tastes the best.
44  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Who's going to get the The Sims 3? on: May 30, 2009, 02:18:44 am
Erm....maybe you should read up on recent threads concerning CC, because TSR has a custom content tool that will be released to the community free of charge once the game is released.
No, TSR has a mockup of a custom content tool. It doesn't actually do content any more than the mockups of Duke Nukem Forever let you play Duke Nukem Forever.

Investment in a shrink wrap machine may be the best purchase you've made in awhile.
