4  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Weird problem on: August 11, 2009, 09:43:31 am
I had a weird problem yesterday with Sims 3. I couldn't play at my usual  resolution {the highest} but only at the next one down. Today it is back to normal. I have Sim detail set to high and lowering this yesterday made no difference. Any ideas why this would happen and then be OK again? I would love to know in case it happens again.

Also, since I installed the 1.4 patch my Sims sometimes get stuck when serving food. They still move about but have their hand in the "holding a plate position". One of mine was cleaning a Counter like this. It was irritating but funny. To get them out of it I have to make them open the Fridge. This fixes it. Any ideas why this should happen? It never happened before I installed the patch and I have added no mods or hacks since then.

7  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Re: how do you load a backup town file from the saves folder on: July 10, 2009, 03:24:27 am
What System do you have? Windows or Mac? With Windows you just right click on the file and you get a menu come up. Scroll down to rename near the bottom of the menu and click on it. Delete the original file first.
I have done this more than once and it worked perfectly.

I have a family called Boston in my game. The file that the game uses is called SunsetValleyJackBoston.sims 3 The back up file is called SunsetValleyJackBoston.sims3.backup. All you do to make the game use the back up file is delete the first file and then rename the back up file. You just delete the word backup off the end of the file name. Then the game will use the back up file. I know this works because I have done it.

My daughter and I are playing this and have a question. We have a Sim in the Military Career and when he changes into his uniform his hair, normally dark, changes to a light red color. When he changes out of uniform it goes back to dark again. Any idea why--or how we could fix this?

15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Upside down movies on: March 21, 2009, 11:40:28 am
I have had a problem for some time with Sims 2 movies made in the game playing back upside down. I have now solved this problem myself and wondered it any one else needs help, Grin as i couldn't get help anywhere and had to do it myself.  You need the vp6_decoder.exe from On2 Technologies. Run it and select repair. In my case I had the codecs but had somehow or otherr lost the drivers.   rolleyes     Grin
