TA Sadie, I have added a link to this post in the first post of the thread.

I am so glad that I have decided not to add any new TS2 EPs or STuff Packs to my game. What EAxis unleashed with K&B and, subsequently, with IKEA is unconscionable. The problems caused by these two interim packs have nothing to do with our in game hacks. They are just untested and, consequently, horribly flawed.

If you click on the ground you should see "spawn." When you click on "spawn" the menu for the InSIM will come up and you can choose which section to "spawn" and use. Otherwise, all of the sections for the InSIM will be available under electronics to buy. "Spawning" is the easier way!

I am wondering if the blurb warning that the patch may not work with existing lots is the cause for the non-functioning problems. In any case, I am becoming increasingly "over" EA (if increasingly is even a possibility).

I have looked at Apt Life and so far am not in the least impressed. As I said, I am not buying into EP8 so I am not interested in further patching my game. Besides, from what I have read, Inge Jones has hacks that create apt living (without the need for the inevitable, additional patches...She does things right the first time!). I am off to Simlogical to investigate.

Kisses, Sadie! I am posting the link the non-EA fixes in the first post.

So what, in fact, is this patch suppoesed to fix? And what does the "phoning home" supposedly mean? Are we putting ET's on our PCs with this patch. I am still pissed off that I added the first patch as that was a typical Maxis snafu all by itself. I am not D/Ling the new patch. TA Sadie for the heads up!

EDIT:I just checked the new patch. It is competley confusing. I really don't see any difference between what is being offered now and what was released and removed from D/L two monthes ago. The only addition may be a fix for K&B that Lord Darcy fixed long ago. Otherwise, why do I think that they are just updating the malware that they are infecting us with? Since I already have the last patch on my PC, and have no intention of adding any new EP, I will definitely pass on this one.

Sadie, what does that mean: Restore skin.package? I never removed the damn patch and have been playing with it in my game.
25  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Need help with FreeTime on: April 14, 2008, 03:53:18 pm
The most obvious question is: do you have CC enabled in your game? I have not used the OBJ InSIM in a while. I believe that its sections should show in the electronics catalog. If not try the "all objects" catalog (infinity symbol).

I am not 100% certain where Inge's mods show in the catalog. You should direct any Simlogical question to that Site.

That said, you should not be using the InSIM with FT as it is not compatible and may cause unseen and irreversible harm to your game. If you insist on using the InSIM with FT no one on this SITE will be able to help you. Caveat emptor!

I have had the same problem since I don't know when, probably OFB but maybe even before.

Each time I remove and then replace the TS2 EP disc I wait and wait and wait. I have always, it seems, had to double click on the desk top icon for the game to finally get going. I have VISTA so I don't know if that's the cause. I don't seem to remember having this with XP.

If I don't need the CD-Rom for anything I just leave the current version of TS2 in the bay. Then all I have to do is double click!
28  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Can't get my family back home from vacation on: April 13, 2008, 03:07:45 pm
Since you don't have FT installed the BV InSIm should be working fine with your game. If you use the InSIM to delete family members you will also use the InSIM to restore them. I am groggy on which section will do this. You will have to play a bit to find the right one. Remember to leave at least one family member present after deleteing the others.

I am thinking that if this does not work you you might try deleting all the family member at the same time and then exiting and saving the lot. Deleting all at once may cause the lot to crash. I am not sure. Also deleting all and then saving and exiting may render the lot unplayable. But what choices do you have?

I am still hoping that someone more knowledgeable than I will read this thread and help with a more promising solution.

The new patch should overwrite the current FT (failure time) patch.

Sadie, I think with the patch installed the car freeze has been worse.

Big lots take a bit longer to load. Pre-patch my game took about 7 or 8 minutes from start up to neighborhood screen. Entering a lot took about 2 to 3 minutes more. Now it takes almost 15 minutes for the same play. I have loads of D/Ls (of course). At this time I have 4.4 GIGS of D/Ls!

My PC is far from anemic. It is 4.6 GHZ, 2 Gigs of RAM, ATI 1650 Pro. All I can say is GRRRRRRR!
