1  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Seeking Recolors for Simlogical's Auto Drapes on: June 02, 2011, 06:51:01 pm
I need some help finding some recolors for
Simlogical's/Inge's Auto Drapes

Mermaid Cove used to have a set of about 50 different colors for the drapes, however, it appears she has closed up shop.  I have searched at MTS2 and have found a couple of recolors by Alias and lots of recolors for the shades, but I'm needing more colors for the drapes themselves.

My Google searches have also come up with very little results, and I'm hoping someone from here can help me out with some links to some recolors they've come across.

Thanks in advance!

This was a request from Lewisb40 here.

You will need to retrieve the meshes from the Reflexsims forums here:

Figaro Black

The link provided in the request thread was working for me but now it's not.  If you have trouble, try waiting a little while and try again.

The recolors come in two flavors.  One is a floral print and one was an attempt at something more masculine.  But...I'm liking it in the feminine setting.  :-P

Floral

Masculine

Yes, I'd love to share what I've done at other sites.  Please don't take it for granted, if you would like to upload my items to other sites, ask me.  It may take a little while to get back to you, but you've got a 99.999% chance I'll do it.  Just don't take it and upload it without asking first.  That ain't cool. 3  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / Hillcrest Point on: June 18, 2008, 11:52:15 am
This house was requested by: Farklemeister .  One thing I forgot to mention with my last upload…my bad!  I have all EPs through Seasons.

House Specifics:

Cost: 132,706 Simoleans
Lot Size: 5X6
Baths: 4.5
Bedrooms: 4 Suites
Two Garages
Pool
Billiard Room
Laundry/Utility Room

The house is completely unfurnished and is not landscaped.  Therefore, it is merely a shell of a house with windows.  Time to let your imagination and your custom content take over!

Required Custom Content:

The windows & door items are required as they contribute strongly to the overall look of the house.

Included Custom Content:

ModTheSims2:   Tiggy027 Metro Windows Set.  Special thanks to Tiggy for making this very versatile set for free & for allowing it to be freely distributed with lots.  Thanks!

Auronette (me):  Putty Stucco with Faux Garage Doors.  Set includes 5 custom walls.

Auronette (me):  I've included another file in this thread.  It is a Photoshop file with layers for the Faux Garage Doors that I made.  Since many of you will want to use an alternate color than the one the house is downloaded with, I've given this file so that you can change the paint color on the Garage Door surrounding walls to match the color you need.  Feel free to redistribute this file with any houses which utilize the walls.

Custom Content NOT Included but Required:

sims2graveyard.com[/URL] FORMER PAY Items from Sims2Luxe.  This site has now closed but the items are available for download from the graveyard.  The Graveyard site was down at the time of this documentation, however keep trying as it comes and goes.  You’ll need the following items:

Sims2Luxe Arch001, Arch 001 & Door 001 and recolor for arches and doors.

The Sims Resource: PAY ITEM Cyclonesue…Alpine Loft Window Set

MTS2: Invisible driveway and extension by:  roddyaleixo
REQUIRED...Invisible Driveway & Extensions

Known Issues:

The house was play tested for about 3 sim days, and the issues listed here are ones that are common with this type of housing design.  If you should happen to find any other problems that I did not, please post here so that I can fix and update the file.  Thanks!

As with all sideways driveways and extensions, the animations for the car leaving and entering the lot will be a bit jumpy.  The garage on the right side of the lot is a faked garage.  When I tested the lot, the cars were still able to come and go from the faked garage even though the doors did not actually exist on it.

A couple of the walls in the kitchen area are diagonal and when I tested the lot I did have some Sims yelling about the angling of the countertops.  To avoid this you may want to make sure the fridge is directly next to one of the slots that are not diagonally placed.  This should prevent their incessant wailing. =D

The method used for linking the garage to the house is one that does leave the walls warped in places.  The Stucco paint I used was easily suited for camouflaging the areas, however, if you’re thinking it’s as fugly as I find it to be, you’ll undoubtedly wish to change it.  You may wish to try paints or wallpapers that are not strongly patterned or you may get some decorative plants large enough to cover these areas.

4  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / Hemmingford Home on: June 01, 2008, 11:26:35 pm
This house was requested by: RedRoseTea.  I saw it and I wanted it for myself so I decided to give it a shot.  This is the result of the attempt.

House Specifics:

Lot size: 5x5
Cost: 297,000 Simoleans Shocked  (Unfurnished is 75,000)
Bedrooms: 4
Baths: 4.5

It comes in two versions:

One is fully furnished with just about everything your sim needs for studying and having fun.  There is NO custom content actually included, but there are three custom items in the house.  The washer & dryer set, the recolor for the set (this one by me and included), and an invisible recolor for the driveway.  See the credits for links to these items as, again, they are NOT included in the download here.  Everything else is by Maxis.

The second version is completely empty.  For me, 99% of the fun is decorating the place yourself. Finding just the right look for you...  So I offer you the unfurnished version so that you can experience that joy yourself.

Known Issues:

The house was play tested for about 3 sim days, and the issues listed here are ones that are common with this type of housing design.

As with all sideways driveways and extensions, the animations for the car leaving and entering the lot will be a bit jumpy.  The flowers I planted on the driveway gave me no trouble with the cars being used, however if you have trouble with your sims being able to leave the lot while using the car, try removing the flowers and see if that corrects it.

Due to the shear number of countertop surfaces and fridges, and the way sims loose their minds, you may want to check out Simlogical's "Eating and Serving Controller" located here: Eating & Serving Controller by Inge_Jones.  It is a mod that allows you to set which room the sim should eat in and at what time they should be using the room.  That way you can set the breakfast meal to be eaten in the nook in the kitchen and the dinner meal to be eaten in the formal dining area or even make it so that they will serve their barbequed meal on the porch out back.  I highly recommend this product and have never had any difficulties with it.

Since this is a home with very large bedrooms and these bedrooms have seating surfaces, you may find that your guests will invade your living spaces.  This activity irritates me, so I usually just set all the doors to "Allow Household Only."  You do need the Open for Business expansion to set the doors, or you can try one of the mods available at Simlogical for that as well.  Inge has several specialized doors that will allow for you to specify who is allows in the room and who is not.  Get them here:  Keyed Doors

Conversely, you may want to check out the folks at More Awesome than You...commonly referred to as Maty.  JM Pescado has another mod called "Authorized Personnel Only" which also allows you to control who enters a room.  Get it here:  Authorized Personnel Only

These two mods will conflict with each other as they control the same behaviors, so make sure you read about them thoroughly before you decide which will work best for you.

A couple of the walls in the kitchen area are diagonal and I had to use some cheats to place counters along the walls.  Since the items overlap, there is some bleeding, but it doesn't seem too awful.  Especially at the angle I play at.  If it bothers you, try removing the offending counters and running the kitchen without the counters on those diagonal walls.

The method used for linking the garage to the house is one that does leave the walls warped in places.  I have covered these warped areas with some creeping vines.  If you prefer not to have the vines, select another wall pattern that is less noticeable.

Recommended mods:

As mentioned above I highly recommend Simlogical's Eating & Serving Controller.

As far as the doors, I've used mods from both of these great modders and have had great results so, it'll be a matter of compatibility and preference for you.

Christianlov has put his/her All-in-One mod back up at Modthesims2.  Yay, yay and yay again! :-P This is one of the best mods I've ever tried and am so glad to see it is once again available for download.  This mod will allow you to have a 24 hour maid and or nanny.  With a home this big and with sims rich enough to afford them, you'll want to have them to deal with all the messes.  There is even a capability for them to handle broken items and do the gardening. Get it here:  All-In-One NPC by Christianlov Please be aware that at the writing of this read me file, Christianlov has marked the file to be "unsupported."

5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Got SecuRom? Get relief. on: October 04, 2007, 04:56:13 pm
As many of you are aware, EA's The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, which was recently released, came with an anti-piracy software called SecuRom attached.  This program was not listed in any of the documentation available prior to installation, nor is there any option given to you to skip it's inclusion during the installation process.  Therefore, it installs on your system without knowledge or consent.

There are many conflicting opinions on what this program will and will not do, but it is a potentially problematic software, that cannot be uninstalled without messing around in your registry files and/or reformatting your hard drive.

EA stickied a post regarding SecuROM earlier yesterday morning.  The post made by MaxoidVanquish (aptly named) gave lots of links to Sony's website for SecuRom, but offered absolutely no official means of getting the program off of our systems.  Instead we were told that removal was not recommended as other EA titles might require it's use.  Little consideration for those of us who don't want the program, nor do they want any of EA's games on their system anymore.  This is not a good thing. EA's response to the situation is located here:

Bon Boyage and SecuROM Update!

If you feel that their actions warrant some form of legal action, or even just want to get your money back for the game and/or any damage caused to your system, then I strongly suggest that you contact the appropriate agencies in your area for assistance.

Here are a few links which may be useful to you.  Remember to read their suggestions carefully before deciding on your course of action.  I'm by no means an attorney of any sort, but there may be implications in which way you proceed.  If in doubt, talk to a lawyer directly before committing to a course of action.  You may find many referral agencies in your area that offer low/no cost consultations.  So, utilize them if needed.

What is SecuRom? by Beosboxboy

Celesta92059 has also graciously decided to post as much information as possible regarding this issue in her guestbook at the EA BBS.  The link to the main site is:  http://thesims2.ea.com/  I don't want to give the direct link on this his/her guestbook, as EA is doing everything in their power to hide this whole issue from the eyes that glance their site.  There have been many locked and deleted threads and all posts regarding SecuRom have been moved to the Technical Forums, where they are making their final push to reclaim the boards.

So, please, if you feel strongly about this, take action. Let the company know that their behavior is unacceptable and that, as paying customers, we're not going to take their deceptive and dismissive practices lightly.

Thanks for reading!

6  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Women / As Requested...College T Shirt on: July 17, 2007, 10:23:21 pm
This was requested by jersey441 who wanted a grey t-shirt with white block lettering and a Carolina Blue outline.

I have two versions available for download.  The first one is a seperate and can be worn with any of Hp's untucked slouchy pants.  You'll need the meshes from here in order for my recolors to appear in your game.  You'll need both the AF top and either of the slouchy pants available.  That just depends if you want barefeet or boots.

The second version available for download uses Hp's Comfysleepwear mesh located here.  The second version is a full outfit which is available as gymwear, sleepwear and everyday wear.

More great stuff from HystericalParoxysm can be found here.

Have fun!!!

8  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / Razor's Edge on: July 12, 2007, 03:31:47 pm
This was a request from FallenAngel86 who wanted a large nursery home.

Right, ok, bad news first so you can turn back now if you’re no longer interested.

NOTE: Items from the Seasons EP were used making this house. Please be sure you either have Seasons or that you use clean installer to install this home.

KNOWN ISSUES:

One issue known to me and that is, when viewing the lot from neighborhood view, there appears to be a wall missing on the top floor right-hand side. This appears to me to be a graphical issue only and may be isolated to my graphics card/set up. As you can see in the screenshots, this problem is not occurring in the lot itself. I have play tested the lot and found no weird happenings in regards to the missing wall from neighborhood view. If you do encounter problems with this lot, please let me know.

The second issue is that of warped walls in the garage area. The technique used to build the house with the garage attached to it warped the walls where the two connect therefore patterned walls will display with distortion. I have hidden these behind some benches and foliage. To minimize the effect without the use of the benches and foliage, try using a wall color without patterns on it.

The house is a large house requiring the use of large amounts of computer resources. Just a warning to you now so you can turn back if you think your system can’t handle it. Smiley

UNFURNISHED VERSION:

Neighborhood lot size reads 4 x 5 (inside lot says 50 x 50)
Price $83,439
6 Bedrooms--Up to 8 possible by utilizing the study and formal dining areas.
5 full baths and 2-- 1/2 baths (because we all know Sim bladders run at half empty)

Other features include a small fishing pond, modest landscaping, a covered porch, 2-car garage with work area perfect for crafting, lighting and neutral colored interior.

No custom content and no furnishings/plumbing of any kind are provided with this version.

FURNISHED VERSION:

Neighborhood lot size reads 4 x 5 (inside lot says 50 x 50)
Price $87,485
3 bedrooms--Up to 5 possible by utilizing the study and formal dining areas.
3 Nursery Suites
2 full baths and 2--1/2 baths

The top floor of the house has one large bath and two regular bedrooms which can be utilized by adults or teens. It also boasts three larger nursery rooms.

I have tried to limit the number of babies per room to no more than three. I have done this in an attempt to circumvent the problems one can experience when one infant wakes up screaming, the rest of the group tend to follow suit. I figure 3 is better than 12. LOL Adjacent to each of the nursery rooms are caregiver centers which house a compactor, changing tables, sinks and fridges for faster retrieval of bottles.

The rooms are designed in such a way that remodeling for transition of the infants to toddlers and later to children has been simplified slightly. Just take out the nursery furniture and place beds and plumbing fixtures in their places. If you're in need of a little more privacy, replace the open arches with regular doors and you're up and running without having to fight with yourself over where you want to add/remove a wall.

The ground floor hosts a generous sized master suite, study, living area, formal dining area, breakfast nook, kitchen, laundry room, open foyer, and two 1/2 baths.

Other features include a small fishing pond, modest landscaping, a covered porch, 2-car garage with work area perfect for crafting.

There are no custom objects included in this download.

Recolor used in furnishing this lot ARE INCLUDED per creator policy.

The bottom floor follows the plan pretty closely, but the top floor has been modified by me.

IMPORTANT REAL ESTATE DISCLOSURE:

History of the house…

Jerome Blakenship, of the NJ Blakenships, and his wife, Eliane, purchased this home in the late fall of 2002. They lived happily in the home for years before strange things began to happen. Often, as was his way, Jerome would head out to the back yard and gaze lovingly at the stars in the skies overhead. He was a “Knowledge” Sim after all and studying the stars was one of his favorite pastimes. He would ponder for hours as he did so if there was in fact “life out there.” One evening, Jerome found the answer to that age old question when out of nowhere a huge beam of light swallowed him up.

During his absence, Jerome was subjected to many different tests and various tortures and when he was returned, he discovered that he was with child! He had the child and shortly afterwards was again abducted and returned with child. At first Jerome dealt with the problem very admirably by accepting what had happened and even, dare I say, enjoying it slightly as now he knew the answers to many questions which had been hidden to him previously. But after he was abducted repeatedly and impregnated a record breaking 12 times, Jerome began to experience severe panic attacks that were triggered by merely glancing upon his children. Apparently, they caused memories of the abduction and torture to arise within him. He was now terrified of them. Late one evening he ran out of the house into the darkness screaming loudly. He was never heard from again. No one knows what happened to him. Some say he merely changed his name and is currently living in the Veronaville province. Others glance towards the sky when they speak his name…

Eliane clung desperately to the hope that her husband would return to her and so she tried to hold down the fort without him. She tended to the infants and worked hard, but being an abandoned wife and caring for the house and 12 infants soon took its toll. The nanny found Eliane, collapsed from sheer exhaustion, on the kitchen floor of the home. Although medical help was called, Eliane succumbed to her exhaustion and the Grim Reaper took her away. Her 12 children were immediately spirited away by the social worker and put up for adoption that very day.

Unfortunately, Elaine’s simple and sweet nature left her more concerned with tending her family than tending the bills so the life insurance policy she owned was cancelled due to lack of payment. The bank has come in and taken possession of the home and is now selling it at a drastically reduced price.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

The use of non-autonomous fridges or global hack will be very useful in keeping the Sims from trying to make meals using the fridges in the nursery rooms.

Locking the Master Suite to visitors will keep them from trying to shortcut through the room or from sitting on the small couch in that room as it has a higher attraction level than the one in the living area.

This is the longest post I think I’ve ever made. If you’ve read this far, congratulations and thanks!

Enjoy!

African Prints--Veronaville Quilting Bee Finalist

These were a request from Lewisb40.  They are recolors of the Veronaville Quilting Bee Finalist mesh that came with the Seasons Ep.  Therefore Seasons is REQUIRED for my recolors to appear in your game.

There are three patterns in total and each screen shot is titled with the name of the print and, for ease in grabbing the correct file, the rars are also named with the appropriate title.

Hope you enjoy them!

13  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / As Requested...Book from Hocus Pocus on: July 07, 2007, 08:18:47 pm
This was requested by Ryanarda.  Included in this post are two recolor files of basically the same item.  The only difference between the two recolors is that one has an open eye on the cover and the other has a closed eye.  Both are pictured in the screenshot.  The necessary mesh file is also posted for your convenience.

Credits:

The link to the original mesh seems to not be working, and I obtained the mesh from MTS2...Books..

The profile for the original creator, bienchen83, states "I hope you’ll enjoy my downloads. Feel free to recolor them, post the mesh on your site together with you recolor, but please give credit. You may include my files in uploaded lots without credit."

I'd also wish to credit the creator of the photograph used for the recolor, but it was hosted at imageshack and I am unable to determine who exactly I should credit. So...unless someone can point it out for me, it's unknown. Photo image used.

UPDATE:

Adding another file which has a blue overlay on the closed eye package.

14  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Women / Converse style options for HP's Slouchy Pants on: June 16, 2007, 06:56:10 am
Just a couple of Converse style options for HystericalParoxysm’s Fanseefem Casuals - Untuckable Shirts + Slouchy Jeans... for the Laydeez found here.  You'll need the meshes for these to work.

These come with four different options.  One for the tucked version with boots, one for the tucked version that’s barefoot, one for the un-tucked version with boots and lastly one for the un-tucked version that’s barefoot.  I figured some people might not want the bulky look the boots provide.  All come with a Maxis jeans recolor by me.

Boots:

Barefoot:

There are a couple of flaws in them, for instance, the line trimming on the side soles of the boot versions warp towards the back of the shoe.  This seems to be in the mapping of the shoes and I’m no where advanced enough to even attempt to correct this, but it’s not too awful noticeable at average playing distances.

Feel free to recolor my texture and pass them along to any FREE site.  All I ask is that you at least try to remember to credit back to this thread for the time it took for me to figure out the shoes.  (did I mention I hate shoes…) :smt106

To install, just copy the package files to your downloads folders.

Enjoy!

15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Need Help Restoring Lots on: May 18, 2007, 06:49:07 am
Ok, it's been a little while since I've installed Seasons and I decided to play Pleasantview again and visit my old Sims. So I made a copy of the N001 folder from the backup of My Documents/EA Games that I made prior to the install and I pasted it over the N001 folder in the new EA Games folder and booted up my game.

All is not as expected...  My families appear to all be there, however the lots are all wrong.  For instance, I had made dramatic changes/additions to the Pleasant household during the time I played the family, but when I went onto their lot after the install/pasting of my N001 folder, the house appeared as it had when I first initiated play in that lot.  It's not just the Pleasants, but every other Maxis lot.  Even the ones with custom families.  Is there a way to restore the homes back to the way "I" had them using the folders from my backup or am I out of luck on this one?
