1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / community lot frozen with sim on it on: February 14, 2009, 04:20:29 am
I have a community lot that is frozen, no live mode, but build mode available. I can't access the house/lot where the sim lived who went to the community lot that is now frozen. The game just keeps telling me that a family member from this lot is visiting a community lot. But the community lot can't be run in live mode, because I get the message that a saved game is in progress???

Anybody have any clue how to solve this problem? Short of moving the sim out of the virtual space and into a house using Insim, I can't find a way to save the house he was occupying and the community lot. Can't bulldoze them either strangely enough. Weird.

8 floor block. 8 two bed apartments.

No custom content, and I had all the expansion packs installed when I created this, except Uni. Enjoy Smiley
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Bon Voyage/Apartment Life Problem on: October 10, 2008, 11:04:11 am
Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this problem I've having with Bon Voyage since I installed AL.

Basically, this happens: I get the sim to purchase a vacation lot, then send him on holiday. But he never arrives. The vacation home goes into build mode. When I come back out of it and back to the neighbourhood of the original sim, he's missing. He's not at home and not at the vacation home either. The same thing happens no matter how many sims I send on vacation. They never arrive and the vacation home goes into build mode, and the sims go missing.

If anybody had this happen, and knows how to fix it, please inform me. Thanks. Smiley
4  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Apartment Buildings / The Middle Income Block on: October 07, 2008, 12:28:35 pm
I got fed up with the lag on my machine with large apartment blocks so I built this Mini-Block (as opposed to the six or ten, see links below***). Obviously it runs smoother (especially on my rubbish machine) because there are less apartments on the lot. Four apartments on four levels. A sort of middle income block similar to the posh block. Fairly spacious, one bathroom, main bedroom and an extra room big enough for an office or single bedroom. Usual things on the roof.

I had all expansions installed when I created this, except for Uni. If you don't have all the Expansion Packs installed it will still work but some items may be missing. You won't need any of the SPs.

If you notice anything amiss, post and I'll fix it.

Probably my last apartment block (at least for a while anyway). Got some serious "bidness" to deal with. LOL. Enjoy. Smiley

**Note: the space to the right of the block is big enough (just about) to place a car port. You could do that with the cheats. I didn't add it for my uploaded version in case anybody had problems with it. I dumped a dog statue on the grass instead. Wink **

5  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / A very simple way to correct the beach lot bug in AL on: October 02, 2008, 03:05:28 am
This answers a question I saw on here.

I very much doubt if I'm the first to figure this out. I bet hundreds of sim players more code-savvy than me have sussed this out by now, but here it is anyway in case people were annoyed, like I was, the first time they suffered the dreaded beach lot bug in apartment life - where your apartment on the beach sinks and the sea floods it.

To fix the problem, this is what I did:

Opened Simpe to check out the lot descriptions of the apartment/beach lot into which I just moved a family. There were two copies of the same lot. One I figured was the main one, the base one, if you like. The other one was the parallel universe one into which I just moved my simfamily. Checking the elevation number of that one I could see that  it was different. It's the Z: box in Simpe.  So all I had to do was change it, make it the same as the other lots. The correct elevation is: 315.9375. And on returning to the game the apartment/beach lot was correctly elevated. Seemed simple, or even SIMpe Smiley ... well, until I realised that every time I moved a simfamly into an apartment on the same lot, the same thing happens and you have to correct it for each family.

I hate Simpe though. It's so slooooooooow on my machine that it usually just gives up and crashes. Frustrating.
6  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Apartment Buildings / The Posh Block on: September 25, 2008, 03:13:14 pm
Well, I said I wasn't gonna upload anything else, but I've been messing with my towerblock buildings and decided I may as well share this.

This is a posh, more upmarket, redesigned version of my 6 floor towerblock

(downloadable here:  http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=93408 )

which was a bit small for most sim families. So here's a remedy, 6 floors of larger apartments, 2 bed, 2 bathroom. More expensive though. And the usual things I like to dump on the roof for poor sims to play with.  Smiley

I'm also redoing the 10 floor towerblock (http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=93408), to create extra rooms, and might upload that later at some stage. If I get around to it. Smiley

No CCs, and no problems. If anything turns up, I'll fix it.

****Just a note to point out that I had all the expansion packs installed (except UNI) when I created this. ***
7  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Weird AL bug allowing for two roomates, one pregnant. on: September 21, 2008, 08:04:24 am
Got two roomates and one of them is pregnant  - in the game, I mean Smiley

Check the picture. You can see from that. Not sure how it happened, but I think it happened like this: Got a roommate, then used the Insim to make the roomate pregnant (it didn't appear to have worked). Moved the sim out (didn't kick out roomie, just went to NB screen and moved the sim out and somewhere else). In new apartment, called up the sim that I "artificially insimenated" (hehe) and discovered that there was no option to turn her back into a roomie. So got a new roomate, and then used Insim to add the first one to the household. The first one become a roommate too instead of a regular household member, and pregnancy started to show. Voila! Now there's 2 acting like roomies, doing the chores, paying the rent, not selectable. Smiley

Not promising that if you replicate the above it might happen in your game, but you could try. Don't blame me though it everything blows up.

All of which goes to prove one thing (I think). That eventually with hacks/mods, we should be able to have more than one roomie per household.

8  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / No blue skin for freezing sims on: September 17, 2008, 03:12:05 pm
This mod may already be out there but I'll be stuffed if I can find it. Searched for hours on google and all I'm getting is the no blue skin vampire mod. I'm looking for a mod that stops the sims changing into blue skin when they start freezing. On my crappy machine there is an annoyingly long delay while it freaks out over giving the cold sim a blue tint. Smiley
9  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Apartment Buildings / 6 & 10 Floor Towerblocks (for Apartment Life) on: September 14, 2008, 06:37:48 am
****Corrected a minor detail on the top floor of both blocks. Downloads are Version 2****

For Apartment Life.

Built this block based on a towerblock in the UK. Same dingy narrow hallways,  noisy elevator, and cramped living space, yet strangely appealing for simlife. Just enough room for a couple (and maybe a cat), except the penthouse apartment on the 6th floor which has an extra room.  Enough room (just about) on the roof for sunbathing. Basketball court on the roof. Car wreck in the street. Great views from upper levels. I placed mine on the hill above the lady statue, as you can see from the pics.

Looks like a UK towerblock minus the wee in the lift and the graffiti. Smiley

There are two versions of this block. The 6 floors block and the 10 floors block. The block with 10 floors is difficult to play on the upper levels (above 6) because it jumps around on the scroll (unless there's a cheat I don't know about) ... the 10 floor is still playable if you zoom in on the sim you're using you can get around on the upper floors quite easily. Takes a while for the apartments to fill up with NPC sims, about three hours sim time on my game. They move in from the top down.

No CCs in either block, no known issues (so far). Ten-Floors Block tested by Mr Cooke - that creepy sim with the dodgy goatee. Any problems with it, kill him.

That second to last pic, that's my sim chatting up the neighbour downstairs on her balcony. Smiley

This is my first upload, and probably my last. Enjoy.

Notes:
***If you have any problems getting downloaded apartment lots to show up in your game, do this: Call up the cheat window (CTRL-Shift & C), then type Changelotzoning apartmentbase. And save back to the neighbourhood. You'll see the little spinning apartments icon above the lot you were just on.
***You can rent apartments furnished by using this cheat: Boolprop testingcheatsenabled true. Then hold Shift whilst clicking on the door of the apartment you want to rent, and you'll see the option to rent furnished. Don't forget to disable testingcheats again afterwards with Boolprop testingcheatsenabled false. Or download Carrigon's apartment door mod (although I haven't tried that yet). Not sure of the URL, but a quick google should turn it up.
***I created this with all EPs installed, except UNI.
10  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Few things bugging me about AL on: September 08, 2008, 01:48:05 am
1. You can't seem to change the Roommate's clothes. Or so it appears to me right now anyway, unless someone tells me different.

2. It seems to me at the moment that you can't get your neighbour evicted and have a new one move in.

3. You can't move a new sim you created into an apartment nextdoor to a family you've moved into an apartment on the same lot. Seems one family, one apartment lot, all the rest NPCs.

4. The same NPC sims move into the apartments everytime. Unless my game has gone nuts already after a couple of days of play. LOL.

5. One more thing I just remembered. Still, no bunk beds. Grrrrrrrr.
