Now, I have opeu's and HystericalParoxysm's tutorials about how to make realistic Sim skins for Sims.  I was wondering if there are any other tutorials on how to make realistic Sims skins if you recommend it.  Just let me know, guys.  Smiley

I second this request.  Would be great for sci-fi stories.

I've put her in my sims and will be playing her soon. Not quite sure what aspiration or career (the mind boggles) rolleyes

Excellent likeness! Thank you!

You're welcome.  And thank you for your comments.  You may want to use a writing career for her (since she's suppose to be an author in the films).

I'm assuming the silence is a good thing, since I haven't gotten any feedback on this yet.

Hey guys!  I figured I'd post this Sim I made a while ago.  For some time, this particular Sim was only available on Mod The Sims 2, so I've decided to post some of my "blast fro the past" Sims here. as well.  Enjoy!

Original Text:
Hello again, Simmers and Simmakers, it is me again bringing another Sim for you.

I am going to admit a guilty pleasure here for you guys: The movie “Basic Instinct” happens to be one of my favorites (it’s right underneath Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo”).  And I am really stoked and patiently awaiting for the U.S. release of “Basic Instinct 2”, which is set to be released at the end of this month.  So, I figured, why not go ahead and celebrate, putting together a Sim before a lot of other people get the chance to do so after BI2 gets released?  So, I went ahead and did so.

For those who are unfamiliar with “Basic Instinct”, it follows a story that similar to “Vertigo”: A jaded cop falls for a mysterious blonde.  But the twist about “Basic Instinct” is that it is a murder mystery where the mysterious blonde may have killed someone.  The film itself is rated R for the content of sex, drugs and murder.

Catherine Tramell is the female lead of the story, played by Sharon Stone.  Catherine Tramell is a writer and the girlfriend of a rockstar who was brutally murdered (which is seen at the beginning of the film).  Tramell, as she states in the trailer for “Basic Instinct 2”, writes about “the sexual, the violent… the basic instincts.”  She has written three novels (“The First Time”, “Love Hurts” and “Shooter”) and she has a “risk additction” (as also stated in the trailer for the upcoming sequel).

The dress she wears was my attempt at recreating the one she wears in the infamous “interrogation room” scene from the first film.  It may not been 100%, but it was the closest I could get with using the in-game dresses available.  Hope you enjoy having Catherine in your Sims neighborhood.  Just remember to keep her away from ice picks, amongst other things…

NOTE: Recently updated, readjusting the face and nose a bit.  Thanks to all who gave their feedback.  Cheesy

I have to admit, Gododog, though its been a while since I last looked at this Sim, I'm still amazed with how well the likeness is.  Good thing you don't take requests (if you did, you probably would be swamped by people looking for excellent quality of Sims, to which I would be a part of).  I hope you continue to do excellent Sims.  Cheesy
23  Simmers' Paradise / Lots & Neighborhoods / The Orpheum Theatre, Vancouver, Canada on: December 25, 2008, 04:10:30 am
Looking to see if anyone can make the Orpheum Theatre that's in Vancouver, Canada or knows where I may be able to download it.  I need the Theatre to be a Residental lot, since I plan on featuring it and I need only the Sims I plan on using in the lot (without neighborhood Sims involved).

25  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / An Idea for a Custom Content Contest. on: December 15, 2008, 03:47:07 am
As I have done before with my ideas for the "Sim Custom Skin Advisor" and the "Gun Pose Hack/Object", I have another idea for something Sim related.  Now, I'm not trying to say we should, but this is only an idea and just thought about getting it out of my head.

As a part of my DVD Collection, I have a movie called "Somewhere in Time".  Currently, I'm reading the novel of the same name that the film was based on (Note: The original novel was titled "Bid Time Return") by Richard Matheson (known for many classic shorts such as "Duel", "Steel", "Terror at 10,000 Feet" and "Little Girl Lost", as well as classic novels such as "I Am Legend").  The premise of both the novel and the film is that a writer name Richard Collier falls in love with an American actress name Elise McKenna.  The drawback of this romance is this: Elise McKenna is dead, and Richard fell in love with her after finding her portrait in a "Hall of History" in a hotel he is staying in.  Becoming obsessed with her, he discovers a way that he can be with her: through the use of self-hypnosis, he is able to travel back in time to be able to meet and fall in love with her.  I know, it sounds cheesy, but it's a good movie and, so far from reading, and excellent book.

Anyways, I got to thinking about this, and I had thought about posting it as a "Somewhere in Time" competition, challenging custom content creators to make items and Sims of the characters from both the book and the film.  But there is a twist, which I will reveal in a moment.  I decided not to go with that kind of theme, and decided to make it something more open.

In the book, the entire story takes place at the Hotel del Coronado in San Deigo, California and in two seperate periods of time (1896 and 1975), in the movie its set at the Grand Hotel, also in two periods (1912 and 1979).  The reason why the Hotel del Coronado wasn't used in the film was because the director and production designer found it impossible to film there due to all the modern changes made to the hotel.  So, this got me thinking and here is what I am suggestion:

"Then and Now - A Classic/Modern Sim Content Contest"
Premise (and here's the twist): Make two different items (outfits, objects or lots) that reflect two seperate periods of time, but hold a similar, yet different design, almost as if one was like something out of the "good old days" and the other looking like an updated version of it.
For example:
Let's say you make a lot of a building, and you went with an 1930s Art-Deco design, filled it with objects of the 1930s.  For your modern lot, it should hold the same design as much as possible but updated (like how some buildings of the past retain their original appearance, but much of the inside or a little bit of the outside is changed) and filled with objects from now (or another period of time of your choosing, as long as its after the previous timeframe design, at least a 15 year difference.

Of course, you can use real world examples, but nothing that's really obvious that everyone knows that's its a reworking (i.e. the 1965 and the 2005 Ford Mustang).

Anyways, just an idea.  Don't know if anyone would go for it.  But if anyone ever wants to use it, by all means, don't be afraid to use it.  If it's already been done, than I apologize for bothing you and this would serve as a reminder to use the search option again.  Thank you for your time.   cool

28  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Need help with finding a possible conflicting file in my downloads, causing problems. on: September 19, 2008, 02:54:35 am
Okay, here's the whole situation.  I recently am having problems with my Sims 2 game.  There's two major ones that I can tell: 1.  In one of my neighborhoods, I have a Servo by itself (a custom content install, in case your wondering) that isn't responding to any of my mouse click actions (when I click "Dig for Treasure", it doesn't act, it just stands there.  When I have my custom content disabled and try it, the Servo works).  2. In another one of my neighborhoods, my human Sims' animation is freaking out.  If I tell a Sim to walk from one spot to another, it walks past the spot I tell it to stop at and then when they go to stop, it jumps back to where I had told the Sim to stop and the animation jerks in the progress.

What I know: It's obviously one of the many custom content files I downloaded, but I cannot figure out which one.  Before this, I had to disable a couple of hacks using Delphy's Download Organizer, which fixed a problem where my Sims' control bar wasn't showing up (and the game wasn't responding to key commands) and the Servo in the different neighborhood wasn't showing up the way it was suppose to (after using Delphy's program, the Sim showed up the way it was suppose to, looking like a Cylon Centurion from "Battlestar Galactica").  So, whatever is causing the Servo in one neighborhood to not respond to mouse click commands and is causing the animation jerking must be one of the files underneath my downloads.  And Delphy's Download Organizer and the Sims 2 Content Manager (and even tried Paladin's Hack Confliction Detector, which didn't pull up any results).

So, has there anyone else that has had this problem?  And if so, how did you fix it?  And is there any other way for me to get this fixed without of having to delete all of my downloads and uninstall&reinstall my game and EPs?  And are there any other programs that might help shed light as to which file is causing these problems for the game?
29  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Vivienne Lambert from the Richard Hoyt novel, "Vivienne" on: August 26, 2008, 12:03:08 am
Thanks for moving the thread, caffeinated.joy.  I wasn't sure if the Sim applied to this section because it's based off a novel character, and it being my interpretation of her (whereas other characters have been based on actual pictures of characters).  And thank you very much for your kind words.
