1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Changelotzoning Trouble on: October 31, 2008, 11:45:39 pm
I'm trying to convert a community lot into a residential, so I use the cheat, save, and go to the neighborhood. It lets me move a family into the lot, but when I go in to play them, I only have buy and build available and the phone and trash can are still there. What am I doing wrong?

Firestorm
Prologue

For decades, the consolidation of political, military, and economic power in international organizations like the European Union, the Greater Asian Federation, and the South American Alliance has led to the concentration of power over billions in the hands of a few.

Nations that go it alone, by choice or necessity, find themselves increasingly threatened. In 2019, the United States and Canada formed a defensive pact as tensions and border disputes between the U.S. and the South American Alliance grew. Australia finds itself harassed by government-sanctioned pirates, sailing with the endorsement of the GAF.

Of all the nations and organizations, it is Europe that has grown the strongest. After the Russo-European War of 2026, much of Russia has been partitioned between the European Union and the GAF, leaving the once-great threat in shambles.

But all is not well in Europe. Reforms in the European Union's governance, led by the charismatic firebrand Lizaveta Stafford of the United Kingdom, have resulted in a virtual dictatorship. The bloodless coup vested control in the new office of the European Chancellor, to which Stafford was elected by the European Commission in 2028. Since then, the office has grown more powerful as Stafford uses any means necessary to solidify control.

A devastating terror attack on Brussels meant to break Stafford's grip on the Union resulted in a crackdown of proportions not seen since the Second World War. The presence of a mysterious genetic marker in some of the blood samples left by the terrorists leads to a series of bills stripping the rights of those afflicted by the same.

Those with the MYNDRM marker have been registered at birth since 2029. In some provinces of the European Union, local and provincial governments have enforced terrible restrictions against the so-called Myndrmen. Men, women and children who carry the marker show no outward signs, no behavioral or physical manifestations. It is not contagious.

Even so, the Chancellor, Commission, and Council continue to support or turn a blind eye to local measures of oppression, and soon Myndrmen become a scapegoat for many of the economic and social woes plaguing Europe.

But not all are willing to sit back and accept the descent of Europe to dictatorship and fascism. In the Eastern Province (which includes what was once Poland, Kaliningrad, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia), a young politician rises to the rank of Deputy Province Minister. Commanding the loyalty of the masses and the respect of the Provincial Army, D. P. M. Aleksy Markowitz has been watching with growing unease.

Once again Europe is a powder keg, but this time a silent one. The only question is whether the keg is sparked...

...and whether Europe can stand yet another bloody conflict.

I found out yesterday you can pick up items left as gifts outside your door. Use the hand tool in your inventory menu (from live mode) and you should be able to pick up flowers, etc.
4  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Have you built an apartment? on: August 29, 2008, 11:13:39 pm
Have you built an apartment with AL?

I've built a few...but then I had to reformat my computer (literally two hours after installing AL Sad). I'm working on one right now, as well. I'll post pictures when it's done Smiley
5  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Updated for Apartment Life? on: August 29, 2008, 05:42:17 pm
Do you know of any hacks that are certified and announced by the creator to work fully with Apartment Life?

If you still have the hacks and they work with your game, don't post that here. The policy on using non-updated hacks is well known. But if you know of hacks that have been updated please share!

Apartments: Cool as a concept, but Maxis-made apartments are kind of lame.

New Hairs: Fugly!

New Clothes: Fuglier!

Witchcraft: To be determined; I haven't had a chance to play a witch yet.

Belladonna Cove: Kind of an interesting neighborhood, with a city environment on one side and a suburban-esque area to the side. Fun, there's not a really dynamic story going on there.

New styles: Some of the furniture is nice, some is superlame. Particularly disappointing was the secret door, which (as a storyteller) I find to be not secret at all.

All in all, I'm glad I got it and I can't wait to build my own apartment building.

What did you all think?
7  Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / Sim Can't Make New Group Meals on: August 20, 2008, 08:57:32 pm
My sim, who I just created and whose house I just built, can't make group meals beyond lunch meat sandwiches, gelatin, and chef's salad. Her cooking skill is maxed out, her fridge is base game, she has plenty of food. I can't understand what's wrong. The options are just missing.
8  Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / Fulfilling Wants (using cheat) on: August 20, 2008, 06:45:14 pm
I used a technique to edit the config file with Free Time and everything works perfectly, except I can't fulfill get-a-pet wants (Obtain a Kitten, Obtain a Puppy, etc.). Regular pet wants (buy a birdcage, buy a food bowl) are just fine. Does anyone else have this problem with Free Time and is there a way to fix it?
9  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Videos / The Inheritance - Chapter Two on: July 29, 2008, 11:06:51 pm
Just a little preview video I made while experimenting with WMM. It's a teaser for the upcoming second chapter of my story here at InSim, 'The Inheritance'. The youtube link is because it was requested, but I find that the photobucket one to be of higher quality.

I'm continuing 'The Inheritance' with a second chapter or 'season'. Is this something I ought to do in a new thread, or continue in a new thread?

Murder at Stafford Hall[/SIZE]

Introduction
You've reached the home of Jack Morgan. I'm not in right now, but if you leave a message at the tone I'll get back to you when I return.

Detective Morgan, this is Captain Jeffords. There's been a murder at old Stafford Hall and our constables don't know what to make of it. I realize you're freshly made detective, but I need you to take this as your first assignment as a favor to me. Here's the address...

Intrigue...
All these people, cooped up in an English manor on a holiday weekend? You've just been asking for a murder, haven't you?

One victim: Lord David Stafford. Seven guests, each with a compelling motive to uncover. Seven suspects.

Was it Lord Stafford's business partner...

...with the missing vase from the china cabinet in the den?

Or was it the local politician...

...with a missing artifact in the gallery?

Or perhaps the widow...

...with one of the ancient swords hanging in the hall.

With help from the InSIM community, Detective Jack Morgan will solve the...

13  Simmers' Paradise / Anecdote Assistance / Who's up for an audience-driven murder mystery?! on: July 18, 2008, 12:56:51 am
I'm dreaming of a classic, audience-driven murder mystery (think 'Clue') with the audience (aka the readers) controlling (via a poll function of some sort) the detective. I'll have mapped the story out in full when the game starts, and the detective will investigate the manor, interview the suspects, etc. in order to discover the full extent of the crime, its motives, and its execution.

This is a little complicated and it will require considerable audience dedication and participation. It will be no easy undertaking, but I think it could be quite fun and I'd like to give it a shot if anyone is interested in playing along. So, comments, concerns, questions, painful revelations, shocking declarations, marriage proposals or duel challenges?
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Question on Aspiration and LTWs on: July 10, 2008, 04:24:29 pm
I have a sim who wants to marry of 6 children as her LTW. Does that have to happen on the lot where she lives, or will her children getting married off her lot (in their own homes) fulfill that request?

And generally speaking, do things involving other Sims as LTWs and aspiration (children, grandchildren marrying, etc., etc.) and fears (relatives dying) have to take place on the lot in order to "count"?
15  Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / Old Gypsy Lady Malfunctioning on: July 08, 2008, 08:51:58 am
The matchmaker Gypsy woman is malfunctioning in my game. My sim has a 50 dream dates LTW, so I thought I'd better get started on that, so I called her. She sneaked onto the lot and left a genie lamp every time I called her, and I couldn't click her.

I have all the latest (FT, K&B, IKEA stuff) plus InSim and some items from the Sims Store. How do I fix it?
