1  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / I'm back on: September 09, 2008, 01:28:52 am
Randomly(today) I was bored and happened to look at your profile, found out your last post was today and you're back!

Anyway, I'm back too(just for today, maybe later). I missed this site and this forum, so I decided to randomly check this site again. I don't really play the sims anymore but it's still fun to check out the forums once in a while.
2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / SecuROM is REALLY busting my chops. on: September 09, 2008, 01:17:36 am
EA games should do what Valve and Steam does(and Blizzard is also going to set up a service similar to Steam).

Steam offers a lot of protection against pirates due to the fact that you buy games directly from Steam(online store/account), and the games are tied directly to your account.

Good thing about Steam is that it doesn't install anything else, no CD protection, no securom, no hidden programs that track what you're doing, etc.

Of course, the main(maybe only) con about steam is that you require internet connection for Steam but you only need internet connection when you download and install stuff for Steam.

You can play offline afterwards once you've downloaded and installed the game from Steam.

Blizzard is also going to this route(though it's not the "exact" same as Valve and Steam), allowing people to download/buy games directly from the Blizzard online store, NO SECUROM INCLUDED!!!!(Or at least, I don't think so).

So EA games should get heads up and copy Valve's method with Steam, which offers a "Securom-free solution against pirates".

Other companies have followed other solutions, and they don't seem to have caused nearly as much as an uproar. The problem is fixable. It's a good question whether EA Games will fix it or ignore it.

There is definitively is other ways for them to deal with pirates/warez. Again, EA games should do what Valve and Steam does(and Blizzard is also going to set up a service similar to Steam).

Steam offers a lot of protection against pirates due to the fact that you buy games directly from Steam(online store/account), and the games are tied directly to your account.

Wow, kind of silly way they're enforcing anti-piracy. I mean, it'll drive away more customers(which means money) than save.

Ehh, they should just copy what Valve is doing with Steam. With Steam, Valve doesn't have to worry as much about pirates and Steam is really convenient for the user.

Also I do agree, it seems that since SecuROM has been activated, sales have declined but that may be because expansion pack's quality are declining also(I mean, look at how many glitches/bugs/etc each new expansion pack offers).
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Any way to build/buy "Residential lot" stuff on Community lots and vice versa? on: December 09, 2007, 12:56:22 pm
Is there any way to build "Residential lot" stuff on Community lots and vice versa?

For example, how can I build Beds or a TV in a community lot?

How would I build community lot exclusive items in a residential lot?

Is the fix also with "Seasons?", incase you don't have Pets?
7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Buying clothes on: March 22, 2007, 10:38:51 am
Click "Plan outfit" then click on what category you want to change the clothes for, then select the clothes you want your sim to wear each time they dress for that.

Also are you asking if you're able to change the "bottoms" of the nightwear with the underwear you bought? (I am not sure) you can't combine any "bottoms" or "tops" with any "whole piece clothes". For example, swim wear are just "whole piece" so you can't combine any "bottoms" or "tops" with the swim wear because the swim wear itself is the whole thing.

So if you're asking why you're not able to switch the "bottom" part of a nightwear or something, it may be because that nightwear is a whole piece and not seperate into two parts(tops and bottoms).

Off topic:

Speaking of outfit categories, is there any way to "expand" the categories? Like, if I wanted to add more categories to the dressing so I don't always have to click "plan outfit" to change into that specific outfit, is it possible?

Also, another question - For the "plan outfit" thing, it allows you to change clothes for any that you "obtained" right? And obtaining clothes can be done by either: 1. Buying the clothes, 2. Having a job that had those clothes, and 3. Downloading the clothes?
8  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / Fight Anyone Anytime New Version Available(9/27/06) on: March 22, 2007, 08:46:44 am
A little off topic, but is there some way my sims can "not be scared" by the burglar?

The fight option appears for the burglar, but unfortunately my sims are too scared to fight him(The "Burglar!" action overwrites everything). So is there anyway to make the "Burglar!" action not overwrite anything or even appear so I can beat up the burglar?

One of my sims is a swat leader, and it's silly that my swat leader sim is afraid of the burglar.
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How do you extract musics/sound/etc from the sims 2? on: February 17, 2007, 02:11:35 am
How do you extract musics/sound/etc from the sims 2? Like how can I extract house mix music or other music into files like .mp3 files, etc?
10  Resident Creators / EP2 Mods / EP2 Grand Vampire Appears More Often on: November 26, 2006, 12:31:07 am
Thanks for the mod. On another note, is there a mod that prevents NPC sims from getting biten by your playable sims automatically? I just don't want all the NPC sims turning into vampires, actually I just want one sim to be a vampire but she's in love with quite a few sims, including my other playable sim, and I don't want everyone to be vampires.

Squinge, was this something hidden in the game? And what exactly happens, anyways? Could you post some screenshots, please?

Any sim with 1 point in neatness (meaning they're messy) will automatically pee in the shower.

Also, nice work, multitasking ftw.
