1  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: June 02, 2009, 02:53:29 pm
Well so far.....I think this should have come out between Sims and Sims2, I call it sims1.5

The graphics are still much better than they were in Sims1 but do have that feel.

You can move in your own families.  Once you are in your playable families house, choose edit town, then move your new sims into a home.  I suggest you do this very early before other families fill in the affordable houses.

I haven't had any problems moving about,  the camera controls can be a bit wonky at times tho.  I like being able to pull up the town map and tell my sim to visit.  I can then go back to the house and continue playing with the rest of the family while the other sims is out meeting people & doing something else.  He/she will come home eventually all by themself or I can just click on the arrows on its icon.  Or just click the ground and tell them "go here"

There are undies in the sleepwear area.  Some of them are actually kinda cute-surprised me

I know kaching still works, haven't tried motherlode yet as I don't mind helping them out but I don't want things to be to easy for them.

I like the jobs, many of the same jobs we are familiar with,  some of them actually branch off into 2 different areas at a certain level.  I like there is more than skilling & making friends to most jobs.  Some of my sims have had to read a book or give a speech as part of the job.  The political guy has to have fund raising parties.  My sims have been able to level up without having all the skills just by hard work.  I get to pick if they want to work normal, hard, slack off.  Some of the jobs have other options as well.

I like the gardening and collecting which surprised me as I really never got into it in previous versions.  Raising those plants from bad or normal to perfect, trying to collect them all etc.

I love love love that I can drag the smelly plates and old newspapers to the trash without having to leave live mode or direct my sim to do it.  Did I mention I LOVE IT?

I like my new moms being able to go have the baby at the hospital.......home births are annoying.  It seems to last FOREVER!

I hate the absent minded trait,  the dumb face and the "Homerlike" duh duh duh is annoying.

I hate the playdough like look of the sims

I hate the babies.....

I hate going back to the basegame again.  It has been a very long time but I have a foggy memory of Sims2 basegame and missing all the things from Sims1 that were later added in the EPs.

Wikipedia for Satanism.

No allusions to witchcraft exist within the article, which is my main argument with the premise that GAMBLER and the rest put forth - it's immediately logically false and intellectually dishonest to associate witchcraft with Satanism.

Thanks for the wiki (I think).  I still don't know much more than I did before but I have a starting place to learn more about it.  The different beliefs have always fascinated me and have ask questions of many people practicing those beliefs to mixed reactions.  Some seem offended - to the other extreme, some want to "convert" me.

How to explain to a non-simmer it is just the knowledge sim in me wanting to know about everything?  Oh well, such is life.

I agree tho, it is a game.  If someone doesn't like certain aspects of it, don't play it.  I am not into green aliens "trying to blend in" to a humanoid neighborhood.  It just doesn't compute in my brain.  No one would notice a "green person with bug eyes and a tiny little nose" trying to pass itself off as human.

My friend has whole neighborhoods that are complete aliens from various planets.

Neither of us are right or wrong, we don't try to convert each other, we just ask about how each others hood is coming along and accept that it makes the other happy.
6  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Apartment Life = Satantist? on: September 01, 2008, 11:18:36 pm
I don't think the witches are Satanic, I am not even sure what Satanism involves.

I think the whole problem is the way the email was worded.  If the email had been something like:

This is a Christian based site.  Some people may be offended by symbols used by the witches in the new EP.  While everyone is entitled to his/her beliefs,  postings witches and practices involved will not be allowed on this site.

Thanks for your understanding.

Then people would not be insulted being called Satan worshipers, which I think is the REAL problem here.

We are all entitled to our beliefs.  The base of most organized religious is love, acceptance and showing by example what faith in said religion can make in life and afterlife (where applicable).

11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Mementos-- Pls tell me if you can help me fix this problem! on: September 15, 2007, 06:17:29 pm
has anyone tried having him get his own place, then moving him in with another family to see if that will fulfill the memento?

Or just making friends with the 1 already moved into the n'hood, then propose move in?

I don't care much for the bigfoot living with my family either.
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Why do the townies in the "Far East" NOT look Asian? on: September 11, 2007, 04:51:33 pm
I thought those people were fellow tourists, which would explain why they don't look like they belong there.
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Bon Voyage WILL NOT INSTALL on: September 10, 2007, 02:37:53 pm
I had a similar problem when I loaded Seasons. I ran my cd cleaner thru it and it worked fine afterwards.

It was weird, it would still play my previous game, but not the new one.
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / anyone else NOT having problems? on: September 09, 2007, 07:52:09 am
no issues for me other than the occassional lag. Seems like the more I play it the less the lag.

I also moved all CC out, played the game vanilla in an test hood, checked out all the new vacation spots.

Move all CC back in (excluding mods) played more-still in test hood.

I am slowly adding the mods back in as they are updated or cleared that no update is needed.

I am just about confident enough in now to move to my regular hood without fear that it will blow up. (but I still have my backup if it does)
15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sim's arm won't move on: August 03, 2007, 11:10:51 am
He has been playing chess, they get stuck like that alot.

Nothing to worry about, just let him go about his normal life, it will start working again and won't keep him from doing anything.
