Once again, please instruct the OP where the file is and how to get rid of it. Plus give the OP the exact name of the file created by Bodyshop. Not everyone know where to find these things to get rid of to help resolve their problems.

Tell the OP exactly what the file is called and where it is located. Some people may not know where to look for this file or how to get rid of it.
35  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Will my computer be able to handle more than one EP? on: April 13, 2011, 02:26:01 pm
Like I stated, XP can only use 2 GB of RAM no matter how much total RAM you have installed in the computer. You need to modify the operating system's registry. There are numerous forums with instructions to do this but they are quite advanced if you are not computer savvy. Or you can download 4GB Patch from NTCore to modify the games and/or programs to use more than 2 GB of RAM if your machine has more than 2 GB total RAM installed.

I downloaded 4GB patch (small program) and modified Sims 3, Medieval Sims and World of Warcraft to modify them to use more than 2 GB of total RAM on my machine.

But I will agree to an extent that if you want special effects from Apartment Life and Seasons, you will need a better video card with more than 512 MB of video RAM. You should try to get a video card with at least 1 GB of video RAM. 1 GB is the minimum these days to handle special effects in most games. There's some cheap video cards out that you can look at for at least $50 USD or higher.

It does suck to have to deal with these installation issues. Hope Ea follows through with their promise to refund you for the game you can't play.

Both links to the original mod and to CPackEditor are working. The CPackEditor program is found under the Download tab.
38  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Error 12 Issues (Gave Save Issues) on: April 09, 2011, 09:24:03 pm
Error 12 is related to memory in the PC. I was always getting Error 12 on my new machine because:

1. My machine has 4 GB of RAM.
2. XP Pro is 32-bit on my machine and doesn't allow many programs to take advantage of all of the 4 GB of RAM installed in my machine.
3. Certain programs were not written to take advantage of all of the memory I got in my computer.

Then I searched online and found a solution to the problem. BUT I will warn you it is a complicated procedure to address the Error 12 issues.

I downloaded a program from NTCore called '4 GB Patch', installed the program and then used the program to patch Sims 3 to allow the game to use more than 2 GB of RAM. I fired up Sims 3 and played for hours after I did this, and I did not get an Error 12. I played multiple times and did not get Error 12 again.

So, it is up to you to decide if you want to give this a try, BUT use it at your own risk.

The following steps are listed below:

1. Download 4 GB Patch from NTCore.
2. Unzip the program to the desktop and then install the program.
3. Open 4 GB Patch. The program will then open to a directory.

In this case, you want to navigate to:

XP:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff\Game\Bin (IF you have Outdoor Living Stuff as your latest SP)

You should be looking for TS3SP03.exe in that folder.

This is what it should look like after you find the game in the game directory.

4. Click Open to allow the program to patch Sims 3.
5. Then the program will let you know it's done.
6. Play Sims 3!

** WARNING **

Do it at your own risk. The above are the basic steps to patch Sims 3 to use more than 2 GB of RAM in your machine IF you have more than 2 GB installed. If your machine has .. let's say 8 GB of RAM, then you have 8 GB to play with. If your machine only has 2 GB, then don't download and use the program.

This is the last resort on my part to get around the Error 12s I was getting constantly. I can't guarantee that this method will work for everybody, but people have said that using this program helped them with the Error 12s in Sims 3. I also used the program to patch Sims Medieval and World of Warcraft.

I hope you will find a way to get around these Error 12 issues and report back if you do find an alternative method!

Something new to learn everyday about Sims 2. Very interesting information about running a restaurant on a home lot.
41  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Will my computer be able to handle more than one EP? on: April 08, 2011, 10:18:01 am
Sims 2 itself can be handled with just 512 MB of RAM, but if you wanted to load all of the EPs and SPs with Sims 2, at least 1 GB is needed. But that's not including any custom content. With custom content, you could very well hit 2 GB of RAM if you have that much custom content.

XP can only have up to 2 GB. (32-bit)

Vista, I think, handle up to 3 GB or more. I never used Vista.

Windows 7 can handle more than 4 GB. (64-bit)

But like Joy asked. What are your computer specs and operating system (is it XP, Vista or 7)?

First of all, read any documentation that came with the file you downloaded. Most mods usually give directions on how and where to install the mods.

Second of all, assume that the mod uses all of the expansion packs that came out for the game. From the pictures in the OP, I see at least Uni and Seasons. If you have Apartment Life, then this should work.

Admittedly, the author did not list the EPs for these mods to work with. And yes, it's more than 2 years since the author last posted his mods here. Necromancy isn't bad, but if you can't get something to work for your game, you should try to get help in the general help section for help. People tend to respond there than here.
