61  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / ATTENTION - Mansion & Garden Stuff Pack - ATTENTION on: November 26, 2008, 02:18:35 pm
If you bought Mansion & Garden Stuff Pack recently and discovered that some mods aren't working correctly with this new stuff pack, you will want to read to find out what to expect and what to do.

The information is from a post Twojeff wrote at his site:

Generally install the version of a mod compatible with the highest Expansion Pack you have installed. The Stuff Packs throw a slight monkey wrench in the works though. If you have a Stuff Pack installed that was released after your highest Expansion Pack you might need a different mod version...

Here's a list of the order the Expansions came out and then the SPs and which EP they are based on. For the Stuff Packs, you need to use mods for the EP in parenthesis unless you have a higher EP than that installed.

Expansions
University
Nightlife
Open for Business
Pets
Seasons
Bon Voyage
Free Time
Apartment Life

Stuff-It Packs
Family Fun Stuff (OFB)
Glamour Life Stuff (OFB)
Celebration Stuff (OFB)
H&M (OFB)
Teen Style Stuff (Pets)
Kitchen & Bath Stuff (Pets)
Ikea Home Stuff (Pets)
Mansion & Garden Stuff (Apt Life)

So...if you have the Pets or any higher EPs, no SPs except M&G Stuff will affect your mods since they are all based on OFB or Pets. If you only have Nightlife (or Deluxe or whatever) and you add Ikea, you'd then need to use Pets versions of mods instead of Nightlife versions. Get it? Good.

In other words, if you have FreeTime installed (and no Apartment Life) and then buy Mansion & Garden Stuff Pack to install, you will end up having to download the EP8/AL mods and give up EP7/FT mods in order to have what you want with your game.

If you think there is an issue with a mod not working properly with Mansion & Garden Stuff Pack, please open an issue thread in the Mod Help section so we could verify and address the issue.
62  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / No Autonomous Follow Parent on: November 18, 2008, 04:25:39 am
This mod curbs the autonomous behavior of toddlers following their parents around whether their motives are low or not.

This mod is EP-friendly, meaning no EP is required.

If you have TJ's No Baby Swarming mod, please rename the mod to zNoAutonomousFollowParent and place it in a subfolder labeled zChaavik in order for this mod to load last after TJ's.
63  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / Attention - Must Read About Inteen: 11-14-08 on: November 15, 2008, 04:32:27 am
Hello,

We want to make a statement about the recent news from Jase about Inteen for Apartment Life and our stance on this particular package of mods that made a big impact on the Sims 2 community for years.

As of yesterday, Inteen will not be updated for Apartment Life due to special circumstances outlined by Jase in his post over at Simbology. He basically stated that he lost a lot of work on Inteen and some other important things when his computer crashed over the weekend, and that the effort to recover the work failed. So, he stated officially that he's done with Inteen. He will not redo everything again at this point.

Bottom line - There will not be a future version of Inteen for Apartment Life.

Here are the rules:

1. Do NOT ask us to update or create mod(s) similar to Inteen or Teen Woohoo (also by Jase).

2. Do NOT ask us for technical help with issues using, downloading or locating Inteen and/or similar mods.

**All issues with previous versions of Inteen, Teen Woohoo and compatible mods should be addressed in the special support forum for Inteen at Simbology. The folks there are very helpful with many things regarding Sims 2. Ask politely, and they will help you.

3. Do NOT beg, PM or badger us to update or replace Inteen.

4. Our decisions are final in all things that matter on Inteen and similar mods.

IF we find a request for a new mod or for help with Inteen and similar mods, we will close the threads without saying a word if we choose not to explain the reasons. All reasons are stated here.

Please take the time to consider the new policy and seek help over at Simbology.

Thanks,

Mr. Squinge and his minions
64  Resident Creators / EP7 Mods / Teen & Gender Preference Adoption Hack on: November 04, 2008, 01:12:29 pm
This mod adds two options to adopt teens from the adoption pool that already exists. It also allows you to customize your own new child by choosing the gender, skintone and age of your new child. The following ages are toddlers, children or teens. You can also create babies, but you won't get the options to choose the gender and skintone for these little babies.

To see screenshots of the previous version, click here.

I added a new option to this mod adopt townie sims labeled Townie and a new option called Other to create your own children to adopt without using the existing adoption pool.

Compatible with Seasons, BV, FT & AL.

Note About the Tricou Teens:

The name is aptly given to these six teens as the "Tricou Teens" because of their connection to the dead family called Tricou.

There are six teens who frequent community lots in Downtown and are special because they're connected to the long-dead Tricou family. Two Sims from the dead family are buried on the House of Fallen Leaves lot, and the rest were buried on the Gothier Green Lawn next door to the House of Fallen Leaves lot.

These six teens are all related as siblings, and they all had the same father, Jon Smith Tricou. The purpose of these six teens was to play a story about resurrecting the Tricou family using one or more of these six teens. They all have the same Pleasure aspiration, and they also all have the same LTW to become Criminal Masterminds.

All of these kids have the same clothes and faces no matter how often you install a new neighborhood or attach a new Downtown. Their names will change, but they all will look the same regardless.

If you're bent on resurrecting the Tricou family without using any cheats, you will want to look closely at their faces and appearances when you plan to adopt a Townie and avoid these six teens. If you don't care about these six teens or the Tricou plot to resurrect them, you can adopt them, but they will have their familial ties severed.

The screenshots of the six Tricou Teens are provided for your convenience.

If you don't have Nightlife installed, you won't have to worry about messing up by adopting one of the six teens. They will not show up in the adoption pool.

Uploaded for Mr. Squinge at his request with tidbits of info about the six teens. Credit goes to him. Offer him chicken grease, chicken and beer as thanks.
65  Resident Creators / EP7 Mods / Darts Motive Stop - FT/AL on: November 02, 2008, 01:39:01 pm
This mod prevents sims from playing darts/makes them stop playing darts if their fun is too high or their energy, hunger, bladder or body temp motives get too low.

Compatible with FT & AL.

Not compatible with my no autonomous darts mod.

Uploaded at Mr. Squinge's request.

66  Resident Creators / EP5 Mods / More or Less Juice Ingredients - 3 Flavors on: November 01, 2008, 12:12:45 am
Did you want to make or serve juice with fewer vegetables and/or fruits? Or did you want a real challenge making or serving juice with more vegetables and/or fruits? Or are you looking for a much harder challenge  making or serving juice with even more ingredients?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you will want to use one of these mod flavors to play Sims 2 however you want, the easy way or the hard way. Or even the harder way.

ReducedJuiceIngredients cut the number of vegetables and fruits in half or close to half to make or serve juice of your choice.

MoreJuiceIngredientsx2 increases the number of vegetables and fruits by 2x to make or serve juices of your choice.

MoreJuiceIngredientsx3 increases the number of vegetables and fruits by 3x to make or serve your favorite juices.

I used jfade's Juicer Tweaks mod to show you a sample of how many vegetables and/or fruits are needed to make each juice four different ways: Maxis, Reduced, x2 and x3. Each screenshot shows you exactly what and how many you need to make your favorite juices.

To serve juices, you need to multiply the number of vegetables and/or fruits by 6 for a particular juice you want to serve. The numbers needed for each juice to be served are not shown in any of the juice reports.

For your convenience, the chart shows you how many you need to make or serve juices without having to figure out how many and what you need to make or serve your favorite juices.

Choose only one of the three mod flavors and install in the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\**User Name**\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\zChaavik

You need to create a subfolder in your Downloads folder and name it zChaavik in order to load the mod last. The filename should not be changed and need to be loaded last to work properly with jfade's mod if you use that mod also.

I strongly recommend you get jfade's Juicer Tweaks to be able to see the juice reports when you need to know how many and what you need to make your favorite juice. Without jfade's mod, you won't be able to see the juice reports and will make or serve juices the Maxis way with just reduced or increased number of ingredients from one of these mod flavors.

NOTE:

The maximum capacity of the juicer is 50 (Maxis). Jfade's Juicer Tweaks adjusted the juicer's maximum capacity to 300. Nothing has been done to increase the maximum capacity in jfade's mod. All of my mod flavors rely on jfade's mod to increase the maximum capacity of the juicer to store the vegetables and fruits.

The only things I've done was to modify a text list and add a BHAV from jfade's djsjuicertweaks mod by correcting the numbers and the spelling of the vegetables and fruits as well as a couple minor grammar fixes in the text list. The new text list will override the original text list in jfade's mod. The BHAV will enable the Sim to serve juice along with jfade's Juicer Tweaks mod. Without the BHAV, the Sim will not be able to serve juice if you also use his mod. I edited a BCON to either reduce or increase the number of ingredients needed to make the juices.

Seasons is required.

Do not upload anywhere. This mod is for your personal use.

No Memory Uneducated
No Want Satisfy Uneducated
College Interactions On Any Lot
Teen To Young Adult No College EP8
YA Birthday Cake

In Game Mods:

Semester Tester - Shift+Click your Sim, click on Spawn… and then choose Semester Tester

**In order for the above to work, you need to use Shift+Ctrl+C to open the cheat window and then type 'boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true' without the quotes. Then press Enter. When you're done spawning the Semester Tester, you can open the cheat window again and type 'boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false' to turn the testing cheat off.**

Insimenator 2.9x - Go into Buy Mode, select Electronics/Misc and buy the adjuster looking like a stack of schoolbooks

12-20-08:

**UNSUPPORTED - Insimenator 2.x is now unsupported. Use at your own risk. **

If you don’t have Insimenator 2.9x, visit and download from here. Read the documentation and follow the instructions to install Insimenator 2.9x.

Optional:

Twojeff’s College Adjuster - available at Simbology

Ancient Highway's College Mods - College Isn't Free series are not compatible with the FreeTime version of Mega College Pack

**Do not use AH's college mods with the College Mega Pack - FreeTime until he confirms they work correctly with FreeTime because there is no option for Young Adults to walk to work or access cars to go to work. Until AH has the time to work on the issues/bugs with his college mods for both Apartment Life and FreeTime, do not use them until he informs me and Squinge that they work properly with both FreeTime and Apartment Life.**

What’s New
:

Teen To Young Adult No College EP7 was a new replacement mod for the older mod, Teen To Young Adult No College EP5 (Seasons), with residential lots in mind to enable teens to grow up into Young Adults and remain at home with their families and go to college at the same time.

YA Birthday Cake has a new option to enable teens to Age to Young Adult on top of two existing options: Age to Adult and Take Finals Now. The mod also gives a “Went to College” memory to teens growing up into Young Adults as well as a “Grew Up Well” memory.

What’s Old:

No Memory Uneducated is a mod to prevent Sims from getting the negative “Never Went To College” memories when they age to adults without going to college as well as the uneducated memories. Not sure what the wording is for that memory. But nevertheless, Sims won’t get negative memories from not going to college.

No Want Satisfy Uneducated is a mod to prevent Sims from fulfilling their “Be Uneducated” fears of not going to college and grow up into adults. This also keeps Sims from going into crying and depression fits.

College Interactions On Any Lot is an existing mod to enable Young Adults to perform their college tasks: write term papers on their computers, write their class assignments and do college research from their bookcases at their homes or anywhere else.

Not Compatible With:

Squinge’s No Autonomous Research & Assignment mod conflicts with College Interactions On Any Lot and will prevent Young Adults from performing their college tasks at their homes or anywhere else.

Pescado’s College Rampage on Macrotastics will not work on these lots if Young Adults remain at their homes.

How To Install:

For XP users, install all of the mods into the Downloads folder or the subfolder in the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\********\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads

Or:

C:\Documents and Settings\********\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\Squinge_College_Mods

******* is the name of your account you use to play Sims 2 on.

For Vista users, install all of the mods into the Downloads folder or the subfolder in the following location:

C:\Users\**username**\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads

Or:

C:\Users\**username**\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\Squinge_College_Mods

How To Play:

Basically, what you do to age teens to Young Adults is to go into Buy Mode and buy the cake. Place it on any counter or table. Direct your teen to the cake and select Age To Young Adult. The teen will then age into a Young Adult and get a new UI panel showing the Freshman first semester. The Sim’s clock does not start. You need to use the Semester Tester to Start Class. Then the Young Adult’s clock will run down from 72 hours to 0 hours as if he/she is on the dorm lot. Play your Young Adult through college and when you’re ready to age your Sim after graduating from college, buy the cake again and use the Age To Adult option.

Technical Support:

Get help by submitting your questions in the Mod Help Section, and we will help you.

With Mr Squinge's permission, I created this thread to make it easier for FreeTime users to find all of the necessary college mods to enjoy a college experience at home with their sim families and not be left in the dust by Apartment Life users.

All credit goes to Mr Squinge for the opportunity to update two of his mods for FreeTime. Please offer chicken grease, chicken and beer to him for being our benevolent God of Mods at Insim. Tongue

NOTES:

5-28-09: Changed link to Ancient Highway's new site to point to the College Isn't Free series correctly.
69  Sims 2 Community Downloads / CAS Scenes & Music / Brick Walled and Wooden Floored CAS Screen on: October 29, 2008, 10:40:18 pm
The custom CAS! mod overrides the original Maxis CAS file. This particular mod has the warm brick walls, wooden floor, furniture, candles, sconces and "rugs" using one carpet color from only the base game (original Sims 2) with a view of the "backyard" full of trees and a large pond. No custom content was used with this one.

You will want to grab Windkeeper's CAS mods from here and install them in your Downloads folder:

CASinvisibleobjects - Family part
CASinvisibleobjects - no mirror
CASinvisibleroundpodium

Install the CAS! mod in the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\**UserName**\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\Custom_CAS_Screens *Or a differently named folder*

Tested with Apartment Life and should be backwards compatible with previous EPs.
70  Resident Creators / EP8 Mods / UI Poses Override - Apartment Life on: October 29, 2008, 02:16:42 am
I made this mod over a month ago after I got sick of seeing the game cycle through all eight poses for my Sims, all five poses for my vampires and 3 poses for both my zombies and werewolves.

The mod overrides the poses in the game for the Sims of all ages. I replaced all eight poses with one pose for all age groups except for the babies, vampires, zombies and werewolves. The vampires had five poses, and both zombies and werewolves had three. I replaced them with one pose for each type of supernatural creature. The babies were excluded since they don't pose problems for me visually.

As far as testing went, the mod appeared to work pretty well. The game will switch between two poses. The one pose was a pose I could not find to replace with a new pose. This is the pose of a Sim with their arms straight out as if the Sim was still in the Bodyshop. But this pose isn't as annoying though. The game do switch, but the only times I've seen this happen is when they change clothes and/or appearances. When a lot is loaded, the Sims are reset to one of the two poses.

The normal males share a slightly different pose from the normal females. Both male and female vampires share one pose as well as both male and female werewolves. The only exception are the male and female zombies. They have their own poses, differing in only facial expressions. Plantsims and Witches are treated as normal Sims, and they don't have their own poses.

Look at the screenshot of the large family and notice their poses.

This is a working mod, and until Mr Squinge or I find that one pose to replace with, the mod will be updated.

Otherwise, this is as good as it will be as a safe alternative to those of us who opted not to edit the .exe files in Sims 2 and don't use cd cracks for the game.

Please do not upload this mod anywhere. This mod is to remain on Insimenator until further notice. For the screenshots, refer to the screenshots below to see them.

Apartment Life is required and not backwards compatible with earlier EPs!

71  Resident Creators / EP7 Mods / Teach Toddler Nursery Rhyme Fun - FT/AL on: October 14, 2008, 02:25:45 pm
This mod boosts the Sims' (both Sim teaching and toddler learning) Fun and Social motives while the Sim is teaching the nursery rhyme to the toddler.

FreeTime is required. Apartment Life compatible.

72  Resident Creators / EP8 Mods / No Autonomous Peekaboo - AL on: October 12, 2008, 06:46:12 pm
This mod curbs the autonomous behavior of older Sims (children and up) wanting to play Peekaboo with toddlers, but the Sims can still be directed to play Peekaboo with the toddlers.

Apartment Life is needed only because this interaction is available with AL.

73  Resident Creators / EP7 Mods / No Autonomous Ask To Be Read To - FT on: October 08, 2008, 03:00:06 pm
This mod STOMPS the autonomous behavior of both toddlers and children when they go pester their older siblings, relatives and parents to read a book to them. The mod does not nerf the option to ask to be read to.

NOTE:

Do not change the filename. This mod needs to be loaded last.

This is an alternative mod besides Squinge's original No Autonomous Reading mod posted here if you have a No Autonomous Diary mod from someone like Twojeff.

FreeTime and Apartment Life compatible.

UPDATED INFORMATION : NOVEMBER 26 2017 - SQUINGE'S MEGA COLLEGE PACK - NOVEMBER 26 2017: UPDATED INFORMATION

I was alerted to an issue with one of the mods included in the original Mega College Pack zipped file through a discussion offsite today. The original College Interactions On Any Lot mod that was included in the Pack zipped file was the wrong version dated back to 2006 rather than 2014. If you have an older version of College Interactions On Any Lot (2006 to be exact) that was included with the original Mega College Pack zipped file, please remove that one and replace with the new mod from the standalone mod called College Interactions On Any Lot v1.1 available in this thread.

75  Resident Creators / EP7 Mods / No Autonomous Hammocks - FT on: October 08, 2008, 12:03:26 am
There are two new hammocks mods: NoAutonomousHammocks and NoAutonomousHammocks-FT-AltVersion.

The main mod will let Sims read autonomously on the hammocks once they're directed to relax on the hammock. This mod curbs the auto behavior of Sims interacting with both cheap and expensive hammocks but they can be directed to relax or play on the hammocks.

The alternate version will not let Sims read autonomously on the hammocks once they're directed to relax on the hammocks. This mod curbs the auto behavior of Sims interacting with the hammocks completely but they still can be directed to relax, daydream, nap or read a book.

This alternate version WILL conflict with Squinge's old No Autonomous Reading mod and do affect both beds and hammocks. So this feature is a bonus.

FreeTime is required.

Apartment Life version is in EP8. Go there to download if you have Apartment Life.
