The Octagon - $34,816 - Laze away the hours sitting on any one of this 3 story condo’s eight cozy balconies or enjoy a scenic view from the ground-level veranda in this octagon-shaped home.  Amenities include a spacious living room, kitchen, master bedroom with large master bath plus a half-bath near the kitchen.  This condo is simple elegance in vibrant shades of red and gray.  Roof access provides a perfect place for a sunset or sunrise party. (Lot location and view in photo not included.)

Furnished with all Maxis content except for the following:

Credit for 1x1 lot (and many other really neat lot sizes) goes to MaryLou at MTS2.  This lot package is required for this house to be placed in the game.  You can find MaryLou’s Mini  Residential Lots at this link:  http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=195469

Credit to Targa for the original Targa Ascension, another necessary item for this house to function as it was intended.  This item is included in the download package however I wanted to point back to the original object page at MTS2 and thank Targa for this amazing object.  Without it this house would not have been possible.:

All Maxis Expansion Packs plus two stuff packs (FFS and GLS) were installed when this house was created.
2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Need to clear pet friendships, STR and LTR on: June 27, 2007, 11:50:02 pm
Thank you Miss Doh.  I'll give that a try.  At least my Sims wants won't be filled with "Make Fido Come Here!"  I'd hoped to just wipe them out of my friends list (Mutual Strangers) but couldn't find an in-game way to do that. I'd been digging around in the Insimenator and found Mutual LTR and STR for pets still on premises but there doesn't seem to be anything for pets off premises or just Sims in general in the friends/acquaintances list and the other heart doesn't cover pets at all it seems.  Guess I could make a request to Squinge but my guess is the poor fella's overworked as it is so I hate to ask anything of him. Smiley

Thanks again!  I've never used this mod.
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Need to clear pet friendships, STR and LTR on: June 25, 2007, 09:48:08 pm
I know this isn't exactly about Seasons but I can't find anywhere else that would be appropriate to post my help request.  If this is the wrong place, please move or point me in the right direction. Smiley

I have a Sim who is stuck trying to raise 20 puppies or kittens. (He got the task before I got the mod to downsize it to 10 so he's stuck at 20.)  He's about 18 or 19 puppies and/or kittens through the task or I hope he is.  I can't find a way to count them other than in his friends list.  All of the puppies and kittens he raised so far are still in his friends list with most of them showing friend and best friend paws, even if the STR and LTR are 0.  His Wants window is always full of wants relating to the past puppies and kittens, all of which are now in other Sims homes.  Is there any way to clear these critters out so they do not crowd his wants window?  I tried everything I could think of with Insimenator but nothing seemed to work after they'd left the lot.  I'm not even sure if I can do it in SimPE.
4  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misc. Mods and Careers / Auto Compost of Tending Garden Plants/Trees on: June 23, 2007, 01:56:09 pm
I gotta try this.  My Sims are complaining that they don't have enough compost for their gardens.
5  Resident Creators / EP5 Mods / No Lightning on: June 08, 2007, 02:28:44 pm
What a wonderful surprise to find a "no lightning" mod!  I didn't like the lightning either or the sharp cracks of thunder but I didn't mind the rain or the softer thunder that was often heard during a rainstorm.
I installed the mod and went into the game and directly to a Sims house that seems to draw thunder and lightning like a magnet.  5 rainstorms in 3 Sim days and not one bit of lightning in any of them.  Lots of rain and a good amount of thunder though.  Most of the thunder was the kind you'd hear in the distance but a few were the rolling rumbling kind that was easily discernable.

Excellent job Squinge! My Sims send their thank yous and praise  :worship:... they now have weather again. Smiley
6  Resident Creators / EP5 Mods / More Servings From Group Meals EP5 on: May 11, 2007, 11:20:13 am
Ahhh... and so since the instant meal group meal isn't served but, instead, sat on the counter, it isn't considered a group meal.  Gotcha Squinge.  Thank you!  Smiley   (the following is no reflection on Squinge but a comment about the program originator) ... That so sounds like typical EA logic. *snickers*
7  Resident Creators / EP5 Mods / More Servings From Group Meals EP5 on: May 07, 2007, 11:41:20 am
Thanks Jen.  I don't recall reading that in the description file or in Squinge's original post.  Glad it was cleared up. Smiley
8  Resident Creators / EP2 Mods / EP2 required Stop Inviting Me Downtown on: May 05, 2007, 11:31:24 pm
Hi Squinge,

Here's another of your mods that my Sims insist on having.  It worked great through Pets but now with Seasons it doesn't work any longer.  I read the thread here and decided I would get some information before I just told you it didn't work for me.  I re-downloaded the mod so I was as current as I could be on it.  Then, I ran SW's Hack Conflict Utility and got "0 possible conflicts".  Then, to be sure, I removed the entire Downloads folder to my desktop.  I created a new Downloads folder and put ONLY the 2 files from the unzip of the "StopInvitingDowntown" unzip. (StopInvitingDowntown.package and mod description.txt) in the Downloads folder then ran the game.  Made a new Sim, put them on a new lot, built a quick house and set them to studying.  The three neighbors came around at 12:30.  He sent them home then had lunch and sat down to study again.  By 3 pm the phone rang and a Sim my Sim had never heard of called and asked him to go downtown.

Sorry Squinge but it just doesn't work for me with Seasons.  Sad
9  Resident Creators / EP5 Mods / More Servings From Group Meals EP5 on: May 05, 2007, 10:44:01 pm
This mod has helped my Sims get to the car pool faster than any mod ever made for the game.  I know many of them would have missed work or else went to work hungry if not for Squinge's "more servings from group meals". Smiley  Not to mention the tons of money they save!

The only group meal I've found that doesn't seem to extend beyond the original 6 is the Instant Meal.  Is this a Maxis thing, something they just do not allow to go beyond 6?
10  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Beginner's Object Recoloring Tutorial? on: March 17, 2007, 01:26:53 am
I read those and even tried them but it's more than just that area where I'm having the problems.  I even have Numenor's recoloring object tutorial printed out and on my desk as is Mike19's object transparency tutorial.  For me, the object isn't showing up in the game and I can't figure out how to get at the description to rewrite it or mod the attributes (comfort, etc.). No tutorials cover those areas and trying to search for the answers is massively time consuming. Sad
I did and still do have the .package files in my Downloads folder.  I even moved the png file over there even though I knew I didn't have to.  Better safe than sorry.

Thanks for trying.
11  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Is it soup yet? on: March 16, 2007, 08:12:18 pm
Hi.  I found this thread and have been looking for that tutorial Beos said he'd post but can't find it.  Did you post it Beos?

I am having a terrible time trying to learn SimPE and doing recolors... can't get them to show up in my game.  I've read just about every tutorial out there but they always seem to talk over my head and not touch all of the bases of questions that I have/had.  I guess I need something for the ultra-beginner, something with training wheels that touches every possible corner.  You got something like that? Smiley
12  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Neighborhoods / Winter Mountain II on: March 11, 2007, 12:29:44 pm
This is a slightly revamped version of the original Winter Mountain, assuring that most of the lots are easily viewed
from the front.  I also added a few more lots when the mountain would let me. Due to the proximity of the mountain
to many of the lots, wide-angle or distance viewing from the backs of lots is usually restricted.

I am not adding an additional photo with this since the views and so similar.

This neighborhood was created by me using Sim City 4 Deluxe with the Rush Hour EP installed.

This neighborhood is being uploaded only to Insimenator.net and is not to appear on any other website, pay or free.  Please honor that.

Enjoy Winter Mountain II!

13  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Neighborhoods / New Neighborhood: Winter Mountain on: March 01, 2007, 02:15:32 pm
I was supposed to go out and get Seasons today but I'm not feeling well so have stayed home.  Nothing better to do so I was playing with Winter Mountain and found a couple of spots that were not to my liking.  I'd read what XPTL297 had written and decided a small revision was in order.  I have revised the terrain but have not uploaded the revision because I'm not sure if anyone would want it. Wink  The revision doesn't add any more roads or mountains but it does reroute a couple of the roads that did not allow a good view of cabins placed along them.

I'd had 14 cabins that were fully constructed and move-in ready on Winter Mountain, grandfathering them in before I got Seasons so they'd be settled when the expansion pack was installed.  6 of those were inhabited.  I kicked everyone out and brought in the revised terrain and have spent the last 2 hours placing lots across the entire scape, double checking to make sure that the lots could be seen and easily constructed on.  There are a couple of spots that I just could not get the lot turned around to my liking.. it would either not be possible due to Sim City 4 building restrictions or road restrictions.  I placed the largest size lot I could in the space available... this is the results of my placements of 125 lots:

2x2 = 47 ..... 3x1 = 10 ..... 3x2 = 32 ..... 5x3 = 7 ..... 5x5 = 3 ..... 2x4 = 6
5x2 = 7  ...... 3x3 = 6 ...... 5x4 = 3 ....... 5x6 = 2 ..... 4x3 = 2

Of course, you don't have to place the biggest lots you can as I did.  I was testing positioning and feasibility.  As I was placing them I realized this might make a fantastic terrain for farming since Sims 2 doesn't recognize mountain terrain (rocky) like Sim City 4 does. There are a lot of grassy slopes in this terrain that would work nicely for the farmer Sims among us.

So, hopefully, this answers any concerns XPTL297 has regarding construction.  I do use the neighborhood camera view mod from MTS2 however that is the only camera mod that I use and I switch that out for a regular view when I play my current main city, Veronaville.  Once I get to the lot, it's all Maxis-based views,.. no mods or hacks of any kind.  I, too,  sometimes have trouble when constructing if anything (house, hill, mountain) is close by because it raises my angle up to the point that I can't see.  That's why I tend to build from the top view.  It's easier for me and I don't get shifted up to angelic height by nearby obstructions. Wink

If I can figure out how to upload this revision as a 2nd file and not destroy the first one, I will do that for those who are interested in a slightly tamer mountain. Cheesy

My sincerest apologies to anyone who has suffered any inconvenience. :|

14  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Neighborhoods / New Neighborhood: Winter Mountain on: February 27, 2007, 12:51:31 am
Snow covered ribbons snake along the peaks and high mountain regions of Winter Mountain, joining cabin to village; connecting mountaineer to their only link with the outside world.  Very few can survive the rugged slopes and harsh conditions of Winter Mountain.  Can you?

There is so much I must tell you about this terrain so please bear with me in this long post.

When I first started creating this terrain more than 3 weeks ago it was my intent to make something extreme... well, as extreme as I could get in Sims 2.   I wanted something that my adventurous Sims could sink their teeth into.  The result is attached to this thread.  This terrain was created specifically for use with the Seasons expansion pack and I created it to be a “year-round” winter landscape.  I’m not suggesting that you stick your Sims in hip-deep snow as I plan to do though.  I just wanted you to know what I was thinking when I made Winter Mountain.  Actually I hadn't planned on sharing this with the outside world but I thought, just maybe, there might be someone else out there who has adventurous Sims too. Wink

Please note: This landscape was not created for those who do not use the Neighborhood Camera Mod.  ((http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=97642))  Although it will work with the small view, play will be difficult due to the elevation of the mountains and you will not see the entire scape... and there’s a lot to see. Unfortunately, Sims 2 doesn’t allow for the rugged peaks that Sim City 4 shows in the original landscape. (See photo for original screenshot)  But, hopefully, it shouldn’t matter once the snow starts to fly. Smiley

This neighborhood was created by me using Sim City 4 Deluxe with the Rush Hour EP installed.  I added a few trees across the mountain peaks but due to Sims 2 usually multiplying SC4 trees by at least 5-10, flora is sparse.  I have EP1 - 4 installed but am not sure you would need them to use this neighborhood (Sorry, I can’t test that theory though.)  I have tested this terrain in my game for the past two weeks and it works without error or problems.  There are more than 125 places to add lots however there are very few, if any, of those that will accommodate anything much larger than a 2x2 and many of those will not be level or be half-imbedded into the side of a mountain.  I did manage to find a spot that would take a 2x4 but those are going to be rare.  Afterall, this is a very mountainous region meaning mostly small cabins and other similar structures are all that’s going to fit.  There are also 3-4 areas that will allow 8 or more lots in close proximity... perfect for a small mountain village or town.  No guard rails though and you must supply your own 4x4s and snow tires. Wink

15  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Neighborhoods / To all... and a personal note to Mike141... on: February 25, 2007, 02:31:52 am
Thank you for the kind words!  They are very appreciated.  I hope you enjoy the neighborhood and will let me know how its playing for you and especially if you have any problems with it.  Might want to check back... I'll be posting a few more Seasons-oriented neighborhoods in the next few days.

To Mike141: Yes, you have to put the files in your "SC4Terrains" which is under the My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/  subfolder.  Once you un-RAR the file you downloaded you will find a .TXT file inside.  It also gives instructions on where the files go, even more specific than these.  It will even tell you where the .PNG files go and what you have to rename them for them to show up in your City list.  If you have any problems feel free to ask here in this thread or PM me here at Insimenator.net and I'll get back to you right away.
