2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sim moved to college, did not become YA. on: January 22, 2007, 12:52:50 am
I had a similar problem. I am assuming that due to the "admissions package" that comes with the inteenimater flavor pack, my sim wasn't able to call on the phone from his neighborhood and go to college. So I sent my teen sim via the neighborhood route and moved him onto a residential lot on campus...he wouldn't age to YA. So I moved him back to his Hood...back into his old residence with mom and dad...removed the "admissions package" from the downloads folder...and the teen was able to go to college using the phone.

Then I just moved him into the same residential lot on campus and got the animation with his mom there while he moved in with a tear in her eye and the teen aged right there on the spot.

I suppose the insiminator would be the quikest route to just age them but I wanted this sim to go through all the proper channels so I could see the animations and stuff.

As far as moving them back to the hood I can't remember how to do it but I know that you can.

Well...I haven't tampered with the time at all. I do have Merola's clock installed but I haven't used it on that lot. Damn!
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Downloads & mods help (newbie here) on: January 18, 2007, 02:22:05 am
Well...you're asking a lot there..Haha.

I'm pretty new also but I can help with a few things maybe.

The 1st thing that I had to get straight is the right downloads folder to place files in. Typically games use the C:>Program files>EAGames>Sims2>Downloads folder...but that's the wrong place. This game creates a Sims2 folder in you DocumentsandSettings folder. That is the downloads folder that you use.

You must enable custom content. While playing the game...go to Game options. Once you have that screen open there are 3 things you need to check.
1.At the top middle of the screen there is a "catalogs display custom content" option...click that on.
2.To the right of that there is a "display custom dialogue at startup" option...turn that off.
3.In that same small box to the right is the small snowflake looking icon that is associated with custom content...click on that icon and another screen opens...at the bottom of that screen is yet another option to turn on custom content...click that on also. This 3rd one held me up for 2 days because noone mentioned it so make sure it's checked.

I have all of my custom content in the downloads folder mentioned above...Skins, clothing, and mods. Apparently if you have Nightlife or later you can use subfolders to keep things better organized but I'm not using any. One thing that I do is keep a separate folder somewhere on my computer with everything in it that I have installed in the game...and I organize that folder.

There is a "collections" folder in the same place your downloads folder is that some files go in...Usually the creator will signify where the content belongs...just read that stuff when you download...and make sure you download and install content that is compatible with the Expansion Packs you're using.

Hope that helps a little.

EDIT: Looks like Boxboy beat me to the punch..Haha...Oh well.
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / College question...missing final exam on: January 18, 2007, 01:29:36 am
This is not an inteen question but I am going to list what I have installed to aid anyone who might want to help.

Sims2holiday/Univ/NL
Insiminator and Inteenimator
Inteenimator flavor packs...
1.ResidentialGraduates
2.NoMiscarriage
3.BackToSchool
4.NoageofConsent
5.NoCommittedRelationships
6.NoFailBirthControl

And a bunch of Squinges Mods

Hunter's shower and Lizzloves waterbed are on the lot. And The insiminator object version...oh yeah...and Squinges "dormcook" mod.

Other than the Inteenimator I have no mods that are related to Teens,School or College.

I have all the patches and the right versions of the obove mods installed.

Problem:

I have a Young Adult who is mid-way through his Junior year in college. He goes to his Final Exam but when he returns the game says he has missed his Final Exam and he gets an A instead of an A+. Up to this point he has aced everything with no problem attending classes and nothing has been installed since he started college.

There is an Adult female living with him who is not a student. I don't know if her presence is relative but I think this may be the 1st final he's taken since she moved in.

I could live with the A this time but I don't want this happening during his Senior Final.

Anybody seen this before?

Back to your lot, this is great and when I get my faster computer, I will try it out.  Thanks for sharing.

I hear ya...My pc handles this lot fine till I get about 10 sims in there and then it gets pretty choppy.

Thanks folks! You know you can make this pad cheaper by simply moving in a test family and then moving them out. That would bring the price down big time...and you can always use the money cheats to give a sim family the opportunity to buy....just give them just enough to buy the property unfurnished and start them from scratch in a huge pad.

11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / put things out of the grid's? on: January 07, 2007, 11:36:28 pm

Galactus - i believe on the Mac platform it is case sensative - but not so on the PC platform.  in fact sometimes it won't recognise the mixed case lettering depending on the EP you have installed and your system's language.

"boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false" - Lets you move objects off the grid

"boolProp snapObjectsToGrid true" - Makes objects snap to the grid

Thanks Beos...Well I just tried it in all lower case and it doesn't work. I tried entering it in the neighborhood view and once in the lot.

Should you have testingcheatsenabled on before entering the snapobjects cheat or something? And where exactly should it be entered?...In the neighborhood view or once in the lot? Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind...it works. I was under the impression that the cheat did something other than what it actually does. I was trying to move objects outside the Lot itself. Rats! I was hoping to do something with a driveway but now that seems impossible.

Unless someone knows of a way to build outside of the Lot grid?

what you are looking for is this:

boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false (this turns it off)

and

boolProp snapObjectsToGrid true (turns it back on - which is the default)

It's not a cheat, though.  BoolProp stands for Boolean Property.  It's a property of the game.  Smiley

Are you saying to type that exactly as you have it? Because normally when using the boolprop cheat I never use a capital letter like the way you have "boolProp". I usually type "boolprop".

I'm asking because I haven't been able to get this snapobjects cheat to work.

Thanks.

Glad you got it figured out Galactus

LOL...Yeah...sometimes it takes awhile for me.

I've never played with babies or toddlers in my lots before...I usually just have pleasure sims who try to bang everyone they can. But while using the insiminator to spawn a townie I accidentally got this little girl toddler on my lot. She was so cute that my sims are gonna trade in their swinger status for swingsets and raise some little sims of their own.

Wish them luck.

Edit: Having never played with kids in the game I'm ignorant of all it entails. I've been picking some things up here and there while downloading all of squinge's excellent child related mods...but I still have questions. Like what is Smartmilk? Is that something that's already in the game? I've gone looking for FAQ's and Walkthroughs for child related stuff but haven't found much. If anyone knows of a good place to read up on kids in the game please share. Otherwise I'm just going in cold turkey and letting the chips fall where they may.

Ok...I just went through every page in this thread and still need to ask...will this mod work with thesims2/univ/NL? Maybe I just missed it somewhere. I know that earlier in the thread it was only compatible with OFB.

Edit: Well...Maybe "no expansion pack required" means it will work. Duh! I'm an idiot!

Now I need a link to that "noharassment" hack mentioned in this thread. Anyone?

Edit: Nevermind...Found it.

I believe there is a hack for that at the MATY site.

What is the MATY site and how do I get there?

Edit:Nevermind...Found it. Freakin acronyms drive me insane!
