I wouldn't mind that in the slightest Smiley
2  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Religious faith versus Non-conformist faith and the Sims 2 on: September 03, 2008, 12:23:18 pm
I’m an atheist (in spite of a lot of people, for some reason, assuming I’m not), and I’m not even baptised. I’ve never been drawn to any religion in a profound way – it just doesn’t ‘click’ for me. As for religion in the Sims 2, or the lack thereof, it’s never really factored in – the game is so utterly Politically Correct and it seems they’ve chosen the middle road in every aspect, including religion and sexuality. Something I really like, by the way; for once I’ve not felt like I’ve been overlooked. It seems to me to be pretty much the most open-minded game I can think of.

There’s enough argument about religion in the world without bringing it into a pretty innocent game like Sims 2. It makes me sad to see different groups in uproar over little things like witches or vampires or whatever it might be that got them going – like others have said before me, it’s a game and it’s a cute, nice, friendly, sweet game at that. There are other things to go ballistic over that are far more provoking for one reason or the other without nitpicking on a game that is guilty, at the most, of using fairytale clichés to depict supernatural beings.

I’m personally looking forward to what else they might come up with… unless it’s yet another creature with green skin, hah.

Yes, yes, I know I’ve promised a natural skin pack and I will do it… but sometimes I have to go where inspiration takes me, and this time, it was to a fantasy skin pack Smiley

I feel a little like embellishing what I said earlier.

First of all, I do not know DLMulsow, I have no quarrel with her and I’m not going to judge her based on what I’ve heard here or what others might say. I’ll go ahead and make my mental sketch from what I’ve read of what she has said instead, which is her public announcement and then later her replies to the people discussing the issue with her in the specific thread on her forum.

Having said that, I’ve been enough amused by her reaction that I’ve told my friends about it and some have even read her letter – I would have done the same if it had been a Wiccan forum forbidding the use of Santa-imagery due to Christianity, because that would have been just about as ridiculous. It is true that she has the right to kick whoever she likes out of her forum but with that, it’s also true that they have the right to speak openly about their opinions of her elsewhere, and that the rest of us can talk about the issue as well. It’s only fair. There’s obviously no room to discuss it with her so this is the only venue.

I’ve run a couple of forums in my days, and though I’m not a Christian, I’ve never once kicked anyone out for showing a picture of baby Jesus or daring to defend their beliefs to me.

I’ve laughed a bit about what DLMulsow has done, since I first read it, but I understand that it’s also genuinely upsetting for those that were kicked out – it sucks to find out that someone you admired has such a narrow view of the world.

At the end of the day, what happened was as absurd as someone deciding that a teletubby is gay because it has a handbag, and just as insulting and belittling to every party involved… not to mention the loss of respect DLMulsow will suffer from the incident.
5  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / why is everyone so pessimistic about the sims 3? on: September 01, 2008, 06:19:03 am
I’m… cautious. I’m going to wait and see how easy it’ll be to make new skins and retextures before I buy it. I’m liking the idea of the open city and everything I’ve heard about the gameplay, but I’m not too keen on the graphics and if it’s too much of a hassle to make skins, then it’s a no-no for me.

Ehh… I think that’s the last time I visited that site. The whole thing seems a little absurd, to me.
7  Retired Creators / Skins for the Skinless / More eyes... on: August 30, 2008, 04:09:41 pm
Glad you guys like Smiley

The eyelashes on the Sim on the right (her name's Orchid) are from Peggysims - they're an accessory so they're not makeup.
8  Retired Creators / Skins for the Skinless / More eyes... on: August 30, 2008, 03:27:08 pm

Just a few eyes to entertain you; I'll make more later Smiley

There's ten of them, all included in the .rar - just delete the ones you don't want.

The Pixie Warmth skin is sort of an Asian skin with a darker tone to it (it's my personal favourite). I've got a new 'pale' Asian skin which is really just a version of THAT skin but lighter, that I'll release later -

Right now, the Bathory project is slightly on hold while I'm waiting for the dress mesh, and I'll probably release a pack of eyes instead, soonly.

Well... I'll always make more skins, it's what I love the most to make to be honest, but like I said, next project is Elizabeth Bathory. I'm thinking of making a set of different-toned normal skins after that.

As for that Rosesims hair, yeah, I retextured the flowers for a few pictures I was going to take.

Soooooo pretty.
12  Retired Creators / Skins for the Skinless / Pixie Colours on: August 25, 2008, 07:33:16 pm

I’ve received a lot of requests for different coloured skins without elaborate patterns on them, so I’ve finally sat down and finished them. Here it is –

Pixie Sleet comes packed with Silk eyes.

Pixie Bruise comes packed with Violet eyes.

Pixie Emerald comes packed with Gem eyes.

Pixie Chalk comes packed with Smoke eyes.

Pixie Cold comes packed with Chill eyes.

Pixie Heat comes packed with Flame eyes.

Pixie Nightwalker comes packed with Shadow eyes.

No makeup used in the pictures but the eyebrows aren’t included. Enjoy!

13  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / what would be your first request for the sims3 if custom content is created? on: August 25, 2008, 07:28:52 am
Custom hair meshes I suppose. But I'm not getting the game until I know if I can create my own skin tones for it.

Drains the fun out of it for me if I can't.

A jewel set could be fun... I love making intricate skins. I suppose I should release a skin collection with just clean non-embroidered skins but it feels so boring. I'll try to sit down some time this week and just make some five or six different colours without any patterns or anything, then later do a jewel-set... but right now, I AM working on Elizabeth Bathory. She'll have a different vampire skin that's lighter, unique makeup including bloody lips, new eyes, a retexture of a hair I'm still looking for, and some clothes.

If anyone knows how to do meshes and wants to work together with me, please have a look at this. I think it will be a fun project and I'd appreciate the help.

About the Pixie Monochrome set - I keep meaning to upload it but I never get around to it. I don't have the skins in my game right now after the crash, I'll see what I can do.

Not sure what I'd do with a witch skin before I've seen the real thing ingame D: I don't want to put any warts on any of my Sims, hehe.

Will give some android-thingie a bit of thought, nothing springs to mind though. Right now I'm doing some stuff for the ANTM contest and after that I'll try to find an appropriate dress-mesh for Liz.
