16  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Linking content to in-game textures for smaller files on: February 25, 2007, 10:51:12 pm
Okay, I could use a little SimPE help here. How exactly do you link body shop content to in-game textures? For example, let's say you're only making a alpha edit or mesh edit of a Maxis hair and you don't want the other textures in the package file since you're not exactly recoloring them so the file can be smaller. I've always used that recolor method for my hidden Maxis content that I've found, and the package files end up being really big. Could anybody help give me the instructions for how to just link to the texture files in the game so that my said content can be smaller and dial-up friendly? Smiley
17  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Male Hair / Hidden Maxis Hair Textures for Uni Bandana on: February 16, 2007, 08:14:17 pm
Now when I first found these hidden in the Uni EP, it was a bit of a shocker! LOL
I found some special hidden hair textures for the bandana hair from Uni, and they look creepingly similar to hair textures you would find on those fancy CC sites. Now if only Maxis (or EA as it's now called) could do more hair textures like this, a lot of people would be more satisfied with them already.
For males ages young adult to elder, they've also been color-binned in the basic Maxis colors as well as a dark brown haircolor under custom content.
And as I was looking through these hidden hair textures, I also found a large hair texture image which looked suitable for you skinners out there, so I thought I'd include that as a bonus download. Smiley It's the PNG image below.
Feel free to recolor to your hearts content, but please don't be claiming you extracted this yourself. And remember that Uni is required for this to show up in your game.

Enjoy! Wink
18  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Mixed Clothing / Hidden Maxis Sweatsuits on: February 06, 2007, 10:32:32 pm
Here are some hidden sweatsuit recolors I unlocked from the base game.

The first one is the male sweatsuit colored black with red stripes, the second one is the black female sweatsuit but with out the bright green lines, and the last two are black sweatsuits with white stripes for both genders.

Enjoy! Smiley
19  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Mixed Clothing / Hidden Pink Striped Toddler Clothes on: February 06, 2007, 10:20:59 pm
All of the clothes for toddlers show up in the game except for this pink striped one. Shows up both genders.

Enjoy!
20  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Men / Unlocked Male Longcoat on: February 06, 2007, 10:14:40 pm
Here's something else you might have seen in debug mode, and now it's unlocked for your general use! Smiley
It's a male trench coat for adult males, one of them being green with a tattoo on the chest, and the other black with a shirt underneath.
Enjoy! Wink
21  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Women / Unlocked Female Clothing with Suspenders on: February 05, 2007, 10:15:55 pm
You might have seen this in debug mode, and now it's been unlocked from the game for your own personal pleasure! Cheesy
It's a cool, sporty-looking outfit for adult females with suspenders, gloves, boots and tattoos. The first one is a green camo one, and the other is a more wintery-like one. And feel free to do whatever you'd like with it, after all, it was made by Maxis.
Hope you like! Wink
22  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Make Up / Hidden Maxis Freckles on: February 05, 2007, 08:57:18 pm
Yet another little goody I found hidden in the base game files, freckles! Smiley

Shows up in full-face makeup for all ages and genders, works best with the lighter skintones.
Now I tried to make it work better with darker skintones, but it ended up looking like they had dirt on their face. Maybe more experienced recolorists could have a better go at it if they wanted to.

Still, enjoy! Smiley
23  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Accessories / Unlocked Maxis Glasses with Frames on: February 05, 2007, 08:48:55 pm
Here's a little goody I found hidden in the base game, glasses with frames! Cheesy
They're in the basic black and tortoise shell colors, and are recolorable.
Shows up for teen/elder and both genders.
Feel free to do whatever you'd like with them, after all, they were made by Maxis.

Enjoy! Wink
24  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Make Up / Hidden Maxis Aging Stages on: February 01, 2007, 11:35:39 pm
Some aging stages I found hidden in the base game for whoever's interested. In full-face makeup for adults, elders and both genders.
Chances are you'll only be using those first few, I bet.
25  Simmers' Paradise / Tutorials / Micro-tutorial: Loading movie, be gone! on: January 31, 2007, 06:14:22 pm
Another very-much-smaller tutorial for getting rid of that opening movie which was cool on that "first play," but is probably by now a complete waste of load time. :smt120

1. Go to the EA Games folder where you have TS2 installed, (Not the folder in "My Documents") and then to the base game folder.
2. Now go to TSData\Res\Movies.
3. Look for a .movie file named "intro_eng_audio" (The "eng" part in the file name might be different depending on your game language)
4. Move, delete, or rename this file.

And that's it! You'll no longer have to click the mouse at the Maxis logo again!

Also, if you wish to take out the little EA logo movie as well, repeat the same steps as above except go to the game folder of your latest EP or Stuff Pack installed, and look for a .movie file named "ealogo_audio." You may need to repeat these steps if you install a new EP or SP since there might be a new EA logo movie file in the new pack.
And as for removing the Maxis logo at start-up, that goes beyond me, unfortunately. :dontknow:

Once again, happy loadings! Wink
26  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / The lost NL remix? on: January 26, 2007, 06:40:36 pm
I was looking at the guy who does the music for the sims 2 (Mark Mothersbaugh) on napster and I came across the single for the sims theme remixes for the Nightlife EP which came out not too much of a while ago in October. I expected only the Junkie XL remix to be on there, but their was another remix I never heard in the game:
The Sims Theme (Ralph Myerz and The Jack Herren Band Remix)
Now why didn't they include this remix with Nightlife? A bonus track, perhaps? I heard it and it doesn't really sound half bad, a lot like the other remixes from NL, in fact.

Just listen for yourself in this video I made here Smiley

To get it for yourself, go to Napster (if you've got a free music account there)
Or to iTunes (clicking the link will open up iTunes to said single)
Or search for Mark Mothersbaugh at your other favorite music store
27  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Sims / Redd - Raised from the depths of bodyshop (YA, Uni EP req'd) on: January 24, 2007, 08:32:39 pm
This sim is actually one of the first sims I ever download off the exchange, and I've had him ever since then and I also really like his red goth/punk style. He was originaly a teen, but I converted him and his clothes to a young adult because it seems to suit him better. Wink

Edit: Wow, I acually found the original sim! He's by Dport000 at the exchange. (link here)
On another note, I'm sorry to all the CC-philes for the lack of custom skins on my sims. I admit that I am actually indifferent about Maxis skins.
No meshes needed, just the Uni EP since he is a YA.

Enjoy! Smiley

28  Simmers' Paradise / Tutorials / A small tutorial for setting back the loading music to past packs on: January 23, 2007, 03:59:21 am
This is the first tutorial I've ever made, so I'll try explaining this my best.
I'll explain how you can set back the loading music in your game back to an earier EP, SP or even the base game. The loading music (aka splash music) is the music that you hear when you're starting up the Sims 2 game and which also differentiates which each EP or Stuff Pack.

1. Go to the EA Games folder where you have TS2 installed, and then go to the game folder that has the splash music that you want. I want to hear the loading music from the base game, so I'm going to the original Sims 2 folder that has it.

2. Next, go to TSData\Res\Sound, and look for a package file named "Splash". Copy this file.

3. Now go back the the EA Games folder and click the game folder which is the lastest EP or SP you have installed right now.

4. Repeat step 2, except rename this splash file a different name. I'm going to call it "Splash (original)", but you can choose the name.
Or you can just move the splash file to another location that you'll remember.

5. Use the paste function to paste the other splash file that you copied earlier from the previous Sound folder into the one in your current EP/SP sound folder. Make sure you don't overwrite the other splash file.

6. And you're done! Close the browser window, start up you game, and relive the thrill of that "first load!" Cheesy

I hope this helps anybody who doesn't like their current loading music, liked previous ones before, and wants to change it back. Happy loadings! Wink
29  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / Abandoned Maxis tutorial lot on: January 12, 2007, 07:34:58 am
My first ever uploaded lot, I believe.
One day, I noticed that there are five tutorials in the game, but there are six lots in the tutorial neighborhood folder. So I took a look at the extra lot by moving the tutorial lots into the LotCatalog folder, loaded up the game and this is what I found: An abandoned, Maxis-made lot with four individual houses which seems like some sort of small building tutorial. I looked back at the lot later on and it was called "Creative Textures." I think it was a tutorial since there were a few things missing like a staircase, some walls, and some wallpaper, so I put them were they would be so you didn't have to. I also made two versions for residental and community since I didn't know exactly which kind of lot it should be.
The one with Com in the name is the community version, and the one with Res is the residental version. And obviously, no EP's needed and no custom content whatsoever. Costs around 63k.

Enjoy! Smiley
