You know the more I learn from those brave souls who have the game, the less I like about it. It really sounds like it was designed for 5 to 9 year olds. I do respect evey ones opinion though. I just wish that there were a few more good reasons to buy it. Hidden potential resides in many places, but the ability to put that potential to work is some times more of an effort than it's worth.

Hmmmm.......I was just thinking an XXX game with pudgy faced playdough creatures. Are you all talking about Spore? 

How about starting with a well tested bug free base game?? Any one think that would be a good place to start wishing? EA looks to have dropped the ball on this one. Who wants an EP of more ugly pastic funky looking kinda sims and sim stuff?? I do not have the game, and in all likelyhood will not. The reviews tell the story. Read some from different sites. Forget Ep's, we need a real base game first.

This was in Game Informer last year, I can't remember for sure, but Oct-Dec. somewhere in there. They had a little write up and a couple pictures of these sh.., oh yea, PG-13, almost forgot.  Any way these things,(did not look close enough to a Sim, to be called. a Sim) were standig and roaming around a Downtown area. Right Then I said to my wife; "No way can I tolerate this on my computer. If you want it get it. They will need massive improvments to the sim creations to lure me in again."

Of course I mean lure me into Base Game, :patch, EP 1 :Patch, SP1.......  We all know this story! How many of us have every darn EP, SP and a ton of CC?? I would wager everyone who is a member and can afford it. In my case times 2. We are totally legal in that my wife and I have our own store bought copy of every thing. We bought new computers to be able to enjoy our game. We talk about our game to each other because it is relevent to us. We see things on a ride through town and say "Wish I had that for my Sims!. Oh! Look at that girls outfit!! Almost like that H&M SP one, wow!"

I have spent this day reading from various sites peoples first impressions of the Sims 3. What is the first complaint from almost all?? Look at them ugly sims. They look like plastic, have sucky hair and creepy eyes!! My impression from GI last year. EA will not get the business from me until they put out a good game as a sequel, not some far in the past story like in Star Wars. It worked pretty good for Star Wars, but this crap don't fly with the Sims. My opinion not the web sites, owners, or moderators. Good luck to those who venture in. Good luck that the great minds that have helped make the Sims 2 so much fun might improve this fiasco.

I passed, easily. Not that I had any doubt.  The main reason I checked was to see the shader model requirement. I am surprised it is only 2.0 . I had figured it to be 3.0 at least. That way the Dx 9.xx cards would work. Good luck to all. I will be waiting to hear reviews before buying. Oh, reviews from the real world players, not a game sales business. 

It is almost comical reading this thread. Why would EAxis do any thing on time? Why would they do anything to benefit the player's? There really is no need! Why just this thread alone will spark an aggressive feeding frenzy once the game releases. I have every The Sims ep. I have all of The Sims 2 ep's and all sp's except for IKEA and M&G's. I for one don't care when it releases. There is no way I will get caught up in the new EP every 6 mos. routine.UNLESS......it is an amazing game beyond anything the sims 2 ever provided. Not likely, but possible. So please...Everyone buy the Sims 3 and write a review on it. Then I will decide wether or not to buy it, say by June of 2010 . Please don't think I am being harsh, I do love my Sims. But what I have seen and read of version 3 has left me quite unsure about the quality and time  value of the game.

I really wonder how a np roomate feels being manipilated like a dog?? I read this advice some place but didn't pay close attention to it, so thanks for posting squinge. Of course I haven't tried getting my sims any roomies yet, so maby that's why I didn't pay closer attention to the details!

secretlywritten, have you ever installed a patch for any Sims 2 game??  I just wonder if you are trying to open the patch file from the internet, instead of downloading it?? Go to the page the patch is on, click the link, when the dialogue box opens choose save. Save the patch to a place you can find it easily on your computer. Put in the AL disk, go to the patch and double click on it. It is a self extracting exe. file. It will patch the game and then tell you the update was sucessful. Give this a try and see if it woks for you.

I said "Other..."  Not going to buy for a long time for two reasons. 1) I have not fulfiled every Sims 2 wish as of yet. 2) Now for the "Other". Teen WooHoo, you know it will not be in the default game, and stability and sensibility in program code. If EAxis can not learn to make a game with proper Beta testing and corrections done before release...well then I will never buy it. I also will not be sucked into this eight EP's to get what they promise for the base game.

If you backed up your game properly before replacing the mother board, simply restore it. If your board went down before you could back up the game, make sure that you have the exact same EP's and SP's installed as before or the old game will not work properly or at all. This is also true of the fist line I wrote. You cannot delete an EP or SP and keep the same game.

Yes, as always I will buy this new EP on first day available in a store. Why?? I want the whole game. I see people complain about stuff packs. I have them all and would not think of playing with out them In fact the only title for the sims 2 that has been 100 % disapointing from game play side is stinking Pets. I keep it in as another stuff pack. I like most of the new objects and the build mode options, but the game play of Pets stinks. IMO of course! I think we have all been burn't on this giant of a game. It still does not allow many things promised befor the base game release. The video trailers should be for wheting our appetites, but what they show turns out to be the whole shabang for a given object\interaction.

Am I excited for the release of a new EP? Yes! I would be a liar if I said otherwise. I love this silly game that I as a grown adult enjoy like I was a young teen with an attitude. I hope it will be as goog as seasons and NL were. Seasons is hard on graphics, but an incredible addition to game play. NL added the most intersting of new interactions included in any one release. But I hold my breath on this because with the end of another year approaching, it seeme the end of this vibrant community is ending also. So much dispute, so much fighting, and so many of the old timers starting to retire or just disapear from the community forums. I will enjoy this while it lasts. I have no intrest in a Sims 3 release. I would like to see this game perfected and this community continue. But money drives the world and change is an inevitable thing. My guess is that this was a great way to get posters off the secu-rom posts. I loved Making Magic, It was far and away the best EP of the Sims 1. (IMO). I think it's time for them to be wrapping up the sims 2 and start working up ideas for the sims 3. I wish them well as I at present have no intention of buying Sims 3. I do want all of the Sims 2 though. There a lot of things in the Sims 2 I haven't done yet. Thanks to our great modders many problems and omissions from the game have been corrected\added. EAxis will do what they please so it is really a mute question they have asked.
