331  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Pictures / Post Your Favorite Sim Families on: March 01, 2007, 11:10:03 am
Everybody, just as a tip, try avoiding quoting the actual pictures. First of all, it's not good for that persons bandwith, and also, it's non-usefull to scroll over the same pictures 3 times, while you've seen them even before that. ^^
332  Simmers' Paradise / Contests & Challenges / Photoshop Tutorials/General Photo Editing links and advice on: February 28, 2007, 02:33:23 pm
Ofcourse not. ^^
I'll get a screenshot of it right away.

---

When opening your picture in GIMP, you go to the layers dialog. There you click something that looks like a clean sheet of paper.

When you click that, a new window opens. In that window, check if the fill type of your layer is set on 'Transparency'. Also, you shouldn't need to change the size of your new layer. It is supposed to be exactly the same size as your original picture. And thats the size that you'll need.
---

There, I hope that was clear enough. ^^ If you need any other help, just ask, and I'll see what I can do. ^^

That's what I'd been wondering as well!!! THANKS!!!!!
Oh and  how do you create a transparent background? I'm a little slow, if you all haven't noticed...Smiley

What exactly do you mean with a transparent layer? Is that the 'New Layer' in my tutorial? Because I can easily expain that to you. ^^

I've never had MM for Sims 1, I only had Livin' Large and Unleashed, so I really don't know. But vacation always looked cool, so I wouldn't mind that.

Oh guys what I was wondering, what romantic activities that came with Hotdate in Sims 1, were also introduced in Nightlife? (like the thing where they could carress each others feet)

Haha, no problem. ^^ I'm glad I could help.

The funny thing is, my dad is soo good with computers, but I'm better with GIMP than he is. *proud grin*

Purple, if you read all the posts in the thread, you might find out why there haven't been any updates, and why there won't be any. Smiley

Wow, in all your games the Pleasant family guy is still an adult. In my game he's aged into an elder already.

Aaw, thank you. ^^
Your example picture is a whole lot better than mine though. Tongue
340  Simmers' Paradise / Contests & Challenges / Putting a sim on another background - GIMP tutorial on: February 23, 2007, 11:36:39 am
Oh and Cinamun, I know at least a few things that work a bit different in GIMP.
So I'll try to give a kind of tutorial with GIMP, only I'll use a random old picture
for it, instead of a Sims 2 pic, because I don't have those on this pc.

To be able to get a transparent background, you'll first have to create a new layer, then duplicate your background. Delete the original background, and move your new transparent layer underneath your duplicated background.
(tell me if you need more explanation on creating new layers and duplicating old ones)

Before you continue, double check that you've selected the top layer (your actual picture).

After that, you select the 'Fuzzy Select' and click on the background(color) of your picture. After you've selected that part, press Ctrl+X, that cuts the background out of the picture.
(extra note: You'll have to play around with the threshold to select the parts you want gone)

Then repeat that in other places where you have your background, for example the space between the hair and body.

After removing all that, and having just your sim(s) left, with no original background, you can delete the extra layer.

Open up your new background.
Press Ctrl+C while having your original picture selected, then go to your 'new' picture, press Ctrl+V there. Move your sim(s) around on their new background, untill they're on the correct spot, and save your file.

Tadaa. ^^

I hope that that's clear enough. Smiley I've never tried it with a Sims picture, but I'm positive it'll work. Cheesy

James is very excited about the baby! (wait untill you find out it's twins! Tssjk..)

And so is Marylena. (are you sure, you do know that there are 2 babies you have to get out of yourself?)

Sorry, I forgot to sharpen some of my new pictures..

Oeoeh, I have some expression-shots from my Legacy family.

Aren't they extremely cute with those faces? <3

Well, doesn't everybody look that concentrated when picking his nose? Wink

I get a feeling that she wants to get out of her crib..

She did not like the burglar. At all.

Baby number 3 is on the way out! (I'm so glad it's not twins again!)

Sorry, I forgot to sharpen some of my new pictures..
