46  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: What are you currently doing (besides being here)? on: October 07, 2014, 03:08:50 pm
Taking some time to rest my hand, carpal tunnel is acting up like mad. Still unpacking, sorting, throwing things away and arranging stuff around the house since the last move. Also getting used to sweeping up, YUCK, DOG fur from my wood floors. Yeah, you read that right, we now have a dumb dog named Stan. He's a German Shepherd (Alsatian for those in Britain) and Siberian Husky mix and as stupid as a post! Two years old when we got him last month and still hasn't learned his place in the household; he thinks that he outranks my son in the pecking order. I don't think so. Scared of his own shadow and it doesn't help that my furry girls ambush him at the same time. The bedrooms are right across from each other and they both pop out and hiss at him at the same time, like they've planned it in advance. I never knew that a dog could do a cartwheel...

*rolls over and blinks sleepily* I can't have coconut, I'm allergic as all you know what to it and you guys can't afford the vet bills. I AM having a major craving for some sushi, sashimi and other Asian foods, though, as well as some bacon style SPAM.

Trying to visit old haunts and found out that none of my browsers can connect with Sapphire Sims any more. Wonder if they packed it in and gave up or just moved and didn't leave a forwarding addy. Enjoying the rare moments of peace in the new place while doing random stuffs on FB and checking out the places I go to when I go to them. Such a vastly entertaining life I lead now that I'm getting old. Cheesy

Congrats to all the new parents and the new lives that are being lived! Sorry I've not been around, but we just got moved into the new house nearly seven months after the rental home was sold out from under us. We spent the whole time out at that motel room, which was more like a studio flat, and the changes in our son are stupendous. He learned how to socialize much better, got used to sleeping in a bed of his own, help with chores in keeping a place picked up and to communicate better without constant frustrations. He also discovered the discomfort of mosquito bites gotten when taken on outs to parks and down near the banks of a river. Still trying to get him to stop scratching at them...

Now that we've moved into the house, he's sleeping in a room all of his very own, helping to load and unload the dishwasher and learning to avoid tripping over an excited kitten. Back in the beginning of March/end of February, we took in a rescue kitty and adopted her as our own, not knowing that she was pregnant. On the night of April 27th, she gave birth to three kittens under his bed. Two of the kittens have gone to their forever homes but we still have Floyd, for now. He'll be going to his home when his human gets home from Albania.

Anyways, I'm getting used to hardwood floors, appliances that work differently from what I've experienced in the past, and a basement that I still get lost in... I look at it this way; if we do get a tornado, we'll at least be able to head down to the basement and be safe in a bit of comfort for once! For the first time since I moved away from where I grew up, at long long last, I feel like I'm HOME. And that says a lot. It's been a great deal of work to get here with the husband and son but now that we're here, just let me say one thing: What a long, strange trip it's been.

We're pretty economical around here, really. Uh, Jenna, you haven't been putting old SPAM labels on the Dork Chow again, have you? I don't want some of the folks who enjoy the stuff to get hold of his special blend, you know what it does to their digestive systems...

And I will dig the holes to bury the remaining parts in. Don't give me that look, I've seen where you've left fingers and toes behind, don't try to deny it. And no chucking them into my litter box again, I KNOW what belongs there and I don't eat those!

Condolences and much love coming your way, it really hurts when someone we love so much is no longer with us except in our hearts.

Report that she's using an image of yours without your permission and harassing you. Try to get her butt tossed off of there for inappropriate behavior. From what I understand, they don't care for that kind of thing.

Looking on ebay to find a used copy of Sims 2 Seasons so I can play my game again. Stupid me put it into the wrong box, which got sent out to storage when we moved and now I can't play. I have plenty of time on my hands to play, too! I get the place cleaned, beds made, dishes done and all way before nine in the morning, leaving me to either putz around on Facebook or watch Netflix. Hate to say it, but I'm bored, Louie! I could recolour some content, but I'd like to be able to see how it looks in game before putting it onto Mediafire for download. I have all the textures and meshes on my flashdrive, which is sixteen gigs large, but still... Meh!

We got approved for the house loan, now we're in negotiations to get the place and moved out of the hotel where we've been staying for the past (almost) month. We had my mother-in-law foster two of my cats and her husband gave away the male, Plops, without even asking if that was OK with us. Did I ever SCREAM and raise holy... He is under pain of DEATH to keep his stupid hands away from my girl, Squall, or I will emasculate him with a rusty pen knife. (Trust me, I have one ready just in case.) We can't get Plop back because he gave her to an older lady, who happens to have six already! I'm still so dratted mad about that...

And Katie, my heartfelt congratulations and consolation about the baby and being alone without her daddy right now, but it's going to turn out all right, just wait and see!

Freezing my butt off here at the hotel we had to settle at because the owners of the property we rented us sold it and evicted us. Stupid me had the heat settings confused and needless to say, was using the COOLING instead. *facepalm* Also waiting for my son to get home from school and missing both of my cats because they went to stay with my husband's mother until the house we're going to buy opens up for us to move into. Her husband already gave my boy cat away and next time I see that man, I'm gonna hurt him. If he tries to place the little female with someone else, he will be in the hospital for a long, long time... I miss my pets...

I know how that goes, kids and pets just don't rest for long because there is too much to do and get into. I've done the same with my downloads folder, taking a leaf out of your book on that one. I've done quite a number of recolours on furniture and build mode stuff for my own game, I've gotten to be a real pain in the arse when it comes to the wood trim in the houses I build.
