46  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Sims Medieval: Arrival date March 2011 on: August 30, 2010, 10:19:24 am
Hm... not real sure where to post this. Is it Sims 2? It's Sims related...

For awhile now, and as I've mentioned briefly in other posts, I have been toying with the idea of creating a medieval themed 'hood. I have searched for CC, including transportation and terrains that will help with the theme. However, I really do not wish to change ALL my 'hoods, because every 'hood has a different theme and I like it that way.

I was recently checking out Amazon for the next Sims 2 EP when I happened to stumble onto "Sims Medieval"! It looks pretty cool! It gives you quests and you can build your kingdoms and play out a whole different theme Sim-style without changing your other 'hoods in the process.

My only complaint is the look of the Sims (they look like the Sims from "3" ~ no offense to those of you who play the game). But that's a small price to pay to not look into the actual gameplay, I think. It's a great way for me to play Sims medeival style without having to add / remove terrains and transportation every time I go in to play a 'hood.

My question was ~ has anyone else discovered this or have done some research on this game? I can find very little as of now, which might be on purpose to promote public interest. My added on question was ~ "I would like to know if this game is like "Age of Empires", where once you finish the quests, your game is over, or if you can create kingdoms and no matter how many quests you finish, if you can just keep playing (like normal Sims games)?"

I just answered it through another website link: Yes, it is like "Age of Empires". However, I'm hoping it's different. I hope the games are ended after the quests / kingdoms ambitions are fulfilled and not ended on a timer. Maybe I can lengthen the amount of time spent on each game. This doesn't change my interest in buying it. It just opens up the possibility of adding medieval CC to my original Sims 2 game and then pulling it out again when I want to play another 'hood (which is what I was hoping to avoid).

To any of you who are also interested in this new game, here's a link:

http://thesimsmedieval.com/
(very little info, but interesting)

If you don't have any new info, any thoughts to this game? Would you look into buying this for yourself?

Administration: Did I place this post in the right spot? I have no idea where else it would go...
47  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Best Default Replacement on: August 30, 2010, 09:55:12 am
This is funny, because I know that I have made some great default replacements in the past. The funny part is I have had them so long, I can't remember which default replacements I have made. I don't know if body hair is one of them, but if it is ~ that is one of my faves. But I think for the most part, my best replacements have been useless Maxis objects. I'm kind of worried about downloading skintones ~ unless they're Warlokk's or Beosboxboy's ~ and even then, I believe they're Body Shapes, not Skintones. Plus, they're add-on's, not considered default replacements.

The worst default replacement was something I did by accident ~ if you can call it a default replacement. I had downloaded some themed set (names will not be mentioned to protect the guilty). The set had completely overwritten the white statue of the female version of "David". Ticks me off, too. Because shortly after that, I created a museum and needed to use it. So, now I don't know how to fix it, unless I erase the set, in which case, I really do like certain things that's included within it.

But, C'est la Vie! You live, you learn. Sometimes when you download, you roll the dice.

I love the Asian theme, HappyThoughts. Great idea! And a Victorian theme sounds pretty cool, too, cgirl.

Currently underway, I have began creating two different 'hood themes. One was an Area 51 theme. I created my own Area 51 (Area 91) with secret passages, interrogation rooms, holding cells, cells to hold the aliens, laboratories, a small employees living quarters, and a faux real estate office above for new residents in the middle of the desert. I just transformed Strangetown and gave it a more complex background story. In fact, the head of Area 91 has just fallen in love with one of the female alien species (accidental, but great for story).

I may have to find some of your medical items for this 'hood, Theraven, if you are creating them.

Also, I have just created a 'hood that is mafia themed. I'm starting with two opposing mafia heads (who own almost every business in the downtown area). I threw in the head of a vigilante group to shake things up between them. It's kind of like Crimeville in Sim City. The police are corrupt and the streets are overrun with street gangs. I'll tell you, though ~ it really pays off to have mods and hacks to help this theme style really take off!

Wow. Maybe you have something that's conflicting with the health adjuster for some reason. I hope you find the problem. But don't give up hope on finding a health adjuster elsewhere and "sold separately". Like I said, there may be individual adjusters out there somewhere!

Yeah, it slowed down and even crashed my friends computer a few times, too.

Btw: I hate winter too ~ but because I can't stand snow. It's all good and pretty until someone has to walk or drive in the crap.

Actually, the InSimenator (and the Simblender, I'm sure) can do this. It can manipulate a Sim's weight with a "Health" toy where you have the option to control whether a Sim is "Fit", "Default" (normal weight) or "Overweight".

Note: Even thought the InSim says it's unsupported doesn't mean it doesn't work.

I'm sure that each of those items, though (that make up the Blender and the InSim), are found separately and can be downloaded separately, as well. But I'm not 100% sure about that.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I'll have to check that out.
53  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / 'Tis the Season for Memory on: August 23, 2010, 08:35:08 am
I have a friend who owns Seasons. She only plays with spring, summer, and fall, and then skips winter, going back to spring. She says that you have to have an incredible amount of memory to be able to play winter, especially if it snows a lot. Is this true? I was just curious, because I really would like to get Seasons, still, and would just like to be prepared.

Ah, that's too bad. Squinge has always been one my favorite modders.

Ah... yeah, nice catch, Paden. Good line, I agree.

Good to know, Jenna. Thanks for the heads up.
57  Simmers' Paradise / Mods & Careers / Re: Tubes Tied on: August 22, 2010, 02:54:16 pm
I don't know about getting "tubes tied". But I do know that there is a way to make it so that your Sims are protected so they can't reproduce. The Inteenimator mod has the ability to do so, as well as giving the option to miscarry or skip pregnancy stages. It also has some other great options as well.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put the link here or not (because we don't support Inteen, here), but check it out over at Simbology. The download is compatible with all of your EP's.

On a personal note ~ It's the best mod, next to InSim, that I've downloaded into my game.

I believe that Squinge's mod, " Hula & More" has the animations you would want for someone being ill.

There's also a mod for throwing up here if you don't already have it:

59  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: Favorite Quotes? on: August 21, 2010, 10:28:56 am
Wow... there are way too many quotes that I love for me to write them all down here. I even have a "Favorite Quote Book" I started a few years back. Let me see if I can narrow some of my favorites of all time (I can always add more in later):

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Half of writing history is hiding the truth.

Inara Serra: Mal, what are you doing here?
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: You invited me.
Inara Serra: I never thought for a second you'd be stupid enough to come!
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Well that makes you a tease.
(Serenity)

Marty McFly: Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean? (Back to the Future)

Annie Proffit: I'm living in a nightmare that begins at the crack of dawn. (Overboard)

Anthony "Swoff" Swofford: Every war is different. Every war is the same. / A story: A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle. (Jarhead)

Indiana: Meet me at Omar's. Be ready for me. I'm going after that truck.
Sallah: How?
Indiana: I don't know, I'm making this up as I go!
(Raiders of the Lost Ark)

Han Solo: Wonderful girl. Either I'm going to kill her or I'm beginning to like her. (Star Wars IV: A New Hope) / *after cutting open a Ton-Ton and stuffing Luke in* And I thought they smelled bad... on the outside! / Laugh it up, fuzzball. / It's not my fault! (Star Wars VI: The Empire Strikes Back)

Hm... this might be fun. Course, what if we all have a "Don" we'd like to share with different actors fitting the bill?

I think I'll start with:

Bella ~ Catherine Zeta Jones (I'll admit... she is kinda' yummy and Bella, I assume, is supposed to be in that category, right?)
