4  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Stupid AL ?...why can't I see my neighbors furnishings?? on: November 07, 2008, 05:56:51 pm

No problem. I don't have it in my game, but maybe try using Pescado's novanishingdorms hack (you'd need Uni, though)? I'm pretty sure there was a hack out there that made the neighbours' apartments remain visible. I was just never interested in it so I didn't pay attention to who made it.

I don't have University yet so I guess thats part of why I didn't know it was normal...lol Once I do get Uni then I'll have to look about that hack.

Thanks again Shocked)

This is normal. Apartments work kind of like dorms (that came with the University EP) in that you cannot see into the neighbours' apartments unless your sims actually goes to visit.

Thanks Engram. After I posted this question and began playing a bit more I wondered if that was the case. I wonder why then Maxis has a picture of neighbors apartments on the front of the case. Marketing I guess.

Thanks again Engram Shocked)
6  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Thank you!!!!! on: November 06, 2008, 08:35:42 pm
I just had to comment on this thread and say thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you xtian913 and abaris!!!!!!! I was having the exact same problem with my lots not loading and by finding and following the advice that abaris gave you, I was able to fix mine. I didn't have to resort to the 50/50 method though. All I did is go through my DL folder and moved all my mods into another folder which I placed on my desktop. Then I just went through and deleted the mods I knew to be global (and thought may be causing the problem) as abaris has mentioned and viola!!! my lots now load with no problems whatsoever. Only took me about an hour or so. BTW, it turned out to be one mod...the Inteenimator! I just had to say thanks to both of you. xtian913 for posting your question on this site, and to abaris for his knowledge

Happy Simming :toothy10:
7  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Stupid AL ?...why can't I see my neighbors furnishings?? on: November 06, 2008, 08:25:32 pm
I just installed AL and after some issues getting it started (and getting my mods updated!) - thanks to xtian913 & abaris btw Shocked), I can finally enter a lot. I created a new sim and moved her into an existing Maxis Apartment building with the Patels right next door. When I'm playing my new sim's apartment, I can't see the furnishings in my neighbors apartment. Actually, I can't even see my neighbors in their apartment either!! I only see them when they walk out their front door! So then I thought I had to go in and furnish my neighbors apartment but when I got there, it's already furnished and now my new sims furnishing aren't visible next door! What gives? My "object hiding" is already turned off. Can someone please tell me how to fix this? Is there another setting that maybe I'm not aware of? Am I just that stupid?? LOL

ANy advice would be appreciated :dontknow:
8  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Have some building questions on: August 10, 2008, 11:10:31 am
Hey all. I just have a couple building questions. Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not...

First, how can I change the roof pitch on my houses. I hate how high they go automatically and the premade Maxim homes don't have roofs that high so I know there must be a way for me to change it.

Also, can anyone give me a good site for building tutorials? I know I saw one somewhere one time on how to make a basement, but now I can't remember where I saw it.

Thanks!:D

10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Little to no weather... on: July 19, 2008, 05:17:27 pm
Hello again. I have another question. I just installed Seasons about a week ago. I was so excited to play it I just created a quick Sim girl and moved her into one of the new Seasons lots in Veronaville. Long story short, when I first started playing, I had LOTS of weather. It rained, stormed and snowed. Now it never does anything. I downloaded Simwardrobe's Weathercontroller the other day and thinking that was the problem, I uninstalled it but I've still got NO weather at all (without me creating it of course). Does anyone know why there's no weather? Is it a glitch, or is it normal. And watching the weather channel does no good. He alwasy says there's a slight chance of rain and it never rains. I also downloaded the simmometer from Simwardrobe the other day but haven't uninstalled that one. All it is is a thermometer.

Anyway, any ideas would be greatly appreciated Smiley

I'm assuming you have Seasons, since you posted in the Seasons subforum.

You're trying to build over the butterfly/firefly placeholders.  Get the stuckobject remover from MATY and place those where the bugs are and it will clear up the terrain so you can build your house.

Yes, I mentioned I have Seasons installed. That worked, thank you for the suggestion!
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Very strange build issue on: July 19, 2008, 10:31:48 am
Hey there. I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and can possibly make some suggestions on how to fix it. I have NL, OFB, Pets & Seasons installed. Last night as I was renovating a house, I tried laying a new elevated foundation to expand my kitchen and living room areas. It worked in some areas but in other areas it kept saying it couldn't level the terrain. That in itself is bizarre because the terrain was already level. At another point it said something about there being floor tile there, but there was no floor tile. I tried everything from leveling the terrain myself, to using the delete tool in case there was something invisible there. Nothing worked so eventually I got so frustrated I thought I'll just work around the problem. Expand the areas in a different direction. In one direction it kept telling me there was something there and I couldn't place over another object (there was ntohing there!), so I started going in another direction and finally it allowed me to place my foundation, but it's not at all how I wanted it! So, all that being done, I built my new walls, laid new floor tile outside the new walls for the patio and when I went to install windows on my new wall, it wouldn't allow me to, saying at first that the ceiling was too low (I had no roof on the house at all), then telling me the location was out of bounds (the wall runs smack dab through the CENTER of my lot). I am at a complete loss. it's like there are invisible objects getting in my way. :bawl:

Any suggestions would be helpful! Or let me know if you need more info. I'm gonna try and post a screenshot of the problem area in case it may help.

Thanks!

I've added a few screenshots as attachments so you can see the area I'm talking about. See the wall with no windows behind the grill? That's the wall it's telling me is out of bounds. Also, if you look at the pic with the little 5-tile foundation, that is about the only place I can add foundation because the "build squares" just aren't anywhere else. The other pic showing the foundation in the pond...WTF?? It can level that terrain, but it can't level flat terrain?? I'm stuck Sad

13  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Who's going to get the The Sims 3? on: July 15, 2008, 04:58:42 pm
I'm sure I'll get it eventually, but it will be a while. There's still too much for me to try in TS2 and honestly the biggest "changes" or differences between 2 and 3 don't seem very significant to me (my own personal opinion). I think it's too soon for TS3. They should come out with more EP's for TS2 first. It would be nice if the next generation Sims would just be a direct upgrade to TS2, instead of having to start all over again.

15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / TS2 crashes while replacing wheel bearings!! on: August 10, 2007, 06:05:08 pm
OMG OMG OMG THAT WORKED!!! lol i had created a new folder under My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 called "Holding Bin". when i was trying to figure out which file was causing the problem, I had moved most of my newest dl's into that folder not realizing the game would read what was in that folder as well. when i took your advice and did the search it pulled up all these files i had moved into that folder! once i moved that folder to my desktop and tried running the game again...it replaced the wheel bearings with not even a hiccup and the game started right up!!! omg you have no idea how thankful i am to you. you saved my sims lives!! lol ok now i got one more question for ya :oD is there a damn file cop for ts2?? i cant find one anywhere. i thought that might help weed out the bad files.....holy crap it works!! thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
