16  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / New Mesh: ~Ellu~ on: February 11, 2006, 12:59:38 am
This is an amazing thing.  The third in my series of dedication meshes, this one was actually done WITH the help of the person it was dedicated to!!

Ellu, you are an amazing person, and a very talented recolorer, and I am so very glad that I decided to request recolors from you that day. Cheesy

Yes, so everyone of these textures and alphas was done by Ellu, and there are 20 of them!! Even though they are edited off my bas textures, these were done by Elina.

Basically, this is just a longer version of the Maxis 'long simple' hair mesh with somewhat slanted bangs.  And it comes for Young Adults/Adults/Elders.

Thank you Ellu! For being an amazing friend, and for sharing your amazing talent with me.

I hope you all like this!

17  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / New Mesh: ~JJ~ on: February 10, 2006, 12:18:58 am
Maybe I am copying kavar by doing this, but I have decided to make dedication meshes.  It is true I got the idea from what kavar did for the special people in his life, so I took it and did the same.  So far I have a series of three meshes (and potentially a fourth on the way..Smiley) that are dedicated to those people that have had a big impact on me.

The first one of the series is dedicated to my amazing friend and brilliant singer, JJ.  What started as a simple private message turned into a friendship and now I'm so glad that JJ decided to write to me, even if it was about the most random thing..lol.

The second mesh in this series is dedicated to Rebekah, from Sim Chic.  That mesh and textures will be on Sim Chic and availiable to subsribers only.  Here's a preview:
http://img149.imageshack.us/my.php?image=djhaircarolyngoldenblond0ra.jpg
http://img149.imageshack.us/my.php?image=djhaircarolynblack5fk.jpg

So, about the mesh.  It is for young adults/adults/elders and in my opinion is one of my best meshes so far.  This uses brand new custom textures and alphas that I made, which is a new thing for me. I gave it a new UV Map, something I learned how to do a couple days ago, in order to make editing the mesh a tiny bit easier.

This is pretty much just a update to my "Thankful" mesh, which was my first mesh.  This has a bunch of options that are changable by simply editing tha alpha.  I hope you enjoy it!
18  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Eyes / Eye Colors: Red Vampire on: January 28, 2006, 11:42:31 pm
This goes with my vampire skin.

These are the red eye made by Maxis that go on the vampires.
19  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Skintones / Skintone: Light Vampire on: January 28, 2006, 11:38:29 pm
I extracted the vampire skin from nigthlife and combined it with the light skintone, making what would be vampire skin on any person with the Maxis Lightest skintone in the game. I also extracted the eye color but you have to get it from my other post.

I couldn't believe Maxis left out vamprie toddlers, children and babies! So now you can have them..unfortunately, with no vampiric effects..lol

Anyway..I don't have pictures of everything, but it's for all ages/genders.

But I have it made for toddlers,

kids,

teens,

-Male-

-Female-

and youngadults/adults/elders:

-Male-

-Female-

I hope you like it!!
20  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / Recolors? PG Choppy Mesh on: January 27, 2006, 10:42:04 pm
Maxis called this mesh "PG Choppy" I don't exactly know waht that means, but I found some of the textures they left out, well, Jake actually found these textures in the Sims 2 game data.  I put these package files together.

There are 5 colors that Maxis left out..I think.  These are what I had.  They were called: Blond Streak, Red Streak, Violet, Green and Pink on Black.

The pictures are labeled this way.

Enjoy.  Maxis mesh, so no expansion packs required.
21  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / Recolors: Willow on: January 26, 2006, 10:29:21 pm
Today was a good day for me.  It was my recoloring day.  It was interesting.

I wanted to recolor my Willow mesh, and I realized I hadn't uploaded my it when I went to download it to put in my game so that I could recolor.  I delete everything in my downloads/savedsims/projects folders sometimes, to make it faster.  I usually never play anyway, and most everything I had before was my stuff..uploaded onto websites. lol.

So, I uploaded that mesh here, from MTS2, then downloaded it and put it into my game, as well as my chopsticks mesh. (on Sim Chic)  I made recolors of both of those today.. you'd be surprised.  I can no longer think down on recolorers.. lol it's really hard!! And they can do textures/alphas and everything! I appreciate you guys more now!! wow..

Anyway, here are 8 recolors of my Willow mesh: Black, Brown, Blond, Red, Reddish Brown, Dirty Blond, Platinum Blond and Strawberry Blond.

Hope you like it.  It's pretty sharp, so it should look good in the game.
22  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / New Mesh: Willow on: January 26, 2006, 08:51:52 pm
I honestly can't believe I missed this one!!! This is like my favorite that I've made.. Cheesy Even though I say that about practically every one of them.

Well, in reality this is the first mesh that I created, but somehow got..lost? while switching computers and going through having to restart because of the old computer crashing.  grr.. So this is a remake of my first mesh.

I got the idea for the bangs by accidentally leaving those certain vertices unassigned..somehow, and so then I just deleted them from the mesh.  I like it better that way, rather than having really long bangs with an unedited alpha over a face.

The mesh I had called 'Willow" before wasn't actually the same mesh.  It was edited off the..oh how to explain it?? hmm..I don't know but it doesn't really matter. Tongue  But I thought the mesh suited the character a lot better than that mesh would have anyway.

Enjoy!
23  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / New Object: Seatless Toilet on: January 23, 2006, 01:03:31 am
This is a request that I had from a loooong time ago.  I thought the desription was somewhat crappy at MTS2, so I'm writing a new one..lol.

But basically it is the Maxis toilet, without the bottom, and without a seat.  There's only one problem with this.  When Sims go to sit down on it should look like they are floating above the toilet on an invisible seat..*I think*

Anyway, enjoy!
24  Simmers' Paradise / Tutorials / Hair Meshing Tutorial on: January 22, 2006, 09:17:11 pm
I decided to put this here, because I didn't know where else, although I didn't look very hard. lol.  But here it is:

I wanted to make a hair meshing tutorial, so here it is..

I remember when I first started I couldn't really find a good hair meshing tutorial, and it took me a very long time to figure out how to do it. Now that I actually can, I thought I would help all of you guys out there who'd like to try. I like helping people.  I tried to make it as simple as I could, but sometimes things like this get complicated, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

EDIT by beosboxboy: In the latest versions of SimPE (0,60 and higher) there is a PJSE Body Mesh plug-in included in the install that allows you to extract all the necessary parts without resorting to the manual extraction of mesh components detailed in this tutorial.  If you prefer using an older version of SimPE then you may be able to get a version of the plug-in that is compatible with your favourite version number (SimPE 0,58 and above) here: http://www.simlogical.com/PJSE/PJSEindex.htm (Hosted by Simlogical)

Documentation on the PJSE Body Mesh plug-in is available here: http://www.simlogical.com/PJSE/BodyMeshTool/PJBMThelp/Contents.htm (Hosted by Simlogical)

Versions of SimPE older than 0,58 must still use the manual extraction method detailed in this tutorial; for that reason this tutorial has been left without changes out of consideration of those persons who prefer the older versions of SimPE.

Since the writing of this tutorial Wes_h has released the Unimesh plug-ins for MilkShape 3D that have replaced the older plug-ins mentioned in this tutorial, their operation is similar but greatly expanded and improved.  The link in this tutorial has been corrected to the new plug-ins.

Although this tutorial is not obsolete, many of the procedures have been greatly streamlined by the improvements in the tools.  A re-vision of this tutorial is needed to reflect those changes, so the user should be careful to read the documentation and threads dealing with plug-ins to see what changes have been made and adjust the steps in this tutorial accordingly.

How To Make a Hair Mesh

Programs Needed:
-SimPE http://sims.ambertation.de/
-Milkshape 3d http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/

You also need the wes_h Milkshape plugins. UniMesh plugins for MilkShape (1.78 and UP)

Make sure that the plugins are installed in the directory folder where Milkshape is installed on your computer.

1. Open Bodyshop. Decide which hair you would like to edit and export that as a project file.

2. Do any editing that you would like to do on the textures before reimporting it. Then import it into the game.

3. Close bodyshop.

4. Open your Sims 2 directory on your hard drive. This is not in the same place as where your neighborhood data is. This contains all the base information needed for any user to play the game. On my computer it is C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2

5. (see note by beosboxboy above) Go to EA GAMES --> The Sims 2 --> TSData --> Res --> Sims3D. Open Sims03. This contains all of the original game's GMDC files. These are the ones that you will be editing. I usually export a lot of them at a time, so I don't have to keep going back into that package file to find more hair meshes.
*If you had exported a hair from either Nightlife or University, then you will need to open those directories instead. The folder 3D for the expansions is the same as Sims3D for the original game.
(University: EA GAMES --> The Sims 2 University --> TSData --> Res --> 3D. and Nightlife: EA GAMES --> The Sims 2 Nightlife --> TSData --> Res --> 3D)

6. I don't really know how to tell you to find the right mesh for the hairstyle you chose, although I'm sure that there is a way. I scan through all of the names to see which one seems like it would be that particular mesh. It helps if you have one of the newest forms of SimPE because you won't have to use the name map to find the instance to find the right mesh. Make sure you export the right age group/gender for your mesh. A= Adult T = Teen C= Child P= Toddler E= Elder F= Female M= Male.

The age and gender will becombined to make the beginning of the name of the mesh. (Example: af = adult female)

There's not any hair meshes for elders, because the adult meshes fit their head, so by editing an adult mesh, then you are actualy making a mesh for adults and elders. (If you have University then the same mesh will fit the Young Adult as well )

Once you find the mesh(es) that you want, then left click on them and export them. I usually keep all of them that I export in organized folders. It is good to do so, because then you can go back and edit them again if you'd like. You can do whatever you'd like but it makes it easier to edit that mesh if you save them by their name. Example: afHairLongSimple, I would save as: aflongsimplegmdc. This way, if I choose to edit the mesh later, I will know which one it is.

7. Open Sims04 and export the GMND file that corresponds in name with the GMDC file you exported. After you do that, do the same for Sims05 (SHPE files) and Sims06 (CRES files) I usually name the files the same as the name that I called the gmdc file, but instead of gmdc at the end, it would be the right four letters for whatever file type it is.

8. Now you can edit your mesh. Use the wes_h plugins to import one of the gmdc files into Milkshape. I think it is pretty self-explanatory how to actually edit you mesh. Milkshape is fairly easy to use.
When you are done editing your mesh, MAKE SURE that all the vertices are assigned to a joint. It WILL NOT work if they are not all assigned. To do this, click on the tab label "Joints" on the left side of the screen. (or where ever you have the menu thing)

If you click on a joint then it will appear red. DO NOT move these. It will affect how your mesh looks and it usually doesn't come out very well. Assign any vertices surrounding the joint to it. This will affect the animation and how it moves when the Sims turns their head.

In most cases, you will have to select the bottom 5 or so vertices on the back of the neck and move them down a little bit. Otherwise there can be a gap there, which would be a problem.

Export your finished product.

8. Once you have all four files (GMDC, GMND, SHPE, and CRES) and your new mesh file, you are ready to make the new pacakge file containing your mesh.

Open SimPE. Make a new package. Add your four extracted files to the package. Click on the GMDC file. You will be replacing this file with yoru new mesh. First though, you will want to copy the name of it. Then, replace it. Fix the name so that it is EXACTLY how it was before you imported it.

9. Fix integrity. You can do this by going to (at the top): Tools --> Object Tools --> Fix Integrity.
This is when I give my new mesh a name. Under ModelName I always type in my name, followed by the age, and then the name of the mesh. For my adult Willow mesh, I put djafwillow. You can put in whatever you want I guess but make sure it has your name on it. I usually put it that way so that it is the same as the name of the actual mesh itself. Click Update, then Okay.

10. I save all my meshes in one format. To do it the way I do you would save your mesh as MESH_YourNameAgeNameDate.
And example of this is my Willow mesh for adults. I saved it as MESH_djafWillow122405.

You don't have to include the age, but I always do because most of my meshes are for more than one age group.

Save this in your "Downloads" folder.

11. While still in your mesh package file, export your new CRES and SHPE files. I usually save them as, AgeNameFileType. (Example: afWillowshpe or afWillowcres) It does not matter what you name these as long as you know what they are. I keep them all in one folder, so that if I choose to apply the mesh to a different hair .package, then I won't have to go back into the mesh .package to get them.

12. The fun part : Applying your mesh to the bodyshop package.

Open the package you made in bodyshop. It will be in the SavedSims Folder. Add the CRES and SHPE files you extracted from your new mesh to this package.

In the Resource Tree, click on 3D ID Referencing File.
If you don't have expansions, then there will be 6 Files. If you do have expansions, then there will be 7. These are usually in order of age group going down. The first one would be toddler, second child, third teenager, fourth adult, and fifth elder. With expansion packs the order is the same except that Young Adult comes in between Teens and Adults. I'm not sure what the last one is, but you don't edit it, so leave it alone.

Click on the age group that corresponds with the mesh that you made. As I said before, the adult mesh will work for Young Adults, Adults AND Elders, so you will have to edit those too.

Sometimes the 3d ID files are out of order, so check to make sure that the adult and elder (and Young adult) age groups have the same resource node and shape numbers before going in and editing it.

Click "Package" A PackageSlectorForm will appear. Find the resource node and shape that you added and drag them to the 3D Id editor. Delete the resource node and shpe that are already in it and are at the top. Move your CRES and SHPE to the top in replace of those. The resource node must always be at the top.

Go back and delete the files you added to the package. SAVE!

Close.

14. You're Done!! Good Job! I hope you like your new mesh! Open Bodyshop or the game and check for errors or things you want to change. Good Job!

I hope this helps! Good Luck Everyone!!
25  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / New Mesh: Weird Hair on: January 22, 2006, 03:18:29 am
Weird Hair..for lack of a better name, because it was a stupid request anyway.

Grr! This mesh was just..not meant to be.  I've tried uploading it three times with failure (my internet is stupid), and just got it working.

I swear I've defied some force of..fate or whatever because no matter what I did it never worked and even this one is..flawed.  Bleh..theres an *issue* with this mesh I just can't work out.  If anyone can help it'd be great, maybe it can be fixed.

It was originally a request I did not want to take..ugh, I'm too nice.  I just..ahh I hate somethings some times..

Anyway.  I hope you like it, because I don't, lol.  It turned out..okay I guess.

Have Fun!

26  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / New Mesh: Vampire Fargo Hat on: January 22, 2006, 02:06:45 am
I made this mesh for Sim Chic- but it never got uploaded there. Tongue  So, I'm uploading here.  This was a kind of test project for me.  My Goal:  to try and make a working hat mesh that would be able to switch to the right hair.

Well, after a lot of trial and error, I finally got this mesh working, and made 20 recolors, lol.

Really, there are the four Maxis colors, black, brown, blond and red, with five hat colors, blue, pink, brown, black and green.

It works only for adult, although the teens have a hat too, the original fargo hat mesh.

So, I made it to work, and it switches to Vetty's (from MTS2) mesh and textures when the hat is taken off.  I think it looks better like that.  I hate the chains.  Thanks Vetty, for that.

Hope you like it!

If you don't want certain colors, the names are pretty easy to understand in the file, so it is easy to figure out what is what.

Have Fun!

27  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / New Object: Mr. Saturn on: January 21, 2006, 02:11:45 pm
Not too long ago, my request for a character from thunderbreak turned into a project, which led me to my object meshing. We were trying to make a character set of the characters from the game, "Earthbound" My job was to make the meshes. Since this was my first time trying to make meshes, although I had fooled around with it before, with no actual success, it didn't really work. I turned to another person for help with the meshes. She agreed, yet now, a month or so later, after asking a few times, thunder and I still have had no answer about them. My second job for this project was to make an actual object mesh, something I thought I might be able to do, and fortunately for me I could. Lol. I made Mr. Saturn, and although he doesn't move, he's still a good decoration. I didn't know whether or not to release it, but since it'd been so long I decided to anyway. I know the picture from the game shows that his bow is black or something, it's not. It's actually red. The other picture is what it actually looks like.

I made this mesh all by myself, not editing the actual mesh file itself, but using a differnt object. lol, and did the UV Mapping and textures myself too. Cheesy

Hope you like it!

28  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / New Mesh: Teen Vampire on: January 21, 2006, 01:56:30 pm
I'm just bringing this over from MTS2..here's what it says:

I always wondered why Nightlife had four hair meshes for adults, but only two that had teen versions. Why didn't they just have a teen version of all of them? Well, I decided to make one of the other two able to work for teens. I edited the "vampire" hair and the adult hair as well so that they would both show up, but also that the adult hair would not change to a different hairstyle when sleeping/swimming/etc.

This comes with three colors: Black, Blonde and Red. Sorry, no Brown for now. I may post it later with this, but I am rather busy right now and the brown hair I did, didn't show up right, so, I didn't upload it.

To Work Without Nightlife: MUST have the black color installed. If I am correct then the adult version as well as the teen version should be able to show up now in a game without the Nightlife Expansion Pack.

As with everything else, do whatever you'd like with this as long as I have credit.

Have Fun!

Update 12/04/05: I added 5 new recolors: The brown color I had left off before, (The Maxis original brown color) and because some of you requested it, four new colors without the crown. These textures are not mine! With her permission, I have added Kindori's textures on my mesh. (the ones from here:

http://www5.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=92112) These are some of my favorite hair colors and I was really excited when she said I could use them. Thanks Kindori!
29  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Male Hair / Recolors: Male Patty on: January 21, 2006, 01:25:08 pm
This is something I usually don't do.. recolors.  Tongue  Not usually my thing.  I think I probably said I wasn't going to too..can't remember lol.

I did seven colors.  My usual six plus one more.  I made the Maxis four colors, red, brown, blond, and black.  Then I made three more, mixed colors, strawberry blond, dirty blond, and reddish-brown.  I think they look pretty good, and for having a low quality video card they look pretty sharp. (lol I had to get Ellu to send me an alpha file so I wouldn't have to resize it, like my others lol.)

You need my mesh from here:
http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=3938

Hope you like them!

30  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / New Object: Decorative Wedding Ring on: January 20, 2006, 04:44:32 pm
I know this is nothing useful..just a tiny little decorative object..you can hardly see its picture in the game in buy mode. It's jsut the wedding ring from the game as a decorative object. I rotated it a little so it actually is a new mesh..and I wasn't going to upload this..but after 3 out of my otehr 5 posts failed, and then one of the two things that weren't deleted by someone else, didn't work, so I deleted that. The picture is just a picture from one of my stories..that I haven't posted up on thesims2.com
I used moveobjects to put it in her hand so you can see that if you do that, then it doesn't go on the finger..it just rests in their hand..almost..it floats out a little bit in the air because its so small, but it just sits on the floor or on a surface. yeah..I may upload more pictures later..im not sure im feeling lazy so i might not. Hope you like it!!

Yeah..anyway, I just copied all this from my post at MTS2..I don't actually make stories anymore, lol.

Have Fun!
