46  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misc. Mods and Careers / Lot Full of Sims on: September 22, 2008, 04:10:19 am
I've just tested this mod in a household of 7 people: husband, wife, one son, three teenage daughters, and a toddler. The mother and two of her teenage daughters became pregnant and each gave birth to one baby.

za1susi, the mod is compatible with the Inteenimater. I used the biological clock to speed up the pregnancies after the third teenage daughter had a miscarriage.

ancienthighway, thank you for this mod. It comes in very handy because I'm also using twojeffs Triplets & Quads mod.

What expansions packs will this mod work with? I currently have all games up to Seasons installed.
48  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Servos Problem on: September 17, 2008, 01:23:54 am
I have exactly the same problem. I have all games up to Seasons installed. My servos skills are all at the maximum level.

Whenever the time comes to serve meal it will cook either Santa Cookies or a cake, never a normal meal like spaghetti or turkey. This happens in the two households where I have a Servo as part of the family.

Thank you for creating this much needed addition to the game.

I have used this mod with all Eps up to Free Time installed. It worked brilliantly.

I recently removed Free Time and Bon Voyage from my computer and reinstalled all Eps up to Seasons. This was the first Mod I put back into my game. I tried it out on the Beau Broke. It didn't work the first time. I needed save the lot, exit and restart Seasons. Now it works like a charm.

Once again, thank you for creating this much needed addition to the game!
50  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / That's it! I'm saying Bon Voyage to BV . . . on: May 24, 2008, 11:02:05 pm
velvettears82, you are one of the lucky ones. I have also said Bon Voyage to BV and have given Free Time the boot. I have had nothing but trouble since I installed them on my Vista machine.

I have a generic computer with an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, running Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit edition). The computer has 4GB RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT video card with the latest vista certified drivers installed.

I've lost count of the number of times my computer would go through the motions of starting up and then hang, just before the green Microsoft bars would scroll across the screen. After uninstalling Bon Voyage and Free Time, the computer starts up first time, every time.

I spent the half the weekend doing a complete manual uninstallation and reinstallation of The Sims 2 and all expansion packs, plus the Family Fun Stuff and Glamor Life Stuff Pack with the H&M Fashion Pack and all available patches thrown in for good measure. (Call me a glutton for punishment.) I played the game for about an hour, trying out a complete neighborhood I'd downloaded. I played one of the families, saved and exited to the neighborhood screen. I then attempted to exit the game. Lo and behold, "The Sims 2 Free Time" dialog box popped up with "this application has crashed. This application will now terminate." Also a little wanning from the Windows Security Center popped up advising me that my anti-virus was turned off. I did not touch any of the settings of the anti-virus.

A number of times I was also a victim of the NVIDIA "Blue Screen of Doom" when I had all eps except H&M Fashion Stuff installed.

Once again The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff, Bon Voyage and Free Time have become paper weights and I will NOT be buying any future eps from EA again.

Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Sims 2 and all EPs up to Seasons are stable and don't have any memory leaks. (I considered skipping Pests during the re-installation, but most lots and houses I downloaded were built with Pests installed.)

Does anyone know if this new version of SecuRom will also be in the Apartment Life (the next Sims 2 expansion pack)?
52  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / Harlech Castle on: March 25, 2008, 01:27:01 am
Harlech Castle is an example of a concentric castle. The castle was built (between 1283 and 1290) for Edward I by his master mason James of St George.

Its nucleus is a quadrangular inner ward surrounded by a high curtain wall with strong round towers at the corners and a powerful gatehouse in the middle of the east side.

The floor-plan of the castle is based on the Shawn J. Brown's series of plans for Harlech Castle at http://shawnbrown.com/maps/, and features a Great Hall, Kitchen, Bakehouse, Chapel and Granary.

The lot comes fully furnished and I have also included an unfurnished lot if you prefer to do your own decorating. Once again I have tried to keep close to the period and you will find no electronic devices such as telephone, fridge, TV, etc.

Statistics:
Required Episodes: I have included two furnished versions:
1) Harlech - Furnished - Seasons which requres the Sims 2 Holiday Edition, University, Nightlife, Open For Business, Pets, Seasons
2) Harlech - Furnished - AL which requires all expansion packs from the Sims 2 to Apartment Life. (ceilings that are more appropriate to the era have been used)
3) The unfurnished version was built with all expansion packs from the Sims 2 Holiday Edition to Free Time installed.

53  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / 12-th Century Square Keep Castle on: February 29, 2008, 12:30:20 am
Over the past month I have become obsessed with reading about and building castles.

The square keep castle was the immediate successor of the motte-and-bailey castle. These castles were built of stone and became common in the 12-th century. Examples of this type of castle include Hedingham Castle and Rochester Castle.

The keep was commonly three or four stories high. The castle was accessed via the first floor for security reasons. This floor contains the Chapel, Great Hall and the Solar. The Solar is it lord's private room and frequently his bed-chamber.

The ground floor contains the castle kitchen, Hall for the knights and garrison quarters, a store-room and the dungeons.

The top floor contains suites for the lord's family and other important guests staying at the castle. Above this is the roof and battlements.

The keep is surrounded by a curtain wall. In the corner tower at the rear of the castle, latrines jut out over the moat.

The lot is fully furnished, and once again I have tried to keep this lot as close to the period as possible. I have made slight modifications to take into account the Sim's need for privacy while bathing. Therefore, you will find no electronic devices such as fridge, computer, TV, phone or fire/burglar alarm in this lot.

A copy of the lot has been play-tested for two seasons to ensure that all parts of the castle were accessible, and that the fruit from the trees was able to be harvested. The moat is fishable and at times the Sims have wanted to fish from within the latrines or the courtyard.

54  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Residential / An 11-th Century Motte-and-Bailey Castle on: February 28, 2008, 09:57:19 am
This is an imaginative reconstruction of a motte-and-bailey castle. These castles were first seen in Normandy and England in the 11-th century. The castle consists of a wooden tower on an earth mound connected to a bailey or courtyard.

The courtyard known as the bailey contains the stables, great hall, kitchens, chapel and two peasant huts.

A wooden tower stands on the motte or mound which has been made by piling up earth excavated from the ditch. The tower, which can only be entered at first-floor level by a ladder, contains the lord's living-room, with sleeping chambers above and a cellar below.

I have tried to keep the lot as close to the period as possible, so therefore you will find no electronic devices such as TV, computer, fridge, fire alarm etc on this lot. To maintain the historical accuracy you might like to download the Fade Industries "Seasoned" Pantry from http://djssims.com/, "which is a specially modified fridge that will only allow you to store home grown fruits and veggies, or fish caught from the pond. Additionally, it does not come with any food like every other Maxis fridge."

55  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / Paintings by Pieter Bruegel the elder on: February 08, 2008, 09:27:31 pm
These are four paintings by Pieter Bruegel the elder. They all use justmoi's "Majestic" Glamour mesh. You need the New Mesh "Majestic Glamour" Painting to have these paintings appear in your game.

They require the Base Game and at least one other Expansion Pack for the paintings to appear in your game.

57  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / There's something weird and it don't look good on: January 25, 2008, 03:36:50 am
Thanks for the links. They've helped me to weed out the mods that are no longer compatible with BV and the problems with the crazy animations have gone.

But in my attempts to reproduce the problems I've come across another two problems with the ghosts and tombstones:

1) At one point the ghost of Danielle kept going into and out of the lamp on the table. The next time I loaded the lot the lamp had somehow merged with the table, and the tabletop appeared to be empty. When I went into Buy Mode and attempted to delete the table the "You cannot delete this object with something in it or on it" message popped up.

2) I shifted all the urnstones from the kitchen into the backyard of the Pleasant house. Only the ghost of Martin Pleasant was haunting the lot and somehow the tombstone of Danielle Pleasant had vanished.

Sorry about the long list. I don't know which ones are not compatible with BV.

It's also the second time I've been having the problem with the Sims changing in the one spot and then levitating to the bed.  The first time Angela, Daniel, Mary-Sue Pleasant and the maid were burnt by a fire stated by a TV dinner left too long in the oven. Lilith had come back from running away and she smashed the urnstones. She had one of those "It's too messy, clean this place up!" moments and swept up the ashes and the urnstones and put them into the trashcan. (I saved the lot and exited at this point. When I restarted the lot the urnstones were once again intact, so I moved them to the garden. I think I also had the above mods installed at the time.)

Yes. I've just run it and the only conflicts its detected are with the InTeenimator and the two InTeenimator flavour packs - No Age of Consent and Silent Pregnancy.

I've also installed the ACR and a few of Squinge's mods such as Throw Bottle Away, Move Away from Fridge.
60  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / There's something weird and it don't look good on: January 19, 2008, 07:04:05 am
Help! One of my lots is possessed! It's creepy and it's kooky and it's driving me nuts.

Martin Pleasant, his wife Danielle Pleasant and the maid were killed in a fire which started while Martin attempted to fix the stereo. Their two teenage sons, Seth and Angelo, survived. Seth immediately smashed the urnstones. The lot was saved and exited.

The next time I opened and played the Pleasant house strange and freaky things began happening:
1) My sims don't walk to the fridge or walk to the kitchen to make the food. Instead they stay in one spot and make the food by remote control;
2) My sims don't walk up and down the staircase - they walk in midair;
3) any visitors to the lot jump to the front door or front yard when leaving;
4) when I told Angelo to sleep in his underwear he changed and went rigid in the living room in front of the TV and floated or jumped to the bed.

The attached thumbnails are actual screenshots of the problems that I've had.

Has any one had this problem and if so can it be fixed? Or do I have to uninstall and re-install the game again?

I have the Sims 2 Holiday edition, Uni, Nightlife, Open For Business, Pets, Seasons and Bon Voyage. I also have the Family Fun Stuff and Glamour Life Stuff Pack installed.
