16  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Eye bags of dooom! on: July 16, 2009, 04:03:37 am
It's happened to me too, but with default sims (the Roth children that come with either Seasons or Bon Voyage). For the life of me, I can't find makeup for the eldest girl, now in college, it always seems like her eyes are too high, or her cheeks too low, leaving a large gap and making eyeliner and eyeshadow look like they were applied to her under eye. It looks weird but I thought it was just a problem with this family. Only after I saw that other thread, I could see that more people are having the same problem.
I've been trying to stay away from using too much 'plastic surgery', resorting to it only in the most extreme cases. But I might need to start from scratch with her and use a template face to fix it.
The next kid, Xander is about to enter college and his face is not so bad, but they've got a fresh set of twin girls who might also be candidates for the sim blender (my knife of choice).
I'll be looking out for any solutions posted for this thread or the other one, from the more experienced simmers around.  Wave 2

17  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: How do I get my date to match my attire? on: July 16, 2009, 03:13:42 am
Also, you might consider changing the classification for the specific outfit(s) to formal as well as casual, or even find a suitable casual outfit that looks the part. Then you can make the date wear it beforehand, making them selectable for a bit, just like rwillis suggests. They'll arrive in the outfit you chose for them. Anyway, that might be another way around it. I usually choose casual clothes that might serve as formal (cheaper too).

18  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / A question, really... on: July 15, 2009, 05:23:47 pm
I'm wondering if it is something inherent to the AL expansion, or to apartment lots specifically...
Ok, I have a romance sim move into an apartment lot (a trailer park lot that comes with AL) and let him loose among the female tenants there. But they all seem fine sharing him, even when he kisses and flirts with each one in turn (with the others standing there and watching) It's freaky since I haven't turned off jealousy for the lot. To tell the truth it was to be an experiment on how many angry women he could handle. But no one is angry! Well, except for a teenager that happened to walk by, he romanced and woohooed with her, and then she caught him with another girl and let him have it. Still then, none of his other conquests were phased at all.
It's so weird! Is this normal?

20  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: Ghosts on: July 14, 2009, 01:14:00 pm
I can't say that I've seen ghosts, but my mom grew up in a house that was legendary for all the 'strange sightings'. I live in the capital of Honduras, and this house was probably built around the 1800s. My grandfather inherited it from his aunt, who inherited from her grandmother, so yeah, the house was old (it was torn down like 20 years ago to make room for a parking lot, a pity I know).

If ever my mom has a nightmare, it take place in that house. The bathroom was especially creepy, which had a really old bathtub (we kept it, by the way but not in our house), where a man no one knew, took frequent baths. Another man usually slept in a sofa in an hall leading to the bedrooms. The house was shaped like an L, the short side being the front of the house, the longer side, the bedrooms and bathrooms, not sure how many (it was a big house) that faced a patio. So no one walked that hall in the dark.

Mom was especially susceptible to the effects of the house. When she was little, she'd been sick, and after she recovered, told my grandmother that a lady had visited her, of course my grandma was scared to death. Another time, mom and her siblings were all doing homework in the dining room, when the door leading to the rest of the house, slowly opened. My oldest uncle, stood up and closed it and sat back down. Then it happened again. He got up again to close it, but couldn't. So the 4 of them got behind the door and pushed, and finally got it to close. No one was behind the door.
Years later, my mom and her sister arrived home from watching a movie. My aunt stayed in the living room telling the rest of the family about the movie, and my mom took their coats and walked to their room to hang them up. Halfway there, she heard footsteps following her and figured it was her sister trying to scare her. So she thought she would scare her in return, left the coats over the bed and waited for my aunt to spring on her and yell or something. When nothing happened, she walked back to the hall and opened the door all at once to surprise her. Just then, she heard my aunt laughing back in the living room, still talking about the movie. My mom was so scared she almost ran back, but remembered hearing that you shouldn't turn your back on ghosts, so she slowly turned around and walked backwards towards the front of the house, but still she couldn't see anything but the dark hall. But, she couldn't see that their dog, Rex, was lying down behind her and stepped on him. The dog howled, she screamed and and everybody came running. She still gets teased about that one.
After a while my granddad built a new house in another neighborhood and left the house mostly empty, only a great aunt staying there and managing a small mini market. Once a friend of hers came by and asked to use the bathroom, and when she got back, she told this story: she was sitting on the toilet when the door opened and MY MOM walked in, in period clothing, and asked her what she was doing there, and told her very sternly to go back home and take care of her children, and then left. She was stunned when she told my great aunt, all the time saying that Nena (my mom) was never like that before. Then she freaked out when she found out my mom no longer lived there, but in another part of town. She even asked my great aunt to phone my mom and talk to her so she was sure my mom had not been there.

Local folklore has it that a house this haunted, must have been either built on top of a battlefield (lots of dead people) or something was buried under it, and the ghosts are guarding it. When the house was torn down, the only thing found was a cauldron type of pot filled with ashes. (Again, it is said that this cauldron should have been filled with money (gold/silver coins) but if the owner is not around to claim it, it turns to ash, so who knows...)
We're a great bunch when it comes to telling scary stories by the fire...  Grin
21  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: I'm I the only one who would rather just keep playing sims 2. on: July 03, 2009, 05:21:57 pm
I was a late starter with The Sims, so I got it all in one package (the complete collection or some such) so it was very easy for me to fall in love with the game and see all at once, everything it had to offer. Then of course I discovered cc!!! By that time TS2 was already out and on its 3rd or 4th exp. I waited as long as I could to switch and believe me I never looked back. My Downloads folder is slowly but surely taking over my remaining hard drive space. At this point, I'm not going to switch to TS3 and try my luck with it. I think I can wait until it shows some promise and modders are well on their way to change it to something I would want to spend my time on.
Until then I'll monitor its progress and enjoy playing TS2 Cheesy

Honduras, and up to our necks in s..t! I know how it might look from the outside, but if you'd lived through the last two years, you'd know this was the right thing to do. As a normal citizen though I didn't have a say as to how it should have been done.
Sorry for the political comment there, I'll get off my box now...

24  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: How to increase nightmares? on: June 10, 2009, 11:54:02 am
I have Inteenimater in my game, and I had a female sim have constant nightmares after I terminated her pregnancy through miscarriage (she was family aspiration).

I didn't know how long it would take her to get over it, otherwise I would have gone with just terminate instead. She moped for days and days, her needs meter was always in the red. Now if I need to end a pregnancy I just go with terminate. It's like it never happened.

25  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: What have you done with your default sims? on: June 08, 2009, 05:33:07 pm
Right now, it's Veronaville's turn, again.

The Capp kids living with Consort all went to college, so I resurrected Contessa. She and Consort had been having a great time until I introduced the Fugly character (and genetic test I downloaded, from here I think) Horrida Fugly; and Consort just couldn't take his hands off her. He asked her to move in, with Contessa there of course. I had so much trouble keeping them from beating each other up. Finally I introduced a servo, Justin, to be Contessa's honey (she's a romance sim). So Horrida had 2 children with Consort (viejo verde) and is currently pregnant, but Consort just died last night, and she's stranded at the old house with Contessa as her roomie. I have to hand it to Contessa though, she loves the little tikes, Twiggy and Zatara (girl and boy). On the genetic test though, Twiggy has just aged to a child but the features are all Horrida, poor girl. Zatara is a toddler but somehow his face is not so bad as his older sister. I'll see how the third one comes out, but with the Capp features, things could get really interesting...

They look great! I noticed Sookie's eyes are the 'right' color, love that!

27  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Jilted at the altar? on: June 05, 2009, 03:41:05 pm
It happened to a sim once, not my doing either. I think it was before NL, he was family aspiration made in CAS, she a romance townie. He asked her to move in, then were engaged, no problem there. Then I made this whole production for the wedding, music, food, cake, the works. She bolted at the altar. Can't remember about ex's at the party though.

The problem was she had to come back home, cause that's where she lived... There was hell to pay, nobody wanted to talk to her (other sims in the lot were the teenage son and the father of her fiance, so you can imagine...) I don't think I've ever had it happen again.

28  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Perpetual Fire? on: June 04, 2009, 11:53:34 am
I've had 'somewhat' perpetual other things, like the tap running when they stopped washing hands, or endless bubbles after washing dishes. I even deleted the sinks and replaced them just to have the water sound go on in the background or the bubbles pop up again. I even had the water effect around the neck from being inside the pool, follow them for a while after they get out. Mmm... I remember one particular sim that loved to clean having bubbles come out of her hands everywhere she went. They go away after a while or if I exit and reenter the lot. Ohh, also, the zzzz after they sleep. Not fire though, not yet.

29  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Weird comm lot crashing... when sims talk to each other! on: June 03, 2009, 05:31:14 pm
Ok, I'll double check (I even want to pull some hacks/mods out for a while) to see if they're correct. Looking for social conflicts might be a bit out of my comfort zone so if the former don't get results I'll come back for instructions for the latter.
Thank you fot that ancienthighway!
Mari cool

I can report I changed the summoner cat mod, cause it was for up to FT, and changed it for AL, and now No Crashing when talking to simmies on comm lots! Yeah! (Still looking out for other weird stuff though, just in case...)
But thank you!

30  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Weird comm lot crashing... when sims talk to each other! on: June 03, 2009, 01:04:47 pm
Ok, my sims can go to community lots and can purchase stuff, but the moment they try to talk to someone else, the whole thing goes poof! I have no idea what could be causing this. I tried waiting for some other sim to talk to them but sometimes it works and the game goes on as it should, and sometimes it doesn't. It's worse when my controllable sim initiates contact. The flirt interaction (check sim out or whistle) or even scope room, don't seem to trigger it though. Weird and annoying as .....!
I have all expansions except Pets and AL (do have M&G) and have used Inteen for a long while without any problems, I have added the sim blender and summoner cat, but that was a while ago too. I did add computer fixes (to get rid of the computer hogging thing). I'll have to go check anything else that might be causing this, though the main ones I've mentioned already...
If you have any ideas you are sure welcome!
TIA
