16  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Properly uploading outifts for others to download on: June 24, 2011, 06:38:24 pm
I have no idea what that is so I'm not going to download it. If it's a picture, please make it appear on the site or make it clear that it is an image file by including the filename. I'm not in the habit of grabbing mystery files.

What I meant is that you go to the SavedSims folder and not to the Projects folder. I can't tell where a file came from just by looking at it, if that is what you linked. It's up to you to go to the correct folder and upload the correct file. You can also safely rename it so that it's not called abcd1234_recolour1 but something that will make sense to the person who downloads it.

The file you need to upload will be in SavedSims. The Projects folder is used by Bodyshop to create the final package you need to upload. The file in there is not the final product.

So: you make the retexture, you import it back into Bodyshop, then you go to SavedSims and hopefully rename it to something clear (like labelling it with what it is and your name so people can readily identify it). You then upload this package or you can zip or rar it and upload that. If hte creator of the mesh allows the uploading of their meshes, you can include that in the zip or rar (you need to find it yourself, it does not magically get attached to the retexture). If they don't allow reuploading of their meshes, you need to provide a link in your post to where people can download the mesh. If it's a pay mesh, the rules on this site say that you need to include a booty link when linking to a pay mesh.
18  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Any advice? My game crashes while making new sims on: June 19, 2011, 08:27:46 pm
Also, if you're keeping the recolours you're making in SavedSims, Bodyshop has trouble when there are too many files in that folder.

Do as TheRaven suggests - remove all CC from Downloads and SavedSims. If Bodyshop runs fine after deleting the cache files, try putting the content you made into a fresh Downloads folder and test Bodyshop. If it crashes, you know that it's something you made that corrupted. You can then use 50/50 or add them in one by one depending on how many there are. Since there would be no other content Bodyshop should load fairly quickly and you can then quickly test which one it is that corrupted and is causing the crashing.

If GOS won't let you in there is not much I can do. And FMW is just that: FMW. I have no idea what it stands for. It might be some sort of BJD (ball jointed doll), maybe?

Check out Ephemera's profile on MTS and have a look at the "human" part of the FMW set and his other skintones there. It doesn't include the FMW vampire skintone unfortunately.

Middle hair is Rose Donation 74-2.
Booty link.

No idea about the last one. Looks really old. Do you have a side view of that one? What site is that picture from?

The this bangs look more like Peggy's, though the colour looks straight out of Sims 2 Heaven, so it's kind of confusing. Though I have seen those bangs on other XM Sims hair, the bangs on the linked hair are too thin to be those ones. Plus it's missing the long ribbon and the curls on the long hair falling to the front of the shoulders are different.

ETA: Hair 1 here: http://www.zifengling.com/view.php?tid-527-cid-4.html

Mesh is indeed that one from XM Sims Smiley

It worked in my test game during beta testing with all EPs and SPs installed. What problems are you encountering with it?
23  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Question about resetting neighborhoods/exporting Sims on: June 10, 2011, 07:30:25 am
Ummm... You seem to be doing OK on the extracted sims front but you're struggling on the hood front. And you're calling both folders and files "file" so I'm not sure if you're on the right track or not.

1. Before you do anything, make sure you have all the noregen hacks safely installed. And you have made a backup. I know it's borked but better to have it and be able to salvage stuff from it than to cry over spilt milk.

2. Delete N002 from My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods. Make sure you have backed up everything you wanted to back up first. Go to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods and copy N002. Paste it into My Documents (as above). Then delete the Characters folder and N002_Neighborhood.package, then unzip the downloaded folder and file into the same location. Congratulations, you now have a cleaned up Strangetown. You actually don't need to batbox or SimPE anything at this stage. Your sims are clones and will be manually remade in CAS and moved in clean as the driven snow. You can batbox their memories of the mystery sim or whatever else you want to remove but you don't actually need to debug anything at this point. you have a clean hood and you have clean sims. Don't try to fix what ain't broke.

3. Definitely keep the extracted sims out of SavedSims. Keeping them there eventually stops Bodyshop from working. Once you have clones you can move them into Downloads. Just make a Strangetown Sims folder and throw them in there. It is best to keep content OUT of SaveSims.

4. Pro-tip: If you rename the sim files, you can actually see their names in CAS so you don't have to struggle to remember who is who. It's probably too late now but in the future, if you write down the name of each sim as you clone them and pop out into Saved Sims, record the nonsense filename (ie. the newest file that was created, so you need to do this each time you make a clone just to keep things in order) next to their real name. Once you exit Bodyshop you can safely rename the nonsense filenames. Then, when you enter a hood, input the cheat for debug mode (boolprop testingcheatsenabled true) and then enter CAS. And then you press Shift+N on your keyboard. Hey presto you get a pop-up that tells you that CAS is now in debug mode. When selecting custom sims you can now hover over their thumbnail and it will tell you the filename - if you renamed the files or wrote down the nonsense filenames next to real names you can now easily identify who is who. Especially useful for families with several kids as they can look almost the same and be hard to tell apart. Particularly if some time has passed and you don't have a fresh memory of everyone like you do now.

I googled it (sims reastaurant food home) and found this: http://www.sims2workshop.com/viewtopic.php?t=1680. I'm not a member so I have no idea if it's still available or not as I cannot see a download link. Though I do not blame you for not finding it because it seems to only be able to be located via Google as it doesn't appear in Carrigon's section. Weird. All her files have been moved here: http://carrigon.freeforums.org/ so try searching through there, see if you can maybe locate the other one. I've never heard of it so unfortunately I can't help you with that one. Google just brings up a whole lot of sims fishing guides and discussions on whether vegeterians should eat fish or not :/
25  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF These meshes by themselves to make clothing with on: June 03, 2011, 12:47:00 am
As I said before, the mesh is included in the download for the middle outfit so you do not need to contact the creator to find the mesh. It is included and if you download the outfit, you get the mesh.

Where are the first and last outfits located?

When you installed Clean Installer what should have happened was that the thumbnail for the Sims2Pack should have changed to look like this:

instead of the blue-man-in-a-box icon of the Maxis installer.

The words on the image would not be there (unless you're looking at the actual program exe, which is what that picture is) but the name of the Sims2Pack would be. You then double click the Sims2Pack and a pop-up that looks like this:

should come up. You would then click the Install button. You can select to install everything or you can untick those parts that you don't want (eg. stuff you already have in your game that you do not want duplicates of).

CI can either install stuff for you, as in the example above) or scan your Downloads folder or another location for .package files. Since you have not yet installed the house it would of course not show up when CI scanned your Downloads folder. Houses don't show up on a scan, anyway. Only sims, meshes, recolours, Bodyshop items, etc, show up.

Amythestfenix did a bunch of those.

If you put "auto drapes recolor" into Google you will get a boat load of hits as well. I just like the ones by Amythestfenix because she makes good quality stuff.
28  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF These meshes to make clothing with on: June 02, 2011, 07:57:45 pm
If you have the middle outfit, it actually comes with the mesh. Looks like it's the same mesh as for the first outfit, though I'm not sure where that recolour is from. The bittymitten one comes with the mesh, though.

From the picture, it looks like the third outfit uses the same jeans + sneakers but has an edited top. At a guess, it's also a MYOS/SAU mesh.

Why not ask about the mesh at the site where you got the pictures. If they're offering those clothes for download they really need to tell you where to get the mesh and not just throw up retexture files and leave people to flounder around, trying to guess what mesh they need to make the download work.

Looks like she uses a lot of skintones and makeup by Ephemera and Janita. It's a bit hard to tell which exact skintone that is in the pose box previews but I noticed that she was using the FMW set a lot in pictures of her sims. Though on the one sim I was actually able to download she used a skintone by a creator whose name was a bunch of Asian characters, which I unfortunately cannot read. The FMW skintones are probably your best shot at finding something similar on Western sites. The skintone she uses in the pictures with the vampire sims is DEFINITELY the vampire skintone from the FMW set (check GOS, they have it uploaded there since E-Studio no longer exists).
30  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Help with Packaged Lots with Sims. on: June 01, 2011, 12:37:46 am
Depending on your operating system, you may already have a newer version of the .Net framework installed. Try running Clean Installer without downloading .Net framework and see if it works (it might, if you have Windows 7 for example). Newset version of .Net framework.

As others have already said, installing sims packaged with houses that have been played before and who have formed relationships with other sims in the original game hood they came from is a really bad idea. I would recommend against this. OR you can plop them into a throw-away hood, get them to move out, put the house in the lots bin, extract the sims and place cloned copied into the now-empty house in a hood you want to play for a good long time.
