1  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Don't exit activity on enthusiasm gain on: October 22, 2010, 09:43:08 pm
I have been keeping an eye out for this hack for a couple of years now but have never seen anything like it.

FT introduced a new bug where a sim will exit an activity on enthusiasm gain during certain times of the day. For some activities this means they cannot skill in the daytime and for some they cannot skill at night. Not all but many sims are affected in my game. I currently have a sim that relies on fishing for her food and it is after 7pm and she is about to starve to death overnight because this was Day 1 of her existence and I didn't realise she was experiencing this bug so I didn't have her fish during the day. So I am now desperate because no food = dead sim. Yes, I know I can get food in other ways. The whole point of the challenge is for the sim to be self-sufficient so buying her a fridge and getting food from that is not an option in this scenario.

I have tested this without any mods installed and it still happens. And this is over multiple installations of the game on 2 different computers. So it's not a hack conflict. It is not fixed by Pescado's FT Fixes or his AL Fixes.

To give examples:

1) I send a sim fishing after dark. She baits the fishing rod, casts and immediately puts the rod away. At the same time she gains some nature enthusiasm. This does not happen during the day, only at night.

2) I send a toddler to the activity table during the daytime. He completes part of a drawing, gains Arts and Crafts enthusiasm and sits down on the floor next to the table. Again, this only happens in the daytime and he can use the activity table just fine at night.

3) I send a sim to the bookcase in the daytime and he spends several minutes skilling in cooking, gains cooking enthusiasm and puts the book back on the shelf. This only happens in the daytime, he can skill just fine after dark.

Has anyone seen a fix for this?

I have all EPs and all SPs, all the ones with patches available are patched.
2  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / Fired nannies stay fired on: September 18, 2009, 05:54:41 am
This is driving me absolutely batty. The nanny, who was fired one generation ago, is still turning up at the house, now attempting to care for the next generation of the family. She is repeatedly fired or having her services ended (depending on whether the member of the household hates her or not it's either "fire" or "end services") but she just keeps coming back the next day. I am working on having the sim who originally hired her fulfil his second LTW but I'm at the point of having to make him retire because this nanny just won't go away. I suspect that she will continue to turn up until 1) Kevin kicks the bucket 2) Kevin retires/quits his job. Because she'll keep turning up as long as he's alive and working! She cared for Kevin's kids, then went all Fatal Attraction and started to pick fights with his wife. So the wife ended her (the nanny's) services. And she's been coming back every day ever since. She is now attempting to care for Kevin's grandkids.

I want her out. I don't want weeping sims because she had a "tragic accident". I don't want to have to edit everyone's memories in SimPE to prevent the weeping. I just want a fired nanny to stay fired, please. And countless others do as well. I know that I'm not the only one plagued by this but I'm perhaps the only idiot unwilling to kill off the nanny just so my sims won't go through weeks of weeping and gnashing of teeth. I have no idea if this hack already exists or not (I have not come across one that targets this and I've been on the look-out for it for a while) but for all that is holy could someone PLEASE fix the coding for ending the services of a nanny?

I have all EPs and SPs.
3  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / No exit action on enthusiasm gain + potty training enabled for nanny/butler on: June 23, 2009, 10:25:48 pm
I cannot find a hack to address this so I am hoping that you can make this or that someone here knows of it's existence and can point me in the right direction.

In a nutshell: when sims interact with an object that increases enthusiasm in a hobby, they immediately drop the action when they gain hobby enthusiasm. This is most noticeable with objects that came with FT, as hobby enthusiasm gain seems to be allotted AFTER a sim finishes using pre-FT objects, such as the easel. This happens in a totally unmodded game.

Example: Chester Tester, his wife Lorraine and their 2 toddlers Toby and Laura live on a vacant lot. They have a football goal, a pottery wheel, an easel and all the toddler toys. Chester is directed to play football and exits out of the action as soon as he gains athletics enthusiasm. Laura is directed to paint and continues to do so through a couple of creativity skill points and only gains 2 points of arts and crafts enthusiasm when told to stop painting. She is then directed to create many plates on the pottery wheel but gains craft enthusiasm at the end of making the first plate and exits out before starting on the second plate. Not that she starts on the second plate - the action drops from her queue. The toddlers seem to only gain enthusiasm when told to stop playing with toys. However, I seem to have a mod in my Downloads that lets them gain enthusiasm before they are told to stop an activity, which leads to toddlers continuously stopping and starting drawing or playing with blocks on the FT toddler table, leading to toddler table musical chairs as they repeatedly stop and start drawings and playing with blocks.

It's driving me batty. Please make it STOP! LOL

Also, if this was supposed to be addressed with Pescado's ALfixes or FTfixes, I have both in my modded game and they do not make a difference. I have redownloaded those 2 mods several times, just in case I missed an update. It happens in a totally unmodded game, too, so it's not a mod/hack conflict causing this. Chester and Co were my test family in a totally unmodded game.

My one and only HCDU conflict:

*** POSSIBLE CONFLICT DETECTED ***
File Type: BHAV
Procedure Name: Interaction - Use
Group ID: 0x7F29E93A
Instance ID: 0x00001005
Packages Containing This Procedure:
\downloads\Hacks - AL\MATY\yellowpee.package
\downloads\Hacks - AL\MTS2\Richi3f-Deco-HobbyEnthusiasm.package

It's possibly Richi3f's mod causing the continual enthusiasm gain for the toddlers at the activity table so I will take it out to see if it stops the musical chairs, but it would be nice if my sims could use the basketball hoop, soccer goal, pottery wheel, etc, in peace, rather than exiting out as soon as they gain enthusiasm.

I have all EPs and SPs, up to and including AL + M&G. All my EPs and Celebration Stuff are patched. I would be quite happy to test a variety of objects in the game to let you know which ones are affected if this is not able to be fixed with a global mod.

ETA: Also, would it be possible to enable potty training for the nanny and/or butler? It's silly that they can both look after toddlers but will wait for a kid to soil themselves before doing anything about it.
4  Welcome to insimenator.org / Issues & Suggestions / Weird cross-over - old upload threads in request section on: April 17, 2009, 06:05:26 am
There appear to be some regular upload threads in the request section. For example, there are two "regular" threads of Kavar's skintone uploads in the skintone request section. There are eye upload threads in the eyes request section. Uploads of facial hair in the facial items section, etc. They were not there when the site went back up after the revolution rolled through. The request section was empty. And then a couple of months ago the whole Genetics and Makeup requests section seems to have mysteriously picked up a bunch of regular upload threads dating back to 2007.

I realise that people upload in the request section - I did earlier today to fill a request. But these are normal upload threads and not responses to requests.

Also, and I don't know if this issue is limited to me, whenever I enter the requests section, the Genetics and Makeup section never shows that there have been post updates. As this is the section that I frequent the most, filling requests, I find this somewhat annoying, albeit at the slightly niggling level rather than at the sending me into a mouth foaming fury level Smiley I just find it mildly inconvenient to have to enter the section to check if there are new requests that I could fill. All the other sections in requests appear with bold text if there have been updates in those sections. The only one not updating, at least as it appears to me, is the Genetics and Makeup section.

ETA: And rather than starting a new thread: for some reason it appears as if Squinge's section is sitting on a weird branch of the Insimenator forum tree. When I'm in other sections of the forum, I get Simmers Paradise as part of the forum tree, but when I'm in Squinge's section this particular "branch" is not there and when I click on Squinge's Mods to go back up a level (eg. to back up out of Squinge's Mod Help Section and go to the general Squinge's Mods area) I get thrown back to the front page and have to re-enter the forums from the beginning by clicking on the Forums link.
5  Simmers' Paradise / Sims Life Stories Help / Life Stories - sims doing FT idle gestures on: November 06, 2008, 09:23:48 pm
This is probably a totally dumb question but... I'm currently taking a short break from the full TS2 game to play through Life Stories. And the sims are doing FT idle gestures! What I mean is that several times I have seen sims doing the shadow boxing gesture that is typical of sims whose one true hobby is sport.

Because I haven't played SLS in a while (over a year) I cannot remember if this had been happening before. It's just weird seeing the gesture in a game that is supposed to have nothing to do with FT. Is this normal? Are people who don't have FT on their machine seeing this in SLS? I haven't seen any idle gestures other than the shadow boxing, so no wrist massaging, no "Rubix sphere", no ballet toes, no tummy rubbing, etc, just the shadow boxing.
6  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Skintones / Genie defalut replacement - Enayla's Pixie Bruise on: October 26, 2008, 09:07:03 pm
This was requested here. The original Pixie Bruise skintone and Violet eyes can be found here.

This replaces the default Genie skintone so that you go from this

to this!

I used the Genie default replacement by IAmTheRad as base. Keep in mind that you can only use one Genie default at a time so you have to choose between this one and IAmTheRad's.

Since this took hours to make and I'm a kind ol' soul who thinks things should be easy, I have also included in the attachments the Genie vest transparency for other creators to snag. Only grab the PNG file if you intend to use it for your own nefarious purposes. Otherwise, you only need the RAR, which contains the default replacement package.

Requires Free Time. The Genie is not available in any other EP.

TOS: As is usual with my stuff, give it to your grandma or your younger brother to use in their game, give it to the dog to chew, whatever. Please respect Enayla's policies with regard to her textures. No uploading to the Exchange, nor to paysites. I cannot stop you but karma will get you in the end. Most of all - enjoy you new non-virulently purple Genie!
7  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Skintones / Defaults - Rosebud's Handpainted Skintone on: October 22, 2008, 09:34:38 pm
This is a sort of mix-and-match default set of Rosebud1773's Handpainted Skintone. It's mix-and-match in that you get two choices for S1 and S2.

S1 = Pale or Peach
S2 = Tan or Between Tan and Medium
S3 = Medium
S4 = Dark
S5 = Alien

These are defaults so they will appear instead of the Maxis skintones. Only use one default replacement for each skin colour. This means that you can have Pale OR Peach for S1 and Tan OR Between Tan and Medium for S2, but not both of the S1 or both of the S2 defaults at the same time. If you would like to have the full range of skintones in your game, you will need to download the non-default versions of the skintone from Rosebud's thread.

Downloads in links above because it was taking an eternity to attach these to the post Smiley

TOS: I don't mind what you do with the defaults but please respect Rosebud's policies with regard to the skintone textures themselves.
8  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Skintones / defaults - Enayla's Pixie Supernatural on: August 29, 2008, 04:10:34 am
The new set of Enayla's supernatural skintones as monster defaults.

Pixie Galaxies with Gem eyes as alien default.

Download!

Pixie Grave with Blind eyes as zombie default.

Download!

Pixie Ivy with Sunflower eyes as plantsim green default.

Download!

Pixie Glory with Wine eyes (from the Pixie Forests Collection) as plantsim wilt default.

Download!

There are two versions of the vamp default:

Pixie Stalker with Murderer eyes as vampire default

Download!

Pixie Stalker as vampire default (no red eye)

Download!

As per all other defaults, use only one set of default skintones at any time. These skintones will appear instead of the 4 Maxis monster skintones. Only choose one vampire default - either the one with red eyes or the one that shows your own default eyes.

Like all Enayla skintones, these are anatomically correct in that the females have nipples. Do not download if your eyes, brain and soul will be scorched by the sight of nipples on a female sim.

You need the base game to use the alien default.
You need the University EP to use the zombie default.
You need the Nightlife EP to use the vampire default.
You need the Seasons EP to use the plantsim defaults.

Edit [30 Aug 08]:
As the question has been asked, I would like to clarify the issue of the use eye defaults and these skintones.

As alien default eyes are independent of the skintone, they will work with this skintone. Here are Lola and Chloe Curious (aka Singles). I have not done anything to these sims other than move them into a house and place them against a wall so I could take a picture - I have simply place the Galaxies alien skintone default and Rensim's Confutatis alien default eyes into the downloads folder of a game that is totally devoid of all other CC and mods. As you can see, the eye defaults work quite successfully because they are independent of the skintone.

The eyes that come with the other skintones (other than the vamp no red eye) will become your default eyes for that skintone. The vamp, zombie and plantsim (green and wilt) skintones do not have independent eye defaults. If you are already using eye defaults for those supernaturals, you will need to choose whether you want to keep them and not use these defaults or take them out and use these defaults. Vamp, zombie and plantsim (green and wilt) eyes are part of the skintone and you can only have one set of defaults skintones at any time.

Kudos to the SimPE team for a great tool.

TOU:

Do whatever you want to these but respect Enayla's policies. So no recolouring so feel free to change the eyes or teeth, etc, but don't change the skintone itself. When people ask about it, credit Enayla. I don't care if you give these to your grandmother or little brother to use. They are free to distribute. No paysites, no Exchange.
