Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / First Impressions

Apartments: The cost is astronomical for their small size. They're okay, but I'm not praising EA's brilliance for editing the dorm/hotel code. Hair: I use almost all CC, but there were a few new Maxis ones I like. Clothes: There actually is some cute stuff! I had to go through pages of CC to find new clothes, but they are there and I like some of them. Furniture: Eh. I like the decorative wall shelf, but it's odd that the majority of items they made to sit on it (cereal boxes, books, etc.) ONLY look good there, because they look oddly small sitting on a counter or end table. Witchcraft: I like it a lot. It'll make my stereotypical "witch" store a lot more interesting. Belladonna Cove: I don't play the new neighborhoods. I'll look at them when I first get them because they've incorporated all the new features into them, but don't get involved in them.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What's your take on Securom?
|
on: September 05, 2008, 02:07:12 pm

While I've had absolutely no issues with SecuROM, I'm still very concerned. The company "Stardock' has a 'Gamer Bill of Rights' which I would totally support. It includes things like the right to know when software is being installed on your system, the right to know what that software does, etc. The privacy issues that SecuROM breeches make me angry with EA. No program - that I was NOT informed was installing - should be able to affect other programs on MY personal computer.
That said, the idea of boycotting EA is a little more than I can take. I have every single thing released for TS2 except for IKEA stuff.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Hacks with AL
|
on: September 05, 2008, 03:40:27 am
|
I deleted a couple mods and hacks before loading AL for the first time (namely - ones I didn't use or wanted removed anyway) and it seems to run just fine, even with plenty of hacks.
The only thing I'm confused about is why I can't find the "brush teeth" option anywhere.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Have you built an apartment?
|
on: September 05, 2008, 03:33:38 am

I haven't tried to build one yet. Frankly, I think it's rather obnoxious that EA didn't make an effort to make building apartments easier. You know when you add a new lot, it asks you if it's commercial or residential? Why couldn't they have added an "Residential - House" and "Residential - Apartment" option there? It's going to make players who don't like getting into cheat codes not be as pleased with apartments.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Memories of Abduction not correct
|
on: September 03, 2008, 12:43:02 pm

I married Cassandra Goth and Darren Dreamer, and they've had children. When Darren gets abducted (twice now), Cassandra runs to the telescope and looks out. However, Darren gets the memory of "Cassandra met aliens." The children get the memory of "Cassandra was abducted by aliens." Cassandra got the memory of "Was abducted by aliens," one of the two times Darren was abducted. To make this even more frustrating, Darren is a knowledge Sim, of course, so he would have loved this. I have all the game patches that are released downloaded, and this was an issue before the installation of Apartment Life. Would this be something I'd have to alter in SimPE or something similar? Thanks in advance! Darn, nobody? Really? I've had this on here, MATY, and the official Sims 2 website for three days now and no one's responded anywhere.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Religious faith versus Non-conformist faith and the Sims 2

caffeinated.joy, as someone who's been Pagan since she was four, I think I love you. The pentacle is a continuous star, within a circle (representing endless cycles). The five points represent fire, air, earth, water and spirit - what is considered by Pagans to be the make-up of everything in life. The symbol of the Horned God is: Therefore, even an inverse pentacle is NOT a symbol of devil worship, but was twisted so people would think so. It's merely a more masculine version of the traditional upright pentacle. That's it. Anyway, I don't think my religion has much of an impact on the way I play my game at all, other than my excitement of witches being added in, and the stereotypical "The Craft"-like OFB shop I had some girls set up, which the inclusion of witches now makes more entertaining. Other than that, I try to make my Sims insanely happy to the point where I ruin some fun for myself. It's rare they have more than one love and don't marry them, and Lucy Burb and her husband were the *FIRST* couple I've ever had get divorced in years of playing TS2. Turmoil amongst my Sims, or failure, is something that is hard for me to do, because I have to get over my gamer instinct of doing everything perfect and "winning" to make myself do anything other than have them succeed.
