I guess it helps if I attach the file.  Fixed.

I feel really, really stupid now...
32  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Honeys / Levanya on: December 08, 2007, 08:59:58 pm
This is Levanya Devi.  She is a foreign exchange student from Fiji waiting for admission to Sim State University.  She wants to major in Philosophy, and hopes to one day be able to move to Pleasantville and get into a culinary career.

Custom content is as listed below.  I would like to especially thank Enayla for her wonderful Pixie skins and her eyes; Rock Chick for her hair, makeup, and accessories; and Helaene for her makeup.  Without you three in particular, my Sims would be very dull. :group hu:

Note: This is a Young Adult sim, and therefore requires University EP.  Additionally, she was created using BV Body Shop, though I don't think you will need BV.

My apologies.  Yes, the hair is from Bon Voyage.  I should have mentioned that.

Edit: I've uploaded a non-EP version of her as well.

Thank you! Cheesy

This is my very first upload, so please be gentle!

This is Emily.  She is a computer geek looking for a home in a nice, quiet neighborhood with good internet connectivity.  Although she doesn't get out very much, she is looking for Mr. Right; ideally, he'd be a fellow Geek.  She is sporting a T-shirt with Tux the Penguin, the mascot for her favorite operating system, Linux.

Here are Emily's personality attributes:

Her T-shirt is a creation of mine, and is a recolor of a Maxis shirt.  Please feel free to redistribute it as you wish, provided it does not end up on a pay site, and that I am credited as the original creator.  Other than that, enjoy!  I plan on uploading more clothing as I get better with recolors.

With the exception of the T-Shirt, Emily is composed of 100% Maxis components, so there is no other custom content.  Be advised, though, that the hair is from Bon Voyage.  If you don't have that EP, her hair won't display.  Please download the non-BV version instead.

Please let me know what you think of her, and of my shirt. Smiley

Thanks hon!  I've now got her in a nice family in a beautiful house I may upload here once I've worked out where all the custom content I used in it came from.

I had a little problem with her hair when I brought her up in BS.  She came up bald and wouldn't let me select a hair.  It's not a big deal, I was able to fix it in CAS, but figured I'd let you know.

Out of curiousity, which hair did you use in that picture?  I want to see if I have it or can find it.

Thanks, guys.  Smiley

I mod a forum myself, so I really should have known better.
41  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / The Sims 2 on Windows Vista (Updated 7 Feb 2007) on: July 26, 2007, 11:33:35 pm
Unfortunately, I just don't see any significant programs on the horizon that would take advantage of a 64-bit processor. By the time enough of them come out, Vista may be all but a memory.

I confess I'm old enough to remember the transition from 16-bit processors, and even from 8-bit processors. Both times, there was a significant performance gain from the next evolution.  Not so this time.  Also, there were an abundance of programs that took advantage of the new architecture that came out very quickly.  Not so this time.  Why?  Well, I wish I knew.  Maybe computers really have become "good enough". *shrug*

FWIW, maybe this will save some people the cost of "side-grading" from 32- to 64-bit:

I beta-tested Vista Ultimate 32-bit since last November on my Athlon64-based laptop.  When the beta license ran out last June, I bought Home Premium 64-bit.  I have noticed very little in the way of discernible performance improvement.  In fact, given that Sims2 is a 32-bit application, it will gain absolutely no benefit from running in a 64-bit environment.

So, in short - if you are getting ready to upgrade to Vista, buy the version appropriate for your computer (there's no cost difference between 32- and 64-bit).  If you've already bought the 32-bit version for your 64-bit machine, just leave it.  The minimal performance increase is not worth the price of buying the 64-bit "upgrade" - unless you absolutely need to have more than 3GB of RAM.

Thank you - that helps clear things up.

I feel pretty stupid now...

Please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place...  I've looked but couldn't find a more appropriate forum.

I truly enjoy creating sims and have quite a large collection of them both in my bin and in-game.  I would love to be able to share them all with you here, but I'm faced with a serious ethical concern:  I have well over 4GB of custom content collected from pretty much all over the internet (none from pay sites, though), and have not kept good records of who created what.  Many of the files I have do have identifiers, but a large number of them do not.  To make matters worse, I've made some recolors (not many - I'm not that great at it), but - again, didn't keep track of what I've done.

So, I guess my question is - how do I go about uploading my sims with custom content when I cannot identify who created the content so I can check if I can upload them here?

Or am I stuck with stripping my sims of everything and locating Maxis replacements?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
TIA
-Kat
