Simmers' Paradise / Mac-Users Only Peer Support / What is Securom, and are Mac users cursed with it?

LOL, you do have a way with words, Michelle. Love it. Milkiemybaby, Securom is a so-called copyright protection piece of - um - software that is designed to protect artists and authors from losing income due to infringement. Now, having said that heavy-handed crap, the problem arises from it's own short-comings that plague all software - older versions of some programs such as NERO (and also many others) are not in Securom's tables as being OK, so it thinks you have pirating software and prevents the game from running. If you can start your game, you don't have a problem. I've heard there are fixes for this if you do have a problem, but I'm not sure where to find them. I've seen it referenced on this site so you may be able to find the threads that have links to the fixes.

Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misc. Mods and Careers / No School For Teen Sims

InTeen stops school and makes most of the adult things available to teens when they have 7 days left as a teen. That is about half-way through the teen cycle. They still are shown as school students, but they don't go to school and can have adult jobs, etc. I've not tried to see if the "take XXXX to school" option for driving is available or will work once this has happened, however the school bus no longer comes for them, and they can still go to college before they become full adults after 15 days as a teen.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What do I do now

That happened to me once with a fire in a tree on the street. The tree had a small fence around it and the fireman couldn't get to it, nor could anyone else. Build/buy wouldn't enable despite InSim after the fire started, the game base code overrides everything at that point. I think possibly the window, being a part of the wall and not an access like a door, is considered to be blocking access to the fire. I removed a section of the decorative fence. I don't know what might be done for window boxes. I'll have to experiment a bit.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How to find corrupt custom content?
|

I had the same problem in decorative. I had to do it the slow way. Fortunately, I had a stable sub-folder with most of the downloads in it so I only had to look through a hundred or so. Turned out to be a ground solar panel I had downloaded. Anyway, I copied the downloads not in the stable folder to a save area and then deleted those and then copied them back, twelve and restarted, no problem delete those and copy the next twelve, keep trying until you zero in on the culprit. I was fortunate in that on my Vista machine I could see a blank CC box in the decorative/misc. XP just crashed when I tried to page through. Grunt work locating it. Good luck.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Securom on my PC?

LOL. I, too mini rant every now and again. I am running with all EPs through FT and all SPs through IKEA and have had no problems. I don't burn that many disks, either. There is a way to get rid of it, but unless you are comfortable with editing the Windows registry directly, it is probably not a good thing to do. I don't generally fool around in there but I believe there are tools available that can assist. Then again, I've not had any problems running.
