BTW-

I have all EP's up to AL and all SP's except for mansion/garden stuff and ikea stuff.

I've now removed all my stuff again and done another uninstall.  I'm going to try to load each EP and test-play them seperately- then add a stuff pack one at a time and test those.... this will likely take all weekend...

I have to wonder if it's worth it?  Maybe it's time to find a new hobby or go stick my nose in another series of books??? LOL

Ok, before I say what the issue is today...

I've tried removing my dl folder, deleting cache files, and even completely uninstalling and reinstalling every one of my games.

I keep getting this error during play:

Error: Bad gosub tree number.

If I don't CONSTANTLY give my sims something to do I get this error- like every second it pops up- on every lot- in every "neighborhood".  It happens with ALL my sims.  It is constant and soooo annoying.

It's bad enough I have to deal with the game crashing all the time, the body shop not working, but now this!

CAN ANYONE tell me WHAT THE HECK this error means and/or how to "fix" it?  pReTtY PLEEEEEEAAAAAASE??

It's driving me totally nuts!

I downloaded the patch at EA but this is still an issue so I'm at a total loss.   

Any ideas anyone, please???

THANKS in advance- oh- and if I can fix all these issues I can begin doing custon sims/requests again- so if you're on my "to-sim" lists just hang in there or go to someone else if you're sick of waiting on me to work all these bugs out.

Wanna hear something really creepy...

I didn't even download the things that weren't included (I have the world's slowest dial up connection, ya know?) and decided to play the house as it came minus the cc.

So... I moved in a family... this is where it gets funny...

I moved my Sean William Scott sim in- with my Jessica Simpson sim *I know- lmao.

They have cute twin girls.  Anyhoo... I did the story as they want out of Hollywood chaos and move to this "fixer-upper" in the country.... it was pretty funny.

So they have this "home make-over" and prissy Jess is happy now... only...

THERE WERE FLIES in the basement... a swarm... then it was gone.  Really- she went to do the laundry (in the basement) and there they were.

I got freaked out and exited lot- without saving.

I went back in and guess what.... on of the cute twins is acting really "strange" and only wants to hang out alone...

IN THE BASEMENT!!!

I actually had issues and that was why I was wondering about the programs like compressorizer- etc.

I don't know if it was or wasn't patch related but yes- the install of EP 8 did lots of nice things- it also ate my other neighborhoods- made my mods/hacks go berserk (yes even the new compatible ones) and some other scary things that I tried to fix- and had the game "working" for about two days before it began to crash...

Anyhoo--- found that the best thing to do was to uninstall/reinstall then place my mods/hacks/cc etc in folder by folder bit by bit... followed by lots of copy/paste from backup files for missing people/lots...

I only ended up losing two houses that were in the bin...

AND I managed to get ALL neighborhoods back in the process...

So it was a good and bad experience.

I hadn't seen many of the original neighborhoods since EP2 LMAO!

It is all working ok for now (fingers crossed) and if I can just find the light house I'm missing I will be pretty happy.  

Ugh!

I think I backed up almost every file... of course except that one!

So, I guess it isn't so bad... there were only TWO houses I hadn't placed yet that I really, really want to find.

I made one myself- the other I downloaded.  I guess I start doing the search for the lighthouse I downloaded here... and try to remember how I made the other missing one! LOL

Thanks for your help... and now I know that the lot catalog file needs to be backed up too in the future- so thank you for that too.

Well any custom houses that were actually in the neighborhood are there- only the ones that I hadn't placed yet (were in the lots/houses bin) are missing.

I backed up the packaged lots file... but not sure if I backed up the catalog file... rats.

Ok, so I finally got the new ep to install, cleaned out and updated all my download files/hacks/mods... replaced older ones with newer compatible ones... managed to reinstall the sims I lost in the process... oh and all my neighborhoods were gone but Belladonna Cove... fixed that  *thank god for backup files right???

ANYHOO--- all issues are now solved (i think- gasp) and everything is patched, where it should be, and working (for the most part).

SO... what's the problem you ask?

Well...

All the custom houses/lots I have collected over the ages are gone... vanished... nowhere to be found.

I know how to go back and find the .rar files for the objecst and such... but the lots/houses are installed with that sims2pack installer thingy...

HOW (is it even possible) do I find the houses/lots I downloaded in order to reinstall them in my game?

I'm not sure where to look but I have looked in the winrar archives and the older back-up files and recycle bin.

Any help is appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

I've upgraded to the GeForce 8500 GT (512MB) NVIDIA VERTO (x16 PCI Express).

I discovered that while it is an AMAZING graphic card... really it is so amazing the difference...

I ended up having to get a better sound card and upgrade the power supply.

I am not so "technical" so "technically" I should say I had my dad come help me- and he got someone at Best Buy to help him figure out "what" we needed and how much of it. LOL

So all I can really offer is that the card itself is amazing... we got it so my five year old could play Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance...

The people look amazingly real... and it is like going from rabbit ears to HD...

So, I like the card very much.  Oh, and Best Buy DID have the BEST price on this too (at least in my neck of the woods).

I'd try it on another lot then - or even neighborhood.

It's likely it is just not the "right" kind of lot for a basement house.  I've found that a lot of the houses I downloaded needed to "live" somewhere other than where I wanted to put them. LOL

I am going to update my simpe for the new EP but that made me wonder...

1.  If I have things like download organizers or compressorizers... do those have to be updated or do they work the same no matter what ep you have?

2.  I also downloaded the patch for EP8 but now I am unsure if I need to only install that one... or also return any old patches for previous EP's with my download folder (once I purge it of all the incompatible crap of course).

Anyhoo that is all- only TWO ridiculous questions this time.

I openly admit that my search for the answer skills suck.  I apparently ask things no one else ponders... or just don't type the right "words" in for a good return on my searches.
