Might be a bit late, but I came across some on this page

This is great, I never use the cabinet because it doesn't fit with my theme but I can now-hurrah, thanks for another nifty little number.  I'll be back for this when I'm on my gaming computer.

I'm not sure if your playable sim can buy a book on an unowned community lot.  It should be easily enough worked round though I think, you'd just have to set the lot up with an owner-one you don't necessarily intend to play, and set things for sale as you would normally.  Then I think your playable could go there and buy stuff as long as it wasn't a home business.  I think I read that the hack Rufio made allows for restocking too so in theory it should work as well but you'd have to check that out for yourself.  I don't actually have it, I just saw it and thought it was kinda cool.
35  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Is this Just The Pets Floor Tile Problem? on: September 23, 2009, 11:03:12 am
Hello all,

Here's what happened.
The first thing I noticed when I went in to start building my half finished lot was that the flooring in the hall upsairs was all jumbled up, I did not lay it like that.  I'm using the same tile in all of that level but it was only in the hall that there was any change, the hall was the place where I had to rotate the tile though.  I manged to get the hall floor the way it should be but when I went downstairs the ceiling was now all jumbled up, not just the part below the hall, again I had rotated the tile for this ceiling.  I fixed it by using the shift key as I could not place the correctly aligned tiles over the jumbled ones but at the moment can't remember whether I rotated the tile this time or not.  Then when I went back up stairs just 2 tiles were affected, 2 that were not above the same room that I had just replaced the ceiling in.  I'm confused.  I checked the Wiki and there's nothing about this happening with floors and ceilings.  If I've understood that Wiki piece on the Pets problem correctly, it's just a case of rotating the tile and using the shift key until it works, my problem is that it works until I do the other side of the ceiling/floor.  Is the only answer to not rotate tiles/use plain ones or do I actually have a cc problem here?  Was game flooring affected by this glitch as well as custom ones?  I've patched all my games and maybe always had this problem but am only now noticing.

Thank you to all who take the time to read this and I hope this finds you all well.

Do you mean FT novels that are sellable?  Rufio (I'm fairly certain Rufio did it) over at MATY (More Awesome than You) has a hack that allows the selling of those novels, have a look in the peasantry.  I think it's bundled up with a pile of hacks of theirs.  If that's not what you meant, you know you can just set a bookcase to be be sold and sims will buy individual books from it.

Thanks TheRaven, I didn't manage to work out the shortcut for rotating the camera using the keys so that's handy, there'll be more control there I take it.  I had never thought that I'd need a camera mod until I tried to take a photo of a 4x4 lot and discovered I couldn't get far enough back to do it.  I'd like to get into taking more pics, it's helping me learn the Gimp a bit better, and I'd like to present any lots I put up here for download in the best possible light.  Also, after some positive feedback from the people at Living Sims Forum I'm about to apply for a photographry position with them (what I lack in talent I make up for with loads of free(-ish) time).  I like what I can do with the camera mod I'm using but it's annoying when I forget to take it out to play, after waiting so long for the game to load I've got to quit and replace the folder.  Thanks for the tips, I'm sure I'm not the only one who will read this and learn something.
39  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Advice on Camera Mods on: September 21, 2009, 06:16:04 am
Hello everyone,

Like with most things, I know very little about the virtues of the various camera mods that are available to us.  I started to use the Gunmod one as it was the one I'd seen mentioned most around the community, and suited my purposes.  Then I read in the readme that this particular camera mod is not intended for playing mode and when I tried it I could see why.  So, I'm looking for advice on the other camera mods that are around, particularly the ones that are intended for playing mode, so that I can swap between the two types depending on what I'm doing.  Is there one out there that is good for both modes?  In all honesty, I'm unable to tell you exactly what I want to do, other than be able to get good snaps in play mode-I'm new to taking photos.  Maybe you could tell me what you use and why.  I very much appreciate you taking the time to answer me.  Thank you.

In our final Biblical Aramaic test at uni, we had to give the perfect passive conjugation of the verb to build.  In English, my memory is blurry, it sounds something like banah, binoh, etc.  My friend and I were not expecting a passive verb in the test and we both paniced a bit.  Anyway, afterwards I asked my friend how she did with that.  She said that she just could not remember the correct conjugation and after many many variations of the word banah she just wrote in big letters across the page BANANA!!! and left it at that.

Thanks Joy, I remember finding my post to link it but I obviously didn't get as far as copying the link and Wonder Woman was the last update I was trying to do last night-so that explains why you get Wonder Woman when you think you're getting a house.  Sorry about that, but they do keep forgetting to lock up the booze around here.
43  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Help! Tempest Cooktop Stove Crashing Game! on: September 19, 2009, 06:41:09 pm
Usually it's a case of taking your Downloads folder out and trying again.  If you get in then the problem is in your Downloads folder.  I suspect you know that though as you've run CI.  Have you tried the Hack Conflict Detection Utility from Sim's Wardrobe?  Find it by going to Sims2>Programmes.  Not all conflicts are a problem but it is a good starting point.  Do you have any hacks related to that stove/restaurants/the NPC chef?  I think that'd be my first thought.  After removing them and trying your game, asssuming it still doesn't work, I'd take out all my hacks and try again.  If that didn't work then the whole Downloads folder would come out and I'd add batches at a time until I found the right batch.  I'd probably start with custom stoves.   How I wish there was a magic wand to find problem files but there's no easy way, except to get into the habit of keeping your cc reasonably well organised so that future rogues are easier to find.

I don't know what EPs and stuff you have but I made a family sized lot for someone here, have a look at this page.  It's 4x4 so not massive but it's got 5 bedrooms including the nursery, with room for more if you wanted.
