16  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / WCIF something to manage townie clothes better - Done and Dusted on: August 12, 2009, 04:22:59 am
Hi all,
Rubbish title I know, this is a WCIF/help thing really.  I've spent ages reclothing all the pre made sims in the game, I use Christianlov's clothing rack and the no npc revert hack to keep them looking the way I want.  It seems to work ok, except they still keep running past my houses in tracksuits and stuff.  I really cannot be bothered to give them all a full wardrobe (I was going to sell them other types of clothing once I got a clothing shop up and running).  So I'm looking for a hack that will stop non playable sims changing into anything other than everyday or something that will stop them doing the running past my house thing.
While I'm here, is it still the case with the game that if you get level 10 in creativity through painting, you automatically have the ability to play the piano?  (I'm only really now getting back into playing, rather than just building for fun).  That's always annoyed me, is there a hack that differentiates?  So that to being able to paint does not make you a master of music and vice versa.
Thank you all for your time.

Hello modders,

I think this would be considered a mod, if it's an object request please move it and accept my apologies.  I would like my sims, peasants particularly, to be able to cook in the middle of the room at a chimneyless hearth.  This is the closest thing I have, http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=72971, this hearth is a BBQ though and doesn't have all the cooking options and with the chimney is not ideal in the middle of the room.  Other than that, Lethe's oven is perfect as the surfaces match up with a stove I think.  Please don't take that as a request to change her work, it's just the best example I can find.  There are actually many BBQs that would look ok, the old stone type ones but I'd like the cooking options of a stove, and the ability to cook indoors with it without fires all the time like BBQs do.  I hope this is possible and not too hard, thanks in advance and thanks for having a place for requests.
18  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Cooking the old fashioned way and no skilling hack on: July 20, 2009, 09:49:17 am
Hello again everyone,

This time I'm looking for a hearth, the kind that would sit in the middle of the room.  It needs to function as a cooker/stove though.  My hood is inspired by history, especially the medieval period.  If any of you know this set, http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=72971, you'll know that this almost perfect hearth is a BBQ, so does not give all the cooking options.  This is the kind of thing I'm looking for, ideally without the chimney bit at the top so I can place it in the centre of a room.  Alternatively, do you know if I can make the game think this hearth is a cooker-fiddling with SimPE or something? (for my own use) Not that I have a clue about that programme but I'd like to.  I was thinking maybe an invisible stove may exist, and I could use that with suitable objects and move objects on?  Any suggestions much appreciated, thanks.

Also, is there a hack that allows my sims from gaining skill points from the chess table and the likes that can be turned on and off, on an individual or family basis? Thanks again
19  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / How old do you need to be to play/buy TS2 on: July 18, 2009, 05:44:48 pm
This is just a quick question and maybe a bit daft but it's been bugging me for a while and it's come to my attention again looking at the mods request forum and someone wanted the woo hoo option removed from their game to make it child friendly.  I keep reading that the Sims is T or r13 or something.  I'm in the Uk and my game says you need to be 7 to play the Sims, is that just here?  Now that I think about it, maybe some of the EPs here are meant for 12s and above but the base game does say 7+, I've just checked.  I actually do think the game is suitable for 7 years olds, woo hoo or not, but that's an aside.  So is it just here in the UK where we can have kiddie simmers?
20  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Help me make a Mercat Cross on: July 15, 2009, 07:02:28 pm
Does anyone know where I'd be able to find something similar to a mercat cross, please visit this page to see the one in my home town.
http://www.geo.ed.ac.uk/scotgaz/towns/townfirst39.html.  I just need something like the unicorn on the top and I'll just stick it on a pillar.
In case you're interested, the mercat (=market) cross was situated in the middle of a medieval market place, at least in my town and probably elsewhere too, and was the place where transactions would be made and oaths taken.  It was kind of a sacred witness to the business of the day in a world where written contracts weren't in use among the masses.
Any suggestions much appreciated, thanks.
21  Simmers' Paradise / Clothing & Body Mesh's / What? A Clay outfit!-read on on: June 15, 2009, 05:11:31 pm
I would like to replace the servos in the game with golems.  A golem is basically a man of clay and they are found in Terry Pratchett novels, 'Feet of Clay' for one.  If anyone is from the UK then think of a malformed Morph.  In the books they behave kind of like robots and would be ideal replacements in my Pratchett inspired hood.  I think I can change the servo with SimPE but in order to do that I need the appropriate garb.  That's where you come in.

The body suit I'm after should be of humanoid shape with no definition and with hands that look like they are wearing oven gloves, the kind of thing a child would make with play dough.  The mask would need to cover the whole head and neck, golems don't have much of a neck.  Their eyes are holes with burning red spots in the middle.  I've tried looking for pics but can't find anything I think is right.  I'm teaching myself to recolour so the meshes are really what I'm after but if you wanna throw in a nice clay texture, feel free.

I know this is a bit of a long shot so if anyone has any other ideas about skins that may fit with my hood, pipe up. Thanks

Sorry about posting this here, I'm not sure where to put this.
My problem is that when I attempt to register at GOS I'm always told that an error has occurred and I'm not permitted to join.  I can't find contact details for the site on the pages I've seen so can't speak to them about it.  Does anyone have an email address I can use to sort this?  Thanks in advance.
23  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / help with testingcheatsenabled/error log please on: May 27, 2009, 07:33:55 am
hi there,

The scenario is single sim walks to unowned community lot.  On arrival the game is on triple speed and can't be changed but can be paused; she is in the red entirely except for environment and no other sims show up.  I used testingcheatsenabled and the only error was

Controller-CLP-
Community Lot-Populator #68
Error: Stack number out of range
The stack trace is saved in blah blah

I looked at the error report but obviously don't know what it means.  It's also very long so don't want to copy and paste but I don't know how to post it either.  I know-I'm rubbish.  When the testingcheats was on, the game could then be slowed down to the correct time but still no other sims showed up.  I don't know what that means either, I am not at all familiar with this cheat and still very scared of it.

So, any help in deciphering an error log would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

edit: I think I'm able to post the log, here goes

ok, trying again
24  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Where is my bodyshop cc? on: April 29, 2009, 04:51:16 pm
Whether in my saved sims folder or my downloads folder, nothing is showing up.  The configuration file is right.  I've re installed AL, should I reinstall them all?  Could some one tell me all the files I can safely delete?  Please help if you can, all suggestions greatly appreciated.

25  Simmers' Paradise / Mods & Careers / Historically minded creators, please help. on: April 04, 2009, 06:27:15 am
Hi there,

First, thanks for reading.

I've finally bitten the bullet and am setting up a medieval/Pratchet type neighbourhood and am looking for ways to employ my serfs.  I was thinking of setting up a mine, where my serfs would dig for treasure and with BV I can do this.  What I would like is for my sims to have a mine option and when mining they could find 3 or 4 metals or minerals to pass on/sell to their employer.  To make it extra special maybe a diamond could be thrown in as a once in a life time/generation thing, which could then secure that poor sim's future enabling them to move up into the merchant class.  I do not intend this to be a career just an added option for making money really.  Thinking about this as I write I'm sure this set up could be beneficial for other scenarios too.

The second thing I am asking for is basically a bringing together of stuff already in the game.  I'm sure this has been asked about in other places and if I have missed a link I apologise.  How to write a novel without a computer?  I would like my historical novellist to sit down and write a novel in the same way as kids and students do homework.

Are these things possible or have they been done?  This is my first request and it's been a long time since I even posted on a forum (was computerless for ages) so hope this is right.  Again, thanks to all who read this and good luck and thanks to those who attempt to create these.

26  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Help!Where's my audio? on: July 25, 2007, 04:33:01 am
Thanks for looking at this.

Can anyone tell me what this stuff means and what I need to do to sort it?

When I go into the cheat bar, these messages are there.

  1.  Error TSAudio: Segment at %DataDirectory%Res/Sound/locale/%Language/Sfx/Tracks/Karaoke/has no extention defined in section DBSegmentDirectoryFiles./Source/TSAudioResourceManager.

(This is written twice, along with another two that refer to the DJs Booth.)

2.  Error TSAudio Music (buy) listed twice in category property set./source/TS AudioMusicManager. cpp (1651)

(This message is repeated with build, CAS, NHood a few times each.)

3.  Error TS Audio Failed to cache recource.0b9eb87e:eb8ab356: ff8bceb2:/source/TS AudioResourceManager

I may have made mistakes with spaces and slashes in the above but I think that's about right.

Please help if you can.  Thanks again.
27  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Help! Lost CC on: May 28, 2007, 04:09:47 pm
We had problems with our computer after catching a nasty virus and the only remedy we came up, after getting rid of it,  was to set up another user account on Windows.  So far so good, but when I go to play my game on the new account my CC isn't showing up.  I know it's there and it shows up in the first, now dodgy, user account but doesn't load in the new one.  I've tried moving them out of their folder and in again and turning CC on and off, restarting about a million times.  I've also tried turning the CC off in the other account, all to no avail.  So, please help me if you can and thanks to all who read this.
