3  Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / Short story: Gabriel's Mission on: December 24, 2008, 01:37:57 pm
Here's a short story I wrote for Christmas. The pictures aren't that great - but I hope you'll forgive me that.

Gabriel's Mission

A tiny apartment in London, England
December 24
22:54 PM

BANG.

The bed collapsed under the impossible weight of one man, and one insanely huge cat. Aforementioned cat was sitting on top of the mess, not looking at all displeased with the destruction.
“Oops,” said Gabriel.
“Oops,” echoed the cat. “If I were you, I’d be getting out of that bed pronto.” Gabriel blinked twice, got up into a half-sitting position and grabbed the alarm clock from the low table. The tiny red numbers told him it was nearly eleven o’clock. Gabriel rolled out of newly crashed bed. The cat remained in the same position, staring intently at Gabriel with his reflecting green eyes.

Gabriel went through the mess that was his room, desperately trying to locate a pair of shoes. In the end he managed to find some, slid his feet into them and took a black backpack from his desk. He let his eyes go over the room one last time. The cat was sitting peacefully on the bed, still looking at Gabriel. He could’ve sworn the animal was actually grinning at him. Then he raced through the door and away from the room, downstairs and outside. The night was bitterly cold, but at the moment the temperature was the least of his worries. He slid his hand into his pocket, ready to take out the list.

Except there was no list. Gabriel searched his pockets nervously, beginning to panic. Still there was no sign of the paper. He closed his eyes and forced himself to recall where he might have lost it.
“Gabriel!” a deep voice brutally interrupted his thoughts. His eyes flew open and he immediately spun around to face the source of the sound. There, standing in his garden, was Santa Claus. And the man was obviously not pleased.
“Y-yes, Santa Claus?” he stuttered. Santa took him in, shook his head and muttered something underneath his breath.
“Good, Gabriel,” he then continued. “I need your help. There’s an enormous amount of presents to be handed out – and I’m short of people to do the job.”
“But sir,” Gabriel interfered. “God kind of, um, gave me other things to do.” Santa frowned angrily. Gabriel made a mental note not to piss him off on the next Heaven bingo night.
“Do I look like I care?” the old man grunted. He pushed a second list into Gabriel’s hands. “The names and addresses of the kids you’ll be delivering presents to, and...” Santa flicked his fingers and Gabriel’s backpack suddenly weighed a ton more. “... the presents themselves.”
“Clever trick,” Gabriel remarked. Santa gave him one of his trademark angry glares.
“Very well. Beware of the dogs, and don’t lose the list, will you?”
“No, sir,” he attempted to look serious. Santa frowned once more, then left the garden through the backdoor. Gabriel couldn’t resist and peeked through the door. Santa was long gone. Then he shifted his attention to the piece of paper he was holding.

Madeline Verdun, it read in curly letters on top of the list. Following the name was an address in the neighbourhood. Gabriel shrugged, decided to risk God’s wrath over that of Santa Claus, and set out for Madeline’s house. He fought his way through the crowds of elated people and finally managed to make it to the suburbs, there were Madeline lived. By then he was panting and regretting his promise to the old man. Unwilling to give up just yet though, he observed the house and quickly spotted Madeline’s room, handily indicated by the coloured letters stuck onto the window that spelled M-A-D-L-I-N-E. The first E had mysteriously disappeared. He gripped the edge of the low roof, and climbed onto it. Painfully slow he made his way towards Madeline’s window, twice almost falling off. He had almost reached the window when an alarming growl sounded behind him. Gabriel closed his eyes, said a prayer and then turned to face the thing that had just growled at him. On the ground, half sinking away in the snow, stood a humongous dog.

“Cute doggy,” Gabriel whispered. The dog barked and jumped against the wall. Gabriel rapidly moved into a more stable position, and took his backpack. He hastily searched the thing, hoping Santa Claus had been forward enough to provide him with some weapons. There weren’t any weapons in the backpack, and no other things to distract the dog either. Gabriel sighed dramatically, pulled his left shoe off and threw it at the dog. The shoe hit the animal between the eyes, and he staggered, then fell onto the snowy ground.
“Not exactly what I had in mind, but I guess it’ll do,” he grunted. He stared up at the window, finding it opened slightly. Finally, a bit of luck on his side. He managed to squeeze two fingers through the opening, and opened the window some further until the opening was wide enough for him to pass through. He did so moments later, after having restored the backpack to its original position. With only the softest of sounds he landed on Madeline’s wooden floor. He silently congratulated himself before taking the present with Madeline’s name on it from his backpack. It was square and wrapped in pink paper. He had a careful look through the room, spotting the girl herself on a bed to his left, deeply asleep. He wondered briefly where he should put the present – weren’t presents supposed to be left beneath the christmas tree, after all? – then noticed the tiny pink tree near the door and breathed a sigh of relief. He placed the present beneath the tree, relocating some Barbies in order to make room. He took a step back and approvingly observed the fruits of his hard work. One down, a dozen more to go. And at this rate it was going to take all night. Gabriel glanced at his watch, cursed softly and made his way towards the window.

He didn’t get very far. A sharp pain shot through his bare left ankle, and when he looked down to see what caused it, he saw a tiny lapdog munching on his foot. Dammit, what was up with these dogs? He shook his foot fervently, hoping to get rid of the animal. The dog clung to his ankle desperately, not willing to let go. What was worse, it was starting to growl too. He glanced at Madeline’s bed worriedly. The girl was still asleep, but it was only a matter of time. The dog sunk his teeth a bit further into his leg.
“Oh no doggy, not happening.” He bent down and pulled at the dog with all his might – until the animal finally let go. They both flew aside, the dog taking a piece of his jeans with them as he did so. The hyperactive little beast was up quicker than Gabriel could’ve imagined him to be able to, and looked as though he was about to go all wild on him. The dog opened his mouth to bark, but Gabriel interrupted him.
“Quiet. Go back to sleep.” There was something about his voice that wouldn’t allow any protests. The dog made a tiny sound, then went back to his place on the rug next to Madeline’s bed. Gabriel left the house the same way he came in, slipping through the window and closing it behind him again. He jumped off the roof at the lowest point, and had a soft landing in the thick snow. The larger dog was still knock-out, and Gabriel used the situation to his advantage so he could escape unnoticed.

Only when he was out of the street and away from Madeline’s house did he allow himself to stop running and catch his breath. He took the list from his pocket, crossed out the first name with a grey pencil, and set out for his next victim. He continued delivering presents all night, getting better and better at it as he went along. Once more he was disturbed by a dog, but he managed to escape without sacrificing his other shoe. Finally, when the first light was starting to appear and the sky coloured a dark orange-purple, he was finished. His left foot was sore and scratched, and he felt exhausted, but nonetheless very accomplished. He fought his way through the heavy snow back to his apartment in the center of town, dumped his coat and backpack near the front door, and opened the door to his bedroom. The curtains were still closed and so the room was a peaceful oasis of darkness. The only things Gabriel could make out in the dark were the red digits of his alarm clock and the eyes of the cat. He ungraciously let himself fall onto the broken bed and rubbed his eyes.

“Well, am I glad to be home again,” he told the cat.
“Are you now?” a female voice inquired, a hint of evilness to the simple words. Gabriel shot up and flicked the light switch, knocking the alarm clock off the low table as he did. She was sitting on the chair near his desk, brown eyes coolly observing Gabriel. She was wearing a simple black dress and there was a pair of black trainers on her feet. Her dark brown hair was tied back into a ponytail. The big black cat was sitting on her lap, looking quite content.
“Pandora...” He quickly got up from the wrecked bed. “Such a nice surprise to see you here.” He attempted a nervous smile. Pandora wasn’t fooled.
“Keep your lies to yourself, Gabriel.” She shoved the cat off her lap and got up. “You’re not happy in the least to see me here.”
“So, what brings you here?” he quickly changed the subject. Pandora raised one dark eyebrow.
“Why, Gabriel. Good of you to ask.” Her thin lips curled into a smile that meant nothing good. “God is displeased. Very much so. It seems you failed to obey his direct orders.”

“Ah well,” he quickly interfered. “You see, I was asked to help someone out, and you know what they say about refusing help. You see, I was about to –”
“I am not interested in the how or why, Gabriel.” She licked her lips. “I am simply here to take you back to Heaven where you shall receive your punishment.”
“Alright then, I shall come with you. Just give me a moment to pack my things.” Pandora looked slightly alarmed by his sudden eagerness to come along, but before she was able to remark on it Gabriel had pulled open the curtains and hopped out of the window.

“See, Gabriel, the North Pole isn’t half bad,” Santa remarked in his low voice. They were sitting at a low wooden table in Santa’s kitchen, sipping hot chocolate.
“Compared to Pandora everything is fantastic,” he replied dryly. “Which doesn’t take away the fact my toes are freezing and my head hurts like there is no tomorrow.”
“You’ll get used to those frozen toes,” said the old man cheerily. “Try and be a bit more positive. It’s Christmas, after all.” Gabriel sighed, and almost choked on his hot chocolate.

Nestled comfortably in front of the warm fire in a tiny appartment in London, was a huge black cat. His eyes were closed and if you hadn’t known better, one could’ve said there was a smirk on his face.

7  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Pictures / Lets Play The Fugly Game!!! on: August 01, 2008, 08:45:06 pm
Rofl... I don't know if I should bleach my eyes or continue laughing. xD

Must try this for myself.

... in the morning.

EDIT:

Well, here's Fugly... Beautiful as always... o.o

She had twins with some random townie. They both turned out horrendous.

Handsome was the least ugly of the two, so I grew him into an adult.

And figured it was about time I threw in some genes of my own sims.

They had twins.

Don't let above picture fool you, Snow is awfully ugly. @.@

Rose was sort of okay as an adult.

And that's as far as I got, since the game kept crashing when she was about to give birth. After three times I got fed up trying. xD

EDIT 2:

Since Rose was obviously a dead end, I made Handsome have another kid with this lady.

That resulted in Cloud. Now Cloud suffers from freaky eyebrows of doom.

I aged him up a little, and he had a kid with another random sim. Meet Beauty. Unfortunately she inherited the eyebrows of doom.

I grew her into an adult.

Then she had a kid with some random sim. When I saw Heaven, I was quite confident I'd never be able to breed the fug out.

But then her kid Light came along. I have no idea how I managed to breed the eyebrows out, but that's okay.

Light was quite handsome.

But I wasn't finished yet, so I threw in my love Romulus.

This resulted in Shine.

At this point, I managed to breed the fug out. But Shine had a huge nose, so I went on for one more generation.

I threw in Holly.

And then Morning came.

Now, look me in the eye and tell me she's not pretty. xD

Nose is all normal, too.

It took a long long time, but I managed. Might have got there faster if Rose had cooperated.

EDIT 3: Hm, I think I might as well have stopped at Light. So, at 6 generations, the fug was gone. At 8 generations, the sim was the way I wanted her to be.

Strange none of them inherited Fugly's lips... And lol at Fugly having no nose and Shine having a huge one. xD

9  Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / Unexpected ~ Sequel to Murdered with Love ~ Chapter Thirteen on: July 20, 2008, 04:39:18 am
Here's the last chapter, after this only the epilogue is left... ^^

Chapter Thirteen – I love you

“Look mom, it’s snowing again!” the girl squeaked excitedly. The white snow started to fall on her black hair, leaving white spots behind.
“I know, nice sight, isn’t it?”
“You know mom, today we built a snowman at school!” The two walked around the corner, entering a smaller street. All the houses were decorated in Christmas style, even though Christmas was still weeks away. All faces glowed with excitement. Maybe there would be a white Christmas after all.

“That’s great honey, was he big?”
“Enormous!” The girl skipped over the pavement. She suddenly stopped at a certain shop. Her little face got a serious expression. “Mom, do you think Santa Claus would give me that bear if I am a really good girl?” The woman laughed. The bear in question had actually been hidden in a wardrobe for several months already.
“I’m sure he’ll bring that present if you’re a good girl.” They left the street and crossed the road. Nearly home.

“Mom?” the girl continued.
“Yes?”
“Julie said Santa Claus doesn’t exist. Is that true?” She looked up.
“No dear, that’s not true. As long as you believe in Santa Claus, he’s there.” The girl seemed happy with this answer and slid her hand into the woman’s.
“Is dad home already?”
“I think so. Let’s go and find out.” The woman started to run. The child grinned and followed shortly.

Heavily panting they reached their destination. In front of one of the identical houses they finally stopped. Just when the woman wanted to open the door, it was thrown open. A man ran down the steps.
“Val, they’re here!” He seized the girl’s wrist and pulled her in the car.
“Who’s here?” the child asked surprised. Instead of answering Val closed the door of the car and jumped in too.
Where are they, Alex?” she hissed. He started the car.
“Locked in the bathroom,” he whispered. “It’s just a matter of minutes.” Way faster than the speed limit they rode out of the street.
Who is locked in the bathroom, mum?”
“No one is locked in the bathroom, Sarah.”
“But dad said he had locked them in the bathroom!”
“He was just kidding.”
“Where are we going, mom?”
“To aunt Felicia,” Alex replied. “You’ll be staying with her for some time.”
“That’ll be fun,” she commented, somewhat more comforted. “When will you come back?”
“We don’t know yet,” Val answered.

Alex stopped the car in front of a small house. They quickly left the car.
“But mom, won’t I need any clothes?”
“Aunt Felicia will get you some new.” A woman slightly older than Val opened the door.
“They’re here Felicia.” The woman simply nodded. They both hugged the girl.
“We’ll be back soon, love.”
“I’ll wait here, then,” Sarah simply replied. Felicia got hold of her hand as Val and Alex hurried back into the car.

*****

It tore my heart apart to leave my own daughter behind, and soon my vision was blurred with tears.
“She’ll just be fine, Val.”
“I know.” Just when we were nearing the edge of the town a police car appeared behind us.
“They’re getting fast,” Alex simply mentioned. He observed them in the mirror. “They were just on routine. These aren’t the kind of guys they use to follow people.”
“So that’s good?”
“No, that’s bad. Means there’s another team on the way.” He abruptly pulled the steering wheel right and I was being thrown against the car.
“Are we sure they’re following us?” Alex laughed.
“Seeing as you’re probably the only murderer around, I’d say yes.”

It slowly started to get dark, and the police car was still following us. Even worse, there were three of them now.
“When will they stop Alex? When they run out of fuel?”
“No, they don’t give up that easily. Any moment now one of them-” He didn’t get any further, when one of the police cars bumped into the side of our car. Tightening his hands around the steering wheel, Alex managed to get rid of the car. Soon after however the two other cars drove each on a side, and one of them was behind us. No way but straight forward.

“Are they going to make us stop?”
“In a way, yes. But I’m afraid we are past the friendly stage, if there ever was one.” A form doomed up in front of us. Because of the snow and darkness I had been unable to see it before. It was some sort of fence at the side of the road. The police cars continued to guide our car. And in front of us, the fence was still getting closer and closer.

“We’ll drive against it!”
“No, we will drive through it,” Alex corrected me. “See that forest? My guess is that we hit the third tree from the left. And you know as well as I that this time there will be no coming back.”
“How can you stay calm like that! We’re about to die!”
“Well,” he just said. “It doesn’t really matter anymore, now does it?”
That moment we fully hit the fence. The car made a loud noise and the window simply broke into a thousand small pieces of glass. But like Alex said, we went straight through it, continuing our way to the trees. The police stayed behind, but we already had too much speed to stop the car in time. There were no flashbacks this time, nor regret for what I did. Just happiness for the life I had lived.

“Val?” Alex asked calmly.
“Yes?”
“I love you.” Then there was a giant BANG and after that nothing but darkness.

I'm sorry for not updating in forever. Here are chapter 11 and 12. Excuse the crappy pics.

Chapter Eleven - Sorry

"Don't you ever feel sorry?" Alex picked up a branch and poked in the fire. We were camping in the forest, since Alex didn't want to take the risk people would recognise us. Believe me, by now our faces are all over the television, he had said.
"Feel sorry for what?" He lifted his eyebrows and continued staring at the fire.
"For what you did."
"And what did I do?" His expression changed to something I recognised as disbelief.

"Well, you know... Those people you killed? You can't have murdered them all without feeling anything. That's impossible, right?" It was my turn to stare at the fire. Did I feel anything? Did the faces of the people I killed haunt me in my sleep? Was I accompanied by guilt all the time? Or was I indeed a monster without feelings?
"I don't know." We both sat in silence for a moment.
"Well... We can't change what happened." Alex rubbed his chin. I noted he was starting to develop a beard.

"We can't indeed. I'm not sure I would change anything at all, even if I could. What I... what I did is part of me. Take it away and I wouldn't be the person you're now talking to." Alex sighed.
"Maybe that would have been better."
"Of course that would have been better. But we both know that's not what happened."
"I know. But what I've been wondering the past five years, is why you started killing. Why did you pick that man that night? By accident? Or did you have it planned? Maybe it was fate?"
"He... He owed me."
"He owed you? Whatever that man possibly did made you kill him?"

"Yes."
"Did he deserve it?"
"I think so." Alex sighed once more.
"The boy, why the boy? No, don't tell me he stepped on some flowers. You nearly killed Danielle yourself."
"She started it."
"Come on Val! Take some damn responsibility! You're a grown up woman, for god's sake! You can't keep blaming it on Danielle!"
"I know, Alex! Okay, what I did was wrong, but please, it's enough now! I know I will be punished, but just quit reminding me!"
"Sorry. You're right. You didn't do anything wrong in the past five years. I just wish I could change what happened."
"I wish that too. Goodnight, Alex."
"Goodnight, Val."

Chapter Twelve – Changes

The brightest daylight woke me up from a dreamless sleep. I slowly got up, my unwilling body still stiff after a night on the cold ground. I noticed the tiniest layer of frost on the grass surrounding me. It was really getting colder. Alex was already awake, rubbing his hands together.
“If you’re cold, why don’t you go sit in the car?” I asked him.
“I would,” he answered. “Except that I lost the car keys.”
“That’s right. I took them.” I threw the keys in Alex’ direction. Being the blind and barely awake guy he was, he missed them by more than ten centimetres. They reached the ground two metres behind him, and he kneeled to search them.

After little more than a minute a triumphantly smile appeared on his face and he opened the door.
“Where are we going, actually?” I asked as soon as we were both installed in the car.
“Not sure. Somewhere warm, in any case.” He fastened his seat belt.
“And how were you planning on getting there unnoticed and without any money?”
“Who said there was no money?” Alex started the car.

*****

“Once more, what exactly are we doing here?” I watched the nearly two metres tall man pick up an extremely sharp looking pair of scissors.
“We are letting these people do their jobs, which is changing our faces.”
“You know, I don’t feel very comfortable with this.” The man now dropped at least a dozen bandages on the low table next to my head.
“No need to worry,” Alex voice sounded normal, but I noticed from the corner of my eye that his face was definitely more pale than normally. Then the man went over to the surgery table Alex was lying on. He injected something in Alex’ arm and three seconds later he passed out. The man came my way. Oops, my turn.
“I want you to count back from ten.” I wasn’t at all sure whether I wanted to go out with this tree-like man, but what choice did I have? The man injected the same thing in my arm.
“Ten.” My arm started to feel weak. “Nine.” It slowly spread through the whole of my body. “Eight.” I noticed I was starting to breathe slower. “Seven.” My eyelids were so heavy. The last thing I saw before I closed my eyes was the giant reaching for his pair of scissors. Oh god.

*****

The sound of a conversation woke me up again. I tried to open my eyes, which was harder than expected. I lifted one hand and felt the area around my eyes. There were stitches everywhere. Oh my, what kind of monster have I become? I struggled to sit up. When I finally managed to open my eyes, I saw a slightly bewildered Alex stare into a small mirror. He looked up. The changes to his face were enormous. I barely recognised him. Still too shocked to say anything, he handed me the mirror. I observed my reflection.

“Crap.” When I had changed my hair colour five years ago it had already been a huge change, but this was simply, well, I didn’t have words for it. They even dyed my hair back to its original colour. Then I noticed something odd.
“My eyes changed color!”
“Yeah, I know.” Alex replied. The injected some sort of fluid into our eyes, and that changed the color. I continued to stare at the mirror.
“Well,” Alex said at last. “We better get going.”

Next chapter is the last one, after that there's only an epilogue left.
