1  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Makin' Magic Soundtrack... on: April 02, 2009, 05:04:17 am
Hi there
This may be a little dodgy to ask... but is anyone still playing Makin' Magic from sims 1 at this moment?
I need a few of the MP3s from that pack, but I dont really want to install everything just for that.

Could anyone help me with this?

Thanks for all the help... I did that, registered 4 separate GUIDs, and my saved object now shows up.
Now to work my way through all the tutorials Cheesy

Thanks so much, I did that, or rather tried... I decided to rather register for guids to be on the safe side...
And then cloned the TV I had in mind.
I still seem to be doing something wrong, because it still either replaces the original, or doesnt display at all.
I took some screens:









and my list of registered GUIDs:


Using the first GUID in the line (0x005B9100), right on the left, next to the blue 'get guid' link, clicking the box underneath, and clicking commit, for all 4 files in the OBJECTDATA list, doesnt seem to work.
Any ideas on what Im still missing?

Hi all,
Ive been recolouring items/objects for some time now, yet cloning is still eluding me.
Using SimPe, I get to the stage to clone, and save a new file -  but those clones 'overwrite' the original content, instead of creating a separate catalog item. All the tutorials Ive found so far are outdated ones from 2005 etc, and no longer supported (and none explain what I want to know).

I have no intentions of creating new meshes for the game.
  My idea is to take something like the giant TV that came with M&Gs or AL (dont remember), clone it, retexture it, and save it under a new name with a new price. Thats all. I still want the black original, only separate. There seems to be no tutorials that tell you how to make unique objects. Its all meshing or recolouring. And that doesnt help.

Could anyone help me with this?

Hi -

Would it be possible to make a mod to stop roaches from spawning for whatever reason? Or even exterminate them upon arrival?
I have all the Eps & packs installed.

In specific the evil witch spell that creates them, and the trashcan being knocked over are MAJOR peeves.
My idea is to basically "remove them from the game", even tho I know thats impossible, the closest possible to that would be great.

Hi all,
been a while since my last log in, never since the site relaunched, now I have a request Cheesy

Im looking for a mod that changes the silly spell names from AL into more descriptive names, so instead of 'aqua deletus' it would say 'delete puddles', 'tempus interruptus' -> 'freeze time', etc etc.

If anyone can help there, please assist

I came out of my Sims 2 remission to try my hand at the new textures from the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld.

The first of which are 3 sets of eyes.
* The Ori(ginal) package contains the base eye texture from Underworld,
* Flair is the UW eye, with a lens flare over it to make it more "realistic"
* Gray is just my personal project, overlapping the UW texture onto the existing Sims eye, resulting in this earthy grey.

These arent meant to be super realistic, so if thats what youre going for, you have been warned. They are just my personal tribute to TR:U.

*All credits for the texture to Eidos,
*Use at your own leisure, but if you want to credit me or this site etc, feel free

Im all for some new spells.
The ones from MM (yes i know..) seems to have been SO much better.
And the lack of atmosphere for witches in AL in general...miffy.
MM was way creepier. That would have been awesome to have in TS2. Ah well.

Spells: i was hoping for more EP related spells too, like some to change the weather, something\anything pets related, ability to change to and from cult characters... etc etc. They could have done SO much more.

ALso it peeves me that certain spells are only catered to certain alignments. So you can befriend a sim when you've learned a spell. Awesome. So then you decide to become evil (or as evil as the game allows you), and what...? you forget how to befriend? what kind of f-ery is this?
You work forever to FINALLY become evil, and you feel like teleporting to & fro. Suddenly one day youre not evil anymore. Thats...so...(no words).

Maybe EA is screwing with us. They just want to release another stuff pack full of the "real" spells and magic. So you'd pay them more to get dragons etc back. Actually..that does sound like something they'd do.

My experience with witches is... you cant learn 'the ways of the witch' from just any old witch. You have to befriend the ARCH witch of Good, Bad or Neutral.

For example.. a to become the FIRST nightlife vampire you can be bitten by anyone, and itll work.
To become the FIRST werewolf with pets, you can only get turned by the one 'leader' wolf, not just any old one.

It varies.
To make things easier if you dont wanna 'cheat', just have your witch-to-be sim meet the arch-witch of any orientation on a community lot. Befriend her. Then when the option arises, turn.

After that you can become good/bad/neutral, and youll have a controllable witch with the spell to turn any ole mortal sim into a witch too

I was kinda hoping the bookshelf thing would work in apartment blocks too. It seems rather pointless having it on residential lots.

I dont really like apartments. It seems a novel idea and all, but its just too much lagging and annoyance with building disabled.

Lagging: Yeah I get the blacking out of unused apts and that it supposedly frees up memory. But when you visit a neighbour their place becomes playable. Even after you leave it stays there. So say you visit 2-3 neighbours, all their apartments will STAY visible, and lag even more than a regular house. Thats my experience anyway.

Build Mode: Yeah... I get that too...greying out, since you cant really chop and change certain things in real life. But I find it annoying. They should have had an on/off button for it, instead of forcing us to enter buggy cheatcodes that wont work 99% of the time anyway. Because you didnt enter the right one. Because they have a million and one different ones to unlock different parts.

Its just too much of a hassle.
The Witch part however... FINALLY! Witches! The only cult characters I care to play with.
I have some issues with the spells tho but i guess I can live with them, or I hope mods will be created to make them more suitable.

No new jobs really. But if you have OFB you can make and sell reagents.
