16  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Updated for Apartment Life? on: September 10, 2008, 09:05:18 am
Okay this might be irrelevant, considering where we are, but I was glad to see the InSimenator updated for AL.
17  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What action or Animation you hate the most in sims2? on: September 10, 2008, 09:00:58 am

And of course when a sim who's a parent comes home and their kid (even if they have like eight things queued to do, they drop everything and run to go hug their mommy or daddy... and then u have to go back and re-queue every action.

I hate that too.
And when a kid gets a good report card, the tribal dance they do in front of any adult living in the house, causing said adult to cheer. Usually the unfortunate adult is in the pool or busy having a life, which gets put on halt to watch billy have a fit.

Also - i hate how when some sim needs to go to work, and youve got a queue of stuff to do already, the "go to work" action pops itself in right before the last action! Then you have to cancel it out, make sure the action gets done first and then go find the carpool vehicle and tell them to go to work again...a minor peeve. But still ANNOYING.  It could have been solved if they just queued properly.
18  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What do you find irritating in the sims? on: September 10, 2008, 08:52:34 am

Lol, all of the above, and the following one:

When my sims (with enough cooking skills) get hungry and they go off to prepare a meal because I haven't instructed them to - they keep making the darned lobster! That just freaks me out everytime. Cheesy

Ah, the old Lobster obsession... I hated that one!
These days I use a no auto cook mod. That fixed it. The one I have (from SimLogical) prevents all auto-cooking, so no more Lobsters everywhere. Sims can still feed themselves if they are about to starve tho. And you can direct them to cook whatever.

19  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Do you think sims need to lose weight? on: September 10, 2008, 08:41:15 am
I dont really mind the shapes. They are unrealistic, if you think about people in the street...most people are skinnier or fatter than that.
The fat morph (in game) is laughable.

But I think they tried to even it out as much as possible. Not extremely fat or thin or even average. Just like a mix of it all
20  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / what does everyone do on: September 10, 2008, 08:33:09 am
Delete. Delete. Delete.
But make sure you back up in case you want something (specific) back-

Treat it like your closet (in my case anyway Wink) If you havent worn/used something in a while, put it aside, out of the closet/downloads folder and just leave it. If you dont really miss it for a week, delete it.
Or put it on the charity pile (clothes Wink)
21  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / SecuROM is REALLY busting my chops. on: September 09, 2008, 03:22:19 am
Ive got SPORE now, Im not really caring too much, I mean, i got it for a unbeatable price.
3 Install limit? Thats disgusting.

Im not registering my game. and sure as HELL not going online with the game running. Hopefully that way EA can keep their claws and evil eyes off me. Why are we being treated like criminals?
Thats just BEGGING people to find illegal or cracked copies of their games online which have been stripped of SecuRom and the other bull to cut the crap.

Hey, if youre being treated like a pirate, might as well act like one, dont you think
22  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / ...is it true, NEW PETS? on: September 04, 2008, 10:07:15 am

I remember seeing a screencap of a witch sommoning a black cat. But without AL installed (I'm still waiting for some mods to be updated) I couldn't check. Anyone else try it?

Sorry to double post...
The black or white spectral cat is a cat you can summon with a bad or good witch. You need pets to make it work tho
23  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / ...is it true, NEW PETS? on: September 04, 2008, 10:06:08 am
Only 1 dog available in AL. Its much like the hamster from 'Pets'. You choose a breed etc as a colour option. It doesnt really do anything fun tho.

To get it, buy a pen for it.
Then Stock the pen.

I was hoping for snakes or iguanas myself. Ah well.
24  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Religious faith versus Non-conformist faith and the Sims 2 on: September 03, 2008, 03:19:25 am
To me it makes no difference having occult-ish characters in the game or not.
I was raised a "christian", but never really caught on to it. But I was always too afraid to let go of it, just in case it really is real and ill go to hell afterwards.

Ive always been interested in cultures and ancient history, Ive even got my own private library of books on the Ancient Romans, Egyptians, Greeks, Maya, Native Americans, Celts etc etc etc. And believe me, Ive read each one.

Interesting fact: All of them existed with strict rules on gods & sacrifice, people LIVED and BREATHED their gods, and even died for the honor of pleasing gods (when necessary). These people were just as fanatic believers as modern day scholars of religions.
They also had hundreds of years of belief.  Fought wars at times etc over it.

Nowadays people seem to think time began only 2000 years ago with the death of JC. When in fact its been going for THOUSANDS of years before that, and even THOUSANDS & MILLIONS of years before humans realized they were "special".  Everyone knows the earth was around for millions and millions of years. So its just weird IMHO to say that any religion is the BE & END ALL of humanity. That sounds like a very human statement to make.

Besides that, who is anyone with a set of beliefs to challenge anyone else's?
What proof do these people have to challenge?

I personally dont believe in a god/devil/heaven/hell. I just cant. Not after everything Ive sucked up. There is just too many different variants.
Besides, if a god is supposed to be flawless, why would he/she create a flawed religion that encourages people to go to war over their belief? That just messed up.

People NEED religion for some reason because they want something to cling to in times of need. The idea of an afterlife is soothing.

Anyways....this is going way-y-y-y-y off topic,
Im not even sure I really made my point clear.
MY OPINION: I dont believe in any specific deity. And i cant believe in a christian god that will condemn the millions of people BC (before christianity) to a hell to suffer eternally just because they had other religions back then before it was "invented".

I think religion is a tool used for the good or bad of society. People find salvation and soothing in it, and others try and exploit that to make those believers do what they want.

Over @ MTS2 there was a thread about the CEP, that causes certain (re)colours to disappear, like with the Ergo window. So its advised to choose whether you want colour options installed for CC, or play only with EA-Created stuff (no CEP) to get the missing colours back. Clicky

Also, InSim. Yes, as stated it does work alright - but the SIM edition gave me hassles with teleportation & the new teleport spell. With the SIM edition you cant use it. Not that you'll need to, since InSim teleported sims around way before EA did. Smiley

The OBJ edition is cool tho. Im (contently) using that until a update becomes available.
27  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / The Sims 3 (In Comparison) on: September 02, 2008, 09:23:17 am
To clear the air up a bit more about my 1st post:
I didnt intend to say that Oblivion or TR (for that matter) is the best games out there -I just used them as 2 examples of what else is available, in the endless sea of games. They are 2 I have experience in playing (not UNDERWORLD obviously, in general, and especially the CD created ones -since that gives a good idea of what you can expect of the new installment), so I needed some solid ground to place my soapbox on.

Also... TR...yes, I think the environment will be static. No shooting through tree trunks (ala crysis).  Oblivion: the environment is completely interactive. Food on plates, the plates themselves etc can be thrown around (by example.) You have to create buildings & environments to add into the game separately, or download new content if youre not creatively inclined. You cant choose to hang a painting where you want, just buy a set of ready made furnishings. Since Im not a modder I dont know the extent of customization, but ive seen some pretty awesome CC. BUT thats not the point...

What I tried to do is open it up for discussion, using my POV as an example. It might seem like it from the first post, but I wasnt planning to make my own opinion the sole purpose for this thread -and thanks to those who chimed in with their 2-cents worth Wink

I just want people who might want to buy TS3 to have a reference point. And I think if they read all the valid points people in this thread have highlighted, even the ones that contradict my own, that they'll make a better, informed decision, instead of just sheepishly falling into the same old grooves of "I MUST buy this because its sims related..."

But by all means, continue the discussion, maybe even my semi-set-in-stone opinion will become more favourable Smiley

There is also a hack @ sims2workshop that adds the 'rent furnished apartment' action to the regular menu without testing cheats.
30  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Apartment Life = Satantist? on: September 02, 2008, 08:53:42 am
Thats ridiculous -
and it discriminates against real life witches (wiccans etc) by calling them satanic.

Besides... those fanatics that bash "witches/wizards" like sims now, and harry potter etc -> I hope they dont read fairytales to their kids, or were read them as children. Since every fairytale would also be satanic by comparison.
I pity the fools.
