16  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: I'm I the only one who would rather just keep playing sims 2. on: August 16, 2009, 05:53:46 am
Well, I bought the game. Originally to tear it apart and it inturn swayed my opinion.

I have to agree with fglrxandyou for the most part about the Sims 3, though, I dont get the errors with the Sims 2. Nor do I particularly mind the load times. Considering how much stuff I run, it runs pretty fast.

But, for me, while Sims 3 is very good. Its also quite limited. I like what it has to offer, which has ALOT of potentiol. But, I miss the controllability that I had with the Sims 2. And I still hate how hard EA has made it to mod the game, whatever their reasons, be it money driven, which it likely is 100%, or to curve complaints over adult oriented material, that was just a plain idiotic move.

I am simply growing ever frustrated with being unable to play the game how I wish. That even though I have an Anti-Jealousy mod which enables my Sims to make out and this and that, they still get that blasted betrayal moodlet if they are anywhere on the lot if one Sim they love invites another to even cuddle in a bed. Let alone woohoo.

And I cannot breed Sims how I wish, or without using the Awesomemod, have more then 8 Sims on a lot. And the relationship interactions now, frankly, annoy me. I have never heard of someone being so turned on that they suddenly fall out of the mood. Which thats what happens.

Dont get me wrong, the game is quite good. But it can be better. And for me, it will be better once the thing has been completely busted open.

Or EA gets their heads on straight and reverse's this whole closed source Anti-Mod bussiness.

17  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Re: Sims left my neighborhood on: August 14, 2009, 08:28:40 pm
Ah nuts. Well, I guess I can just give it time.

If I just curve the mad scientist angle and use said method above, perhaps I wont have to worry about Sims leaving my neighborhood. And I can prevent loss of the 4 remaining Sims I dont wanna lose that I cant drag onto my active lot.

18  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Re: Sims left my neighborhood on: August 13, 2009, 09:56:18 pm
Huh, thanks. Thats an interesting method I havent considered. I should try that.

Any suggestions on how to increase the number of Sims I can have on a lot?

Yeah, I checked out Awesome Mod. But Awesome Mod sadly is too restrictive in terms of what it does for me.

Although its a very pardon the pun, awesome piece of work.
20  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Sims left my neighborhood on: August 11, 2009, 05:09:28 am
Okay, so, yeah, I bought the Sims 3, yadda yadda. Lets skip that shocker and get to the part where I need help please.

So, I was working on this family. My favored Sim had kids with 2 of the three women living there, one had triplets, the other twins. Yeah, mods for it were involved.

And I was working on the kids, force aging them due to having aging for the town off. And story progression off. And not wanting permenant infants there, especially because the AI cant take care of them.

And suddenly I get a message that they left town. How is that possible?, why?, I know the game is unpatched. But, oy vey.

I didnt save, and I wanna know if it will keep happening. And also if there is something I can do to prevent it.

I'm not sure I wanna get that patch, cause I've been reading that its really hard to install. And its been killing peoples games and mods.

Edit: Uh, nevermind. I did a good bit of research after posting this. Like, hours afterwards. And found my answer. That being if the neighborhood gets too full this will happen. So I corrected the problem by evicting a bunch of Sims. Course, this is crap. I dunno who thought this was a good idea in the first place. And I wish there was a mod to disable that.

21  Simmers' Paradise / Mac-Users Only Peer Support / Re: Is Seasons as difficult to get running as Pets is? on: July 05, 2009, 05:09:27 pm
I run all the expansions up to and including Seasons, with 4+ gigs of custom content.

I've never had a problem, except with under-powered PC's and bad graphics card's and the occassional ingame error or mod conflict.

But, I've patched every single game/expansion. From base game to Seasons.

Though, my Open for bussiness CD is NOT my first one. My original, never worked. I got a bum copy and I had to replace it. The second one worked.

Maybe if you say more of whats happening with your copy of Pets, y'know, the problem can be identified.

Correction-I'm sorry, I followed the link, I didnt see that this was the Mac section. I dont know anything about macs as I am a PC user. But, perhaps it has something to do with the versions.
22  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: Diabetes :( on: July 04, 2009, 04:57:20 pm
I'm diabetic, type 2. I was diagnosed at age 18. And roughly a month and 2 weeks ago I had to start taking Insulin.

First things first, what type does your boyfriend have?.

And secondly, dont panic!. It sounds like you are getting the Hemoglobin AIC, thats the overall picture of a 3 month period, which is rated in small numbers. Confused with actual blood sugar readings.

With an A1C rating, a normal non-diabetic reading can be upwards from 4.0 to even 6.0.

Human blood sugar readings spike up when you eat, and can look terrifying. You said his was 67 last night, well, thats kinda low. But, lets say the average blood sugar is 70-80, you eat, and it will go up to 120, 130. Hell, if you eat alot, it can go up even higher. Dependent on what you eat.

Also, the myth that you cant have sugar when you are diabetic, is just that. Its a myth. Its not a smart idea to munch a whole box of candy bars though.

Essentially, you can eat anything you want. You just have to take it all in moderation. And be careful, sucking down a whole bottle of pop is gonna suck. And really, make an appointment with an endocrinologist. They are diabetis specialists, and will know far more then any regular doctor will ever know. And if they suggest going on insulin. Take it.

Insulin, is not scary. The needles are tiny, and I dont even feel them. And when I needed to go on insulin, I was in horrible shape. I probably needed to go on it 3 years ago. But I was terrified. And nobody showed me what I was dealing with until I went to the Endocrinologist. And since I have been on Insulin, I have my youth back. I feel like I'm 21 again, maybe even 18. Its hard to say.

But do have your boyfriend go see an endocrinologist, it will be better for him in the long run. And they will nail EVERYTHING down fast.

Correction- I may have misread the one thing you said. The A1C may have been 6.7. Which means, yeah, he's diabetic, but the levels are not overall bad. I've had A1C's that have been 12 and 13. Which is dangerous.

And mind you, A1C tests can only be done in labs. Blood Sugar readings can be done manually. But A1C tests are wholly different.
23  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: July 03, 2009, 06:04:03 pm
And this is why some time ago I said

"And exactly WHY havent we busted out the torches and the pitchforks yet?"

Well, I plan to get the Sims 3, but only because I have to see how bad it is for myself. And tear it apart inch by inch.

24  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Pregnancy issues. on: June 20, 2009, 03:17:42 pm
In all the time that I've been breeding Sims I've noticed that the genetics program works just like how people work. In other words, on the surface, some Sims are just prone to having babies of a particular gender more then the other. I'm sure its much more complicated then that.

I've had quite a few that just pump out boy after boy after boy. And some that have had nothing but girls. And even if I pair a constant boy and girl spawner together, the odds dont seem to change all that much.

Though I have heard that if you save before a Sim is to go into labor. Not during of course. And you dont like the results, you can exit to the neighborhood without saving, come back, and try again. And you MIGHT get a baby of the opposite gender. And if you dont, wash, rinse and repeat until you do.
25  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: What do you find irritating in the sims? on: June 16, 2009, 09:25:41 am
I'd say, at least for me currently.

1. Visiting Sims that always want to water balloon fight at night. And cant take a clue, forcing me to make them leave or cuddle on a couch with one my Sims.

2. The random congradulation's of a pregnant sim. And I dont mean from different Sims. I mean from the SAME Sim's. Over and over again.

"Oh, your pregnant, congradulations" *Five minutes later* "Oh, your still pregnant, congradulations".

What the crap?, do they have the memory of a wicker basket or something?

Eh, thats all I can think of at present.
26  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: InSiminator Mod for Sims3 on: June 13, 2009, 03:16:53 am
Y'know, thats one thing I cant understand at all.

The sex animations I can KINDA understand despite much grumbling and annoyance and wanting to chuck bricks at EA. But the Insiminator is HARDLY a bad thing.

If anything it gives direct control to the player, and makes the game more fun because, at least for me, it takes away petty annoyances. Makes managing Sims in large numbers much easier. Makes getting around bugs and issues that were never fixed a sinch.

Hell, I dont have to even take my Sims to those god awful boring stores to get them clothing. I can just purchase them clothing at their homes, suit em up. And get back to playing my game my way.

So, yeah, I dont get why they are so against all mods. I mean, if they dont want people making the stuff, they should just make the game right in the first place instead of leaving it full of bugs and crap to begin with. And of course, listen to their customers. Which would lead to making MORE MONEY.

Seriously, whatever happened to the customer is always right?. I mean a happy customer is a loyal customer, and will always come back to buy more.

Pssh..Now that I think about it, they should take a lesson from Sims 2 Open For Business.
27  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Sims 2 Pregnancy Crashing Game on: June 11, 2009, 03:45:16 pm
Yeah, glad it worked out for you. Cause terminating the pregnancy, while it would have worked, there was a chance it could occur again if the child had the same parents as before.

At least, thats what I'm figuring. The Sim that I had this problem with never experianced a repeat of this problem once I got the Insim and the Inteen. So I dunno.
28  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: How do lesbians have babies in TS3? on: June 11, 2009, 07:20:20 am
A-sexually reproducing Sims...AMAZING, BRILLIANT, worthy of my mad science experiments, if only it could be controlled and prodded and studied.  Evil

Seriously, thats-a-not good. If I ever got this game, I'm gonna expect to see a baby standing on a street corner at 3AM, not scared or anything.

And then I'll shift the camera, and there will be another one, and then another one, and then another. And then it will be attack of the Sim toddlers. Chanting "Goo Goo Gah Gah EA!"
29  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Thinking about an upgrade.. on: June 11, 2009, 07:12:54 am
Well, I suppose that would be a very good PC. Aside from being cursed with Vista   Sad

But I dont really know much about Multi-Core PC's.

I know enough about AMD's because I've had my Gaming PC for 2 years, almost 3 this december and its awesome aside from being itself cursed with Vista. Though I do have a graphics card in it similar to that ones if not almost exactly the same. And so far its run pretty much everything just fine.

But if you get into Team Fortress 2 like I do, you will need to get updated drivers for it. Otherwise the game will chug like a couch potato on a treadmill going up hill. But not Left 4 Dead for some odd reason. Which is even more odd cause both are made by Valve, and L4D is much newer then TF2.

Oh, you may want to check around for Vista 64's compatibility with your games. I know 32 Bit Vista is compatible with all my Sims 2 games up to and including Seasons for sure, but Vista 64 has had a nasty rep for being incompatible with various games that the 32 bit version is compatible with. And I dont know if they ever did anything about that.

30  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Thinking about an upgrade.. on: June 11, 2009, 05:40:12 am
Well, you COULD buy a Barebones PC kit. Often they are only lacking a few things, like the OS. Or a fan. Depends on the kit. But they are cheap.

But they require a bit of tech savvy, or a friend who can put them together.

I recently bought a Barebones PC Kit from Tigerdirect.com, that, by the time I pay my one friend for the parts and labor when its ready this saturday. Will cost me roughly 430$.

And this PC is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+, with 4 Gigs of DDR2 Memory, an intial 320 Gig SATA HD. And other stuff. I forget the rest of its stuff at the moment, but it intially lacked a graphics card, a CPU fan and an OS.

But for the price, it cant be beat. Its a superior version of my Gaming PC. And I'll be able to upgrade it on my terms. I'll just have to get more HD's, a bigger power source, a better graphics card, etc.

So that may be the best route to go.
