16  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Why r Sims so stupid ? on: November 07, 2007, 04:11:09 pm
I love this thread. Smiley

I know this was mentioned before, but WHY is there such an obsession with babies and toddlers? When I want them to feed the kids or put them to bed on their own, or just play with them, they ignore them. But when the kid's energy is in the red, and I've directed them to put him in the crib, and he's trying to sleep, here they come again to drag the kid out of bed to...what? Put him on the freakin' FLOOR!! So you have them put the kid in the crib again, and here comes another one, to get him out. What's with that?? I've learned that I have to make sure to have another obsessive activity lined up for them like studying something or playing on the computer after they put the kid in the crib so that they're not bothering the poor exhausted thing five seconds after they put him to bed. Oh, and if you *don't* want them to put the toddler to bed because he needs to use the potty first -- there they are, lined up to pick him up. And I just keep canceling them, one by one, over and over. And yes, yelling at the game while I do it! "ARGHH!!! LET THE KID ALONE!!!"

And I hate that it's gotten to the point where I don't want to put a piano or other musical instrument in the houses I build because the sims never stop playing them if I have them there. I've already hacked my game to bits to stop them from the constant water balloon fights (in winter, no less), pillow fights, and the endless "red hands" competitions. Why do they get so obsessed with certain activities? It's so annoying!

And yes, I hate the nannies. The first sim I ever purposely killed was a nanny because she never did anything other than hang around in the hot tub all day in her disgusting saggy swimsuit. She was totally useless.

Which brings me to the gardeners -- the female ones seem to uniformly suck. They don't do half the things that need to get done, and a few times I've had them come to one of my lots and go, "Your plants are in beautiful condition! No need for me today!" or some such thing, and there are WEEDS all over the place! That's when they aren't whining or yelling, "Earlagonda!!" because something isn't where they think it should be.

I hate the Sims. So why am I so addicted?
17  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Sim Romance and Changes on: October 27, 2007, 12:51:19 pm
I hope you don't mind if I chime in here: I'm so interested in this whole process because I've only had Nightlife for about two months and have seen some interesting interactions in the romance department since installing it.

For example, I've had several instances where one sim seems obsessed with another, with hearts madly floating all around everytime she's near him, and her constantly following him around seeking interactions...despite the fact that he's gay and in their relationship panels there are no "sparks" between them whatsoever.

And my very favorite sim, who was one of the first born in the game for me, was quite the horndog in college and never seemed to settle for any one female until I accidentally apparently created his ideal dreamgirl after he graduated.

I've never seen a faster interval from "meet" to "want to get engaged" (on both sides, actually) in all the time I've been playing. Their three lightning bolts have never changed as they have for some of my other coupled sims, and eight children later, and another on the way (I have the casual romance hack installed and they can't stay off each other, it seems), they're still fluttering their hearts like crazy and still filling each others' want boxes to the exclusion of everything else.

It kind of makes me laugh, and yet I find it fascinating as well. Why are they so crazy about each other? He's never even thought about any of his past females (and there were a LOT of them he was "in love" with!) since he met her.

So I find your comments really interesting, beosboxboy, especially about the buggy nature of the game and how it affects those interactions. All I know is that I haven't been able to reproduce that kind of pairing in the game even when I've tried by looking at signs and aspiration compatibility and such. So maybe it is just the bugs after all? Smiley

I've finally had a chance to download Jake, and he's absolutely spectacular, trl! Thanks so much for sharing him!

You should be very, very proud of your artistic skills, and I'm really looking forward to more of your creations to use in my game. Smiley

This is my first ever post on this site, but can I second (or third) the request for you to upload your other Sims, too? You do gorgeous work!
