1  Simmers' Paradise / Anecdote Assistance / An idea... on: November 25, 2008, 08:28:32 pm
Yes, I want brutal. Like, completely, honestly, painfully brutal.

Okay, so I'll change the gold eyes - the main reason I was using those was because they came in pretty much every shade from gold to black, which was really useful.

-Really? You like 'em? I was pretty proud of Alice, to tell you the truth.
-Rosalie, like I said, I know that she's hideous. The problem is that we've got almost no description of her in the books - I mean, Edward's face we get in detail; Esme has a heart-shaped, soft face and looks like "Snow White in the flesh;" Alice is "pixie-like" and has "tiny features;" Carlisle is more gorgeous than any movie star, and we get a little about his appearance. With Rosalie, though, the best description we get is that she has "../a beautiful figure, the kind that you saw on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit addition..." and "Her hair was golden, gently waving to the middle of her back." I admit that I tried like ten premade sims trying to get her face right. Well, I;ll work on her.
-Yeah. Curly hair. Any suggestions as to where I can find good, fairly realistic, curly hair for guys?
-Edwards jaw, huh? I see what you mean. Does he look alright otherwise?
-You liked Jasper? Come on now, I asked for brutal honesty. Smiley

You left out Carlisle and Esme. Were they really that unspeakably hideous? Lol. And no, you weren't being too mean. Like I said, I want mean. Well, maybe not mean, but comepletely honest. Thanks for helping. Smiley

Okay, well I used Delphy's Download Organizer, and found out that I had a ton of hacks that weren't compatible with either each other or AL or FT. I ran the game after that, and CAS worked fine, but I haven't had time to try and load a lot yet. I'll get back to you once I try that.

Okay, well, sorry it took me so long - although I'm pretty sure no one was really waiting - but I just installed FT and AL and my game went INSANE!!! So, now that I've got it fixed, I want to show everyone the sims I'm planning on using before I type up the first chapter. That and I'm kind of stalling, because my friend's borrowed my book. So, any criticism would be helpful. Please be very brutal, I want these to look good, and I'm not particularly skilled at making attractive sims. So without further ado, I give you:

Carlisle

Esme

Edward

Rosalie

Emmett

Alice

Jasper

Bella

I know that Emmett, Rosalie, and Jasper are absolutely hideous, but I think I did fairly well on everybody else. Criticism? Please?

Okay, well, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, because I installed AL and FT at the same time, and that's when the problems started, but I figure it's worth a shot.

So, a few days ago I installed AL and FT. When I started playing, I wasn't able to load any families. The loading screen would appear, with the picture of the family and everything, the rows of pictures would all become hilighted, etc. But then the screen would just stay that way permanently - the family would never load. I let it sit for over an hour and still nothing.

So I quit the game, removed all my CC, and tried again. Same problem as before. Then, I created a new family and moved them into an apartment. Same problem as before.

When I got on the game again - with my CC - and tried to create a new family, the CAS screen went crazy!!! I created two sims with no problem, but when I tried to create the third, the sim was invisible. She only became visible after I went to cancel her. Even after she was visible, though, I still couldn't zoom in. Next, I finished her and tried to create another sim, but there was still this dark outline of the first sim, and the entire screen was really shadowy. So, I'm having a bunch of problems with my game, and I'd really, really like to be able to play it again. Any help at all would be really appreciated.

Here are some pictures so you know what I mean:

This sim was, for some unfathomable reason, standing in the corner of the room and spinning.

Invisible sim.

Weird shadowy sim.

Yeah, that website's actually where I got the idea. Smiley It was made with the Sims 1, I think. I'll post somre pictures of the sims I'm planning on using soon. I just want to go through and figure out where all the custom content came from and double check that I didn't violate anybody's policies by recolouring a skin.

I guess I didn't do a very good job of explaining it. That's my bad. It'd be more like, as someone said earlier, a tribute than a story. What I'd do would be pick what I considered the most important parts of a chapter - like five or six of them, somewhere in there - take a picture or two to go with it, and then type of a brief quote. So, I might take a picture of Edward and Bella kissing and then underneath it say something like: My soft lips formed around his cold stone ones... Obviously that's not an exact quote, but one of my friends is borrowing my book, lol. It might actually fit better in the pictures forum than this one, but it's kind of borderline, so I'm not sure...

Okay, well I've actually gotten around to creating the sims and everything, but there's one thing I'm not sure about: Is there any accepted etiquette when it comes to using CC in a picture? Should I ask the creator of every object that appears in every photo if it's okay? Or should I just link back to them? Or what? Thanks, and sorry if I'm being dense. Smiley
8  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Help With Making Clothing on: November 02, 2008, 06:12:03 pm
Oops. I didn't even know this section existed. *looks around* I really need to get out of the RP'ing section more...

Miros, thanks, that helped a lot. I was able to make my outfit and it actually looked almost halfway decent. Smiley
9  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Help With Making Clothing on: November 01, 2008, 08:58:31 pm
Hi. Cheesy I want to know how to make clothes out of body meshes. I know how to recolour, but that's the extent of my clothing-making knowledge. I want to make one of my teen sims look bodybuilder-y, but there's only a few good outfits out there that do this, and I want something specific. So, I'd like either instructions or a link to a tutorial or something that'll help me learn to make clothing from just the body meshes. Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is a stupid request. Smiley
10  Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / Unseen {Chapter 3: The First Cross Over} on: September 28, 2008, 07:12:08 pm
Ooh, it's really good so far. I love stories like this. I bet the girl was someone who loved him, but he didn't love her, and now she's all jealous and stuff. You did ask for us to point out spelling and grammar mistakes, so you should know that in Chapter Two, in the third paragraph, you typed 'your' when it should be 'you're.' Other than that I didn't notice any mistakes. Nice job, Alice! Smiley

Well, it turned out it was... actually I have no idea what was causing it. But I got it fixed. Cheesy I just used system restore and it's all better! Yay!
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims Crashes On Startup - Help Please!! on: August 19, 2008, 05:23:45 pm
I haven't played the Sims in probably two weeks. When I started it up today, the very first screen appeared, the square white one that says The Sims 2 Seasons Expansion Pack. Then, a window popped up that read, 'Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphic adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate.' I'm not exactly sure what this means, but I haven't tampered with any files or anything, and no one else in my family really gets on the computer. The only custom content I've downloaded since I last played is a bunch of clothing. Does anyone know how to fix this? Help is greatly appreciated. Smiley
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / helpful hint about college on: August 09, 2008, 09:49:26 pm
One of my sims had a baby in college - she actually got pregnant when she was a teenager, although I didn't realise it at the time. What I did was use the InSIMenator to subtract one day from the baby's life each day at seven PM. Once it was time for the parents to leave college, I had them move out. Once they were settled in a lot back in their old neighbourhood, I summoned the baby and then used the Teleporter Shrub to add him to the household. It worked fine, but I still wouldn't reccomend having a baby in college, as the parents couldn't go out, the nanny wouldn't stay unless made selectable, and no schoolbus showed up in the mornings.
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Really confused with the familyfunds cheat on: August 08, 2008, 11:30:38 pm
Yes, they do. If you put quotation marks around the name. So for St. John, it'd be familyFunds "St. John" 100000. Or whatever amount.
15  Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / Hot Tub Problems... on: August 07, 2008, 10:47:59 am
It may not be just Freetime. That's all my sims do any more, and I only have up to Seasons. Lol, it's really funny looking in high speed, it just looks like they're rocking back and forth.
