You don't need to install a hack.
Just add these 3 lines to your userstartup.cheat file:
uintProp maxTotalSims 50 uintProp maxTotalHumans 35 uintProp maxTotalPets 15
remember to type these 3 cheats in before you load a house, too (or it will crash).

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / This laptop good for sim 2 and sims 3?
|

Yes, Vista uses 1gb of RAM when it is only idling at the desktop. I would recommend 3gb or more for Vista gaming.
I strongly suggest you buy a desktop for any type of modern gaming. Laptops are more expensive and do not provide as much power as a good desktop will. Though the laptop you selected is a decent system and will run the Sims 2 fine. You may need to raise your budget to get a decent graphics card though.
The specs are not out for the Sims 3 yet. I would wait until EA releases them before you buy a new system.

You mean in the catalog or CAS screens? If you delete a file from there, then yes, it is permanently deleted from your Downloads folder.
Now, if you were remodeling a house and decided you did not want a certain couch or something, then no, the couch is still in the Downloads folder.
You have to click on the little trash can in the corner to permanently delete a file from ever showing up in the game anywhere.

Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Help, Only One lot Crashes while Loading
|

Did the crashing occur previously to installing a new expansion or after?
I have one suggestion, irregardless: 1) Package the lot to a file 2) Use clean installer and install only the lot 3) Enter the game 4) Turn on testingcheats and enter the lot without a family (if you can) 5) I would then click on every item and see if the debugger notices any conflict and delete them
If the former steps work, you should then move the family out your old lot and into the new one

Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / Freetime Crash Issues

For those suffering this issue: do you have 2gb or more of RAM?
Also, when the game crashes is the memory usage for the game itself around 1.6gb? If so, it could be a memory leak.

Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Sims stuck in place!

I agree with Tenshi.
I had this same issue on an owned community lot.
Turn on testing cheats.
Then click on every item in your apartment. If the file is corrupt, a window will popup asking whether you want to delete the item from your apartment. You have to click on every item in every apartment you own. It may take a while, but it will more then likely work. I would delete any corrupt items I can find until time starts ticking again.
