76  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Story Progression - what is it? on: June 14, 2009, 10:00:24 pm
lol That about sums it up.

Sims 3 is not "an improved version of Sims 2" -- it's a tasteless rpg.
77  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Sims 3 biggest launch in EA history on: June 13, 2009, 08:16:29 pm
lol Nalia, I guess I needed that Superstar

Sims are my soap opera. If I can't have that, bye bye.

Yep. That's what drew me into the game, too. And with families just moving out randomly in Sims 3 no way i can achieve that.
78  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Sims 3 biggest launch in EA history on: June 13, 2009, 12:40:23 pm
The game looks good, but at the core, the gameplay is boring. I don't know why EA spent more effort into making the scenery look good as opposed to making the gameplay amusing. It's just odd and a waste.

This game really isn't a simulation that can keep you playing for 4+ years, it's a RPG that's conquered in a month and forgotten about. I will not accept this abomination as Sims 3. I spent half a year waiting for this game, only to be severely disappointed. angry

Abaris, are you referring to Crysis by chance? I remember most couldn't play the game on Medium or High too well.

But I agree with the general tone of the thread--EA needs to quit cutting corners. All we need is a good people simulator to wipe EA off the map one day. I hope that day comes soon enough.

80  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Fat, plastic looking sims 3...? Missing something? on: June 11, 2009, 03:42:11 pm
I can argue about Sims 2 sims looking better than Sims 3 looking better right out of the box. The ones from Sims 3 look like some demented cartoon from a Pixar animator gone mad after sniffing too much airplane glue. Nobody in a town full of people has the exact same chipmunk cheeks and dead looking eyes, there is a scad of genetic differences even in families. For me, Sims 3 is nothing but a big bunch of fail, but that's my opinion.

I agree Paden.

And that's what's been bugging me and I only now realized--it's the cheeks and eyes that make them all look alike. I knew it was something but couldn't put my finger on it. Chipmunk is a fitting term, too.

That was a good translation! Were you a chatspeaker in a previous life? lol
82  Simmers' Paradise / Objects & Recolors / Re: powered wheelchair (mesh almost done - creator help needed) on: June 06, 2009, 09:06:48 pm
Personally, I would not mind animating this chair for you. Especially since it's a seat, I don't have to worry about a slot file. I could probably attach a new Pie String that will make the wheels spin (are they in a separate group?) and the chair movie to where the user directs it to.

lol I've always wanted an animated wheelchair O.o

lol Paden. But they could be from another country...
84  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Give it a chance on: June 06, 2009, 06:48:49 am
Sims 2 was a huge 3-D improvement and deeper gameplay from Sims 1, not just the graphics. I am actually quite satisfied with Sims 2 at the moment. And I think I have better things to spend my $60 on (like lunch at Red Lobster and Mass Effect 2).
85  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: The sims 3, What do you think? on: June 05, 2009, 07:28:26 pm
Teren_Rox, I totally agree with you.
86  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Lets Play Nice About Sims 3 on: June 05, 2009, 07:23:37 pm
Some people are just frustrated about Sims 3 at the moment. It's natural to vent about something until the "I've been ripped off" nagging goes away. I personally don't think I'll play the game until at least a year or more has passed.
87  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: I'm I the only one who would rather just keep playing sims 2. on: June 05, 2009, 12:25:08 am
I don't think even the modding community could fix the bad gameplay.
88  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: I'm I the only one who would rather just keep playing sims 2. on: June 04, 2009, 08:26:32 pm
If you ask me, many reviewers and editors tend to play nice with specific gaming companies... partially due job security and ad revenue rather than give a bluntly honest review, which would put a negative impact on how the game would sell, and in turn have the gaming company actually bite back at times.  A prime example of what I'm talking about:  Jeff Gerstmann of Gamespot "let go" due to his Kane & Lynch review.  Sure, some things he has said and they way he presented them are probably things people may not agree with, but he did have a knack for giving an honest take on any game he reviewed.  Unfortunately, Edios didn't think his review of their game was good enough, threw a hissy fit, and threatened to pull their ad campaign from everything related to Gamespot.  Of course, no one on Kotaku still knows if he left on his own terms or was fired...

Ever since that incident, reading game reviews by big-name gaming sources hasn't seemed the same, nor have they felt completely honest... that's why I take game review scores with a grain of salt these days.  Seeing all of the high scores for Sims 3 really doesn't phase me much now that I only rely mostly on non-"professional" reviews for honest opinions... at least they don't have a possible wad of money dangling in front of them when they tell you the scoop.  Cheesy

That is very true, Tenshi.

Kaoz, I agree with you. And wow, my downloads folder is the same size (13.2gb). Overall, it's 19gb. I can't imagine switching to a more limited platform at this point. Sims 3 needs a good year or two before I consider it.
89  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: I'm I the only one who would rather just keep playing sims 2. on: June 04, 2009, 05:42:56 pm
I will definitely stick with Sims 2, also.

The funny thing is: I let my sister try the Sims 3 and she played for only 5 mins before she got up and said she was bored. Now that's terrible. And she's a Sims 2 addict.

I personally have been trying to enjoy the game, but I think it's terrible. Gameplay is quite unappealing and static. And I can imagine EA trying to sell us millions of dollars worth of custom content. I have no interest in buying their junk.

Overall, I'd give the game a 4/10. As other users have said, it surprises me when I see gamer magazines giving this 'game' a 90 rating. I imagine they're being payed in some way by EA. Makes me loose my respect for those magazine companies as well...
90  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: What Kind of EP's or SP's would you like to see for the Sims 3? on: June 04, 2009, 01:15:02 am
I would actually prefer to see more expansions for Sims 2.
