436  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / How many Angelina Jolie Sims do we need? on: November 16, 2007, 07:44:12 am
Yes, I'm a bit tired of Angelina, myself. I don't think she's that great an actress (forgive me for my heresy), and I don't even think she's that attractive.
I've been trying (without complete success) to clone my own version of Diana, Princess of Wales-yeah, I know she's dead...but she was far prettier and more personable than some of the "celebrities" they're doing on the various boards and sites.
The problem is that I can't find a decent near enough hair mesh to use on her-I have everything almost right, but not close enough. Nobody cares to make her-and I would suggest it, but I'm sure that she's not "interesting" enough to do a Sim of-but she would be my #1 download.

Of course I could be proven wrong by some adventurous mesher-but I haven't seen one, yet.
437  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Which do you prefer? Free will on or off? on: November 16, 2007, 07:33:40 am
I always play with free will on. I hate micro-managing my sims (unless they're being really obnoxious)-but I don't let them get away with everything!
438  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Pregnant Sims Wear Anything Hack on: November 13, 2007, 09:39:30 pm
The last time I checked, there was no Sims2 graveyard-it's gone, disappeared. With that, I think you lost the link there was left for the mod, unless someone has them in their stash. It's a done thing-I do believe that not even Pescado has anything similar to it.

JudeMG, I'm sure that every single game company in existence would die to have an idea that would blow the Sims franchise into the etherworld; it takes a very rare and unusual talent to spot a winning idea that will translate into the biggest game of all time.
It also takes money-to pay people to create something that even comes close. There have been replicas, copycats and the like, and nobody yet has come up with anything so similar to the Sims that it would seriously challenge the company.
That is why Eaxis is so fat with cash-they have the winner of the competition, and they know it. They can afford to blow off their customers, produce rotten code, and get away with it forever, because they're the "only game in town" named the Sims. As long as they hold the trademark and the intellectual copyrights to the game that they make, they own the cash cow. There's no game company in existence stupid enough to try to infringe on those, lest they get destroyed by a legion of lawyers that would get unleashed if EAxis decided to defend their copyrights.
440  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How Do I get to be a vampire? on: November 09, 2007, 10:34:31 pm
From what I understand, you have to have Nightlife installed in the game, and then have one of the vampires who hang out in the dark alleyways bite you. I've not played it, but that's usually the way they do it.
441  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Better Graphics Card? on: November 09, 2007, 10:30:36 pm
BTW, most professional techs do have a 30 day warranty on their work, so if they screw it up,  you can bring it back to be fine-tuned.
They will probably test run it a few times to make sure the install does work, as that is the only way they'll know if it was properly done-but it shouldn't take more than a hour tops to do it.
442  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Discoveries on: November 08, 2007, 10:07:32 pm
Another discovery I made was that (I should have known you could do this) you can follow your sim around the house, while they're doing whatever by right-clicking on the image..I'd done that in the Sims 1, and didn't remember to do it until just recently. It makes for more interesting experience when you're "in the shadows" of the sim you're watching-and no more getting one lost, either!

I have another take on the game: for the first time in gaming history the gamers did not have to kill people or punch people out, lay entire cities to waste and generally destroy the entire world to meet a goal. It isn't a body count style of game, and I fear that EAxis has turned their mindset into that kind of thinking-that it has an "end-game" within itself, and therefore they're not looking to expand their minds to what we want, but what they want-which is a controlled experience in a game. I don't think they understand the entire motive of the Sims game themselves, just befuddled on how to make more money.
I'm sure they're as puzzled as all get out to understand what makes most Sim players tick-it is the basic idea that this game is not one of violence or destruction, but of growth and an expanding universe, where anything is possible. It is a living game, not a death game, where players create their innermost ideals of people and their lives, and  play out their alter egos in a structured way.
Will Wright was the genius behind the Sims idea. Sadly, he has abandoned any role in the game development except for his name being used for streets. I'm sure he's probably pretty pissed at what has happened to the series by the mistakes of the EAxis, which he had no hand in.
Perhaps they should rehire him to put them back on track-he understood better than any of them what it is all about.

Think of the entire franchise as the goose that laid the golden egg. It seems to just lay out money like crazy-they don't even have to work at it, for god's sake, and it makes money! How can they resist making the Sims 3 when they know beyond the shadow of a doubt that there'll be millions of ardent fans eagerly awaiting the Sims 3, never mind the boo-boos in Sims 2-that was just a glitch.
They pay test gamers to test the games. They don't really do anything more beyond making band-aid style corrections-hoping that the really big problems will only occur after they've made their millions. Then they will reluctantly release patches and apologize..sort of.
No. Until they change their modus operandi, there will be a lot of people who will not touch the Sims 3 until they have solved their attitude towards the really smart fanbase, which says that their games suck hard in coding.
I won't buy it until they do this, and I won't even buy any expansions until they shape up. They've had the last of my money for a while. I've got a game that works, and without any problems-but that is not due to them, it is due to my "tech support" and I being very careful to not push the envelope in hardware and software.
I can't afford their mistakes.
445  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Why r Sims so stupid ? on: November 07, 2007, 05:09:08 pm
Actually, with the help of JM Pescado's "Eye of Pescado", the baby care thing is easier-although they do pile up on things, and you still have to keep them busy. It does make me uncomfortable when they put the baby on the floor, even though I've read where it doesn't do any harm to the baby..although in real life, you'd get put in jail for child abuse, quick!
As for nannies, I've had pretty good luck with mine-one house even has round-the-clock nannies, and they don't all go into the swimming pool. They do their job and then leave. It's those maids you gotta watch out for, always hanging around and looking for some excitement.
I hate the weeds, though..they pop up everywhere.
By the way, MATY does have a "no-whine" hack that eliminates alot of the whining that the Sims do when they're really being aggravated.
446  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Discoveries on: November 07, 2007, 05:01:39 pm
I just discovered the "teleport here" mode-what a great little discovery; nice graphics, too. Wonder why I hadn't used it, for it would be nice if everyone in the family was present for the birthday party!
447  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / What would you like to see In Sims3 on: November 06, 2007, 12:43:33 pm
Ah-the Sims 3; I don't even know if I'm that interested, but here goes my list:

Better autonomy-no need to tell the sim to go to the bathroom (more than now necessary) to the point of "accidents", or to put down that damn baby!
Better facial expression-some of the incredibly stupid expressions I have never seen on a human being!
More job opportunities-more careers.
Less focus on female Sim stuff. They're not the only gender.
More design features for building.
More design features for furniture.
Better CAS face features-those that are not exaggerated.
Better Townies-make them prettier, smarter and less aggravating.
Easier "transition" stages for growth, and longer stages. Everyone I know grew up in 20 years to be an adult, not 10.
Use of some of the best hacks or mods in the community to enhance game play-they could even ask some of the more talented creators from Insim and MTS to help out! NO TRS creators except a very few brilliant and unsung heros.
No more Securom or anti-priracy software installed without permission of the computer's owner-if that has to be there, let the owner decide if they want to screw up their game irretrievably; not EA.
Include everything that they would have in any EP before, and thus eliminate the need to shell out for more stuff-idealistic and probably not realistic.

All that and the moon. Doubt if EA will read these messages, they will do damn well what they want, which is why I shall wait and see what kind of garbage they are capable of producing.
448  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Custom Content help. on: November 05, 2007, 06:36:01 am
The yellow triangle is the Maxis code for "this stuff didn't come from us" warning that comes from The Exchange-and it might screw up your game, or it might not.
I don't know if it will do any harm to enable it, but it is custom content, and it might..or might not. Depends on what your computer can handle, and if you want to risk it.
Caveat Emptor.
449  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Adding Careers/Majors on: November 04, 2007, 05:24:50 pm
Because a lot of them have coding that seeps into your game and messes it up royally. I know-I've deleted about half of mine (I'm hoping that is all I need to do-sorry, I can't live without one or two!) and it works better now; but if I have to, I'll delete all of them and keep on the safe side.
I don't know exactly what kind of coding does what, but it is a major problem when your sims develop a jump bug from it, or other catastrophes-such as freezing, or crashing. Not a good thing to do.
450  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Dina and Nina C- are they twins? on: November 02, 2007, 06:07:48 am
I think they are twins-only because they are the same age in the original extracted download that I got from another site..the infamous board of nefarious distinction. They are aged the same, so that would have to mean they're twins..just like Bella and Michael are in the same way.
