46  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Pleasantview help? on: July 08, 2010, 07:01:05 pm
Are you sure you don't have any files in your NH folder? By that, I mean-character or lot files?

If you don't have any files in that folder, toss it out and do this, instead-go into your actual Drive C: where your actual game files are-under:

Program Files>EA Games>Sims2>TS Data>Res>User Data>Neighborhoods

You will find the original neighborhoods as they were shipped. (unless of course you have empty templates and if you do, hope you know where the originals are.)

Neighborhood 1 is Pleasantview
Neighborhood 2 is Strangetown
Neighborhood 3 is Veronaville

Sorry for your loss, but stuff happens!
Hope this helps..and you might want to in the future make backup copies of any hood you're playing in case the unthinkable happens again.

48  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Two neighborhood and building questions on: July 03, 2010, 12:22:29 pm
In answer to your first question-that's normal-a lot will not occupy all of the squares, and if you "break the rules" according to the game, it might not work if you save the lot and reuse it.
What I think you saw were "fake buildings" that were put on the NH view to make it look like the entire lot was occupied-when in fact it is not.

In answer to the second one-Terrain mods usually require 2 different sets of terrain changes-one of the floors for the front of the lots, another for the NH view, and ordinary flooring.
You should have a grass and road replacement terrain to replace that of the NH itself.

This is what I have in my DL folder for a medieval hood:

Dirtroad&grass Replacement terrain
8 floor tiles, all named "DirtRoad" (1-8)

This one is by Sunni9676 from MTS-she had one, and there's another few over there if you care to look for them.

For many months I've wondering how long it would take EAxis to actually activate their spyware, which they had planned in advance with the EADM. Why else would they demand that you be actively connected all the time to their servers?

This is why you don't ever, ever want to be connected to the Internets while playing any game.
Plus, one might want to make sure all financial information (credit card numbers and the like) is off the computer while you're connected. Never can tell what they're actually reading-and they will never tell you.

51  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Re: Issues with MATY/AwesomeMod? on: June 27, 2010, 12:39:53 pm
I have read at Simbology that MATY is having some sort of technical difficulties right now. I know PMBD is, because the site won't even load.
So all we can do is wait until Pescado finds put who/what the problem is.
52  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF: Hack that allows families/multiple sims to be invited over? on: June 24, 2010, 08:35:10 pm
I think it must have come with either OFB or Seasons-I have both, and did not have the option until I installed those.
53  Simmers' Paradise / Mods & Careers / Re: Visit A Sim? on: June 18, 2010, 04:40:45 am
For a number of years I'd been hearing about the "community time project" which was made by Crammyboy-I'd been intrigued and interested in it-but deterred by the fact that it requires at least Pets to play it.
I now have Seasons and am now using it. I can understand the excitement this mod generated when it was first released, and am puzzled as to why more people are not using it, because it is so much more hood integrating than I'd ever heard of.
Because you can visit community lots, and still control the other half of the home base at the same time-what a cool concept, and it certainly is fun to be able to do both actions at once.
The only reason I mention this mod is that it is as close to the "visit sim" mod as one will get without using both.
I found that the "visit sim" mod is still a bit in the rough territory for the moment, and hope to use it once a couple of the kinks get worked out.
54  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: stained glass dome on: June 17, 2010, 08:53:33 pm
There is a Eastern Orthodox church for download at VItaSims that has 3 size gold domes on it-however, the original mesh was by someone at MTS, who has taken it off the downloads.
I don't know if that's what you're looking for, but I guess it's close enough, maybe?
55  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: So I spoke with an employee of EA Sims 3 team today.. on: May 31, 2010, 08:43:31 pm
Ah, but that's where you're wrong (as I am, and every Sims 2 player, according to all the Sims 3 fans)-EA can do no wrong, and everything they do is magic. Every release is perfect, and all patches are good.

You wanna bridge, slightly used? I got one for you.
56  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: So I spoke with an employee of EA Sims 3 team today.. on: May 30, 2010, 10:47:20 pm
There is a point about this game that everyone overlooks-that most of the time, the player has the EADM installed and running on their computer. I wonder how much of that is causing so many problems? Does it add that extra edge of borkedness that causes games to crash? I think it is half of the problem. Because the EADM does have Securom, and it's been proven to mess computers up..(remember that, Paden? You should! cool)
But I will admit that I have not seen such a consistent failure rate on any game lately-this one is failing all across the board-gameplay, graphics, and technical use. It's just such a mess I doubt that the original Maxis team could or even would dare to touch it with a ten foot pole. It's just really beyond salvaging.
Every so often I go onto the Sims 3 board to see if the complaints have died off. No-and they're getting to the point now that if the next release of any patch does not correct some of the problems, there are going to be a lot of very angry and disappointed players who just might throw their game in the trash, and never buy another EA game in their lives.
It's that serious. EA had best make a damned good patch this time, or they're losing the entire shebang.
On a more personal note, I wrote an editorial at RYG just before the release of Sims 3, warning everyone that they might be very disappointed with the game and why.
I was right then, and I am right now. EA is betting the farm of the Sims franchise on this one EP, I think, and if it doesn't work, I think they're going to slow down the EP's they release and go to on-line play within the next year.
But that doesn't mean their players will. We'll see what happens on June 1st and afterwards. It'll be interesting to watch if EA can redeem themselves. I don't really hold out any hope for it, though.

Criquette at MTS made some neighborhood decorations that seem to fit your request:

Marina piers and boats set
Modest Embankment Set
Ferry Mini Set

58  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: My game crashes, please help! on: May 20, 2010, 08:46:53 pm
I'm going to suggest something a bit radical:

Start from scratch-by that I mean: rename your EA Games folder to make it not load up in your game(something like "EA Games.bad files"); then make a new folder for EA Games. Start the game. Run it vanilla for a bit. (save your hoods that you want by putting them into another safe place-desktop would be good)
Then: very carefully, and with some planning, put back your CC that you really want, and know that will not crash the game.
After this, the next step is the most time consuming: just for fun, make a file in the downloads folder titled "Before install downloads"(or whatever you want..it serves as a testing point for your CC. (actually, you could make this folder and use it for all your new CC.)
With every single file you think might be causing the crash, (and individually, as well), run the game.
It will probably show up in this effort-and yes, it will be laborious-it will take time. But by doing this, you will have trimmed down your CC and also debugged the game.
You don't have to do this-but it sounds like a very mixed up mess that you have in your game, and it's not going to work very well without something radical such as regenerating the game.
59  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Sapphiresims2 Gone Where? on: May 20, 2010, 08:28:56 pm
It's true-the site has been moved to a new server, and the only possible way to perhaps get it into your browser is to clear your DNS cache, according to the redirect. (which may or may not work.)
Or else wait until they open for business-moving is such a pain-and I'm sure that they're just putting everything in the right place for the new house.

Update: SapphireSims seems to be up again-probably just did some housekeeping.
60  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Deleting files from within the game on: May 17, 2010, 05:04:06 pm
It will be deleted from your game, not your computer. The file only exists unzipped in the game-unless you threw the zipped version away after you put in it into the game.
