1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / summer is missing on: October 18, 2007, 03:32:19 pm
i made a thread before trying to figure out why my game wasnt working, thinking it was because of the custom content, but it wasnt.  i searched through all the old thread here and decided to just uninstall everything and reinstall it freshly.

i restalled sims2 and all of expansions (uni,nl,ofb, ffs, gls, pets, and seasons), in the proper order.  i installed the newest seasons patch from the sims 2 site.  i installed custom content and checked to make sure there would be no conflicts using that nifty lil program that does that.  it came back clean.  i used delphys organiser to put everything in lil folders neatly like her program named them to be.

i started a group of young adults in seasons to go to university.  they started school in the summer and graduated in the spring.  everything went smoothly.  now that they have graduated and returned home, i put them on a lot to build their own adult home and the lil season marker by the zoom and spin buttons is screwed up.  instead of going summer, fall, winter, spring.  it goes winter, fall, spring, winter.  now the game crashes all the time and wont let me build a home or play an already created family lot either, cause the seasons in the towns are messed up.

how do i correct this?  how do i fix the seasons in the towns to make them go summer, fall, winter, spring like they are supposed to?  i wish i had a screen shot to show you but the game freezes when i try to do that function.  wont allow me to do it.  it locks my computer up completely to the point where i cant even get taskmanger to come up to get the game to end when it quits responding.  i have to hold the power button to the tower to shut down the comp to get off the game.  its horrible to my comp.

i need to fix this.  is there any way to fix this?  has anyone else heard of this problem before?  should i post at the sims 2 site as well?  i hate posting there though cause they are so clinical and runaround instead of give me answers.  any help would be wonderful.  thank you guys for your time and suggestions.  Smiley
2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Can someone please help with the squinge hack on: October 08, 2007, 07:55:02 pm
*hugs external harddrive holding all backed uped downloads*  i love this lil box.  makes making mistakes easier to fix

but yeah, there is no info with those mods, nothing about them but the filename, so everything is iffy and you have to be careful.  there is no support, no help, no one to explain or anything, just files there for those that remember what they were for and willing to take the chance to try to use them at their own risk.
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims disconnect my internet on: October 07, 2007, 06:34:32 pm
when sims is running, what other processes are running?  maybe something else that kicks on to help with the sims is kicking off the internet, like a program with the videocard or soundcard or something, i dont know.  just something to check out next time you are playing and alt/tab to no connection.  i love how useful notepad can be for writting down all that stuff and saving it like a log so you can share it with others.  make a before and after log of whats running.  see what changes, if anything, other than the sims being on.
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Can someone please help with the squinge hack on: October 07, 2007, 06:25:30 pm
dont know if we are supposed to do this, but i found out from another place that you can find squinges mods, well some, at a place called the sims 2 graveyard.  they have no support, so if they arent working right or not at all, you just have to remove them from your game, there is no one to fix it for you.  use at your own risk basically.

anyways, here is the url http://files.sims2graveyard.com/squinge/pregnancywear/
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / game keeps freezing on: October 07, 2007, 06:18:34 pm
the thing is, the clothes and hair, are all the same things i had before when i only had up to pets and it ran fine.  like mostly marvines alpha skirt and heels meshes clothes cause i just adore thoses meshes.  i dont understand why they wouldnt work in seasons.  i tried it with only the marvine clothes recolors and still it freezes.  so thats only two meshes and a handfull of recolors that i really like plus the cep or cce or whatever that handydandy lil color thingy is called.  i probably need to update it since i havent in a year i think.  last one i got was 3.Huh? or something.

wow, just checked, one came out on the 6th, version 7.0b actually.  mine was way out of date.  could that have been the problem the whole time?  wont find out till i get home later.  babysitting my niece for the next couple of hours right now.

well, i removed everything from my downloads but custom color enabler thingy, it ran fine.  i installed some hair, it locked up.  i removed the hair.  i added some clothes, it locked up.  i removed the clothes.  i added some skins, it locked up.  i removed the skins.  i have no global or any mods that change things like squinges or insim installed cause i figured those would lock it up as well.

i need a new copy of xp, that will have to wait though cause i dont have the money for that right now, specially not with the holidays coming up and nieces and nephews with puppydog eyes always saying im their favorite auntie.  but ill get it eventually.

till then i can play the game bare bones, but i hate the clothes that come with the game, thats what 85% of my downloads are.  bah.  thanks for your help anyways.

btw, i dont have internet at home if i hadnt told you already.  i check these type sites at my moms and brother inlaws houses when im over visiting my nieces mostly, sometimes i see a nephew or two at my brother inlaws.

its Xp, and the geforce 5500 has 256mb of ram

but, its done on fat32 instead of ntfs which i dont like.  i have the game on the default display settings.  i think what im gonna have to do is just swipe all personal info off the comp onto the external harddrive i have, (it, mouse and keyboard are the only usb connected devices), before just reinstalling xp all together.

but first ill try a good oldfashion defragging.  thank you

my game was working just fine.  hadnt downloaded or added any new custom content.  hadnt changed anything to it, but it just started freezing and locking up my computer when i pause while playing to set up chains of comands for my sims, or if i choose buy or build mode.  it will allow me to be paused/buy/build mode for a while, sometimes longer than others.  never long enough to build a home.

i checked through the threads here for similar threads, found a thread that talked about a program that detects conflicting hacks that could cause such a problem.  i downloaded and ran the program, it found nothing.

there was a blurb in a thread about the amount of cc you have that could effect aswell, i checked and i have less than 50megabytes of stuff in my downloads folder.  so i dont think thats the problem either.

i dont know whats wrong.  anyone have any other ideas of what i should look for and check out?

i have up to seasons, over a gig of ram, a nvidia gforce550 i think its called its on the approved list, and when i run sims i turn off all the other programs like the book says to do so the game can access more of the computer.  i dont know what else to do.  it was working just fine for ever it seemed like, and just out of the blue started this freezing.

10  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Women / Recolor of a very beautiful formal :P ~TAKEN DOWN~ on: July 09, 2007, 02:38:48 pm
you have to host the pics first, like tinypic.com or photobucket.com.  unless you add them as an attachement to the post, then the site uploads them from your c drive just like it did the rar file
11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Squinge and his mods on: June 28, 2007, 09:35:18 pm
seems Squinge and the mods that help him run his portion of the forum have disappeared.  i posted a thread needing help in his help section and the next day everything got locked.  cant reply to anything, cant make new threads.  i havent seen any of his helper mods online in days either, ive been checking the whose online section when i logon.

just wondering what happened?  thought maybe some of the other mods or admins might know.  i understand that he does all this hardwork in his free time and has a real life that need attending.  just would like a sticky when something comes up that its gonna be closed for a while for whatever the reason maybe.

thank you for your time, sorry to be a bother.
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / bottom fallen out of the fooddishes on: June 24, 2007, 07:31:57 pm
ive been using the bottomless fooddish mods since Squinge uploaded them to the site here for everyone.  have worked great until recently.

last night i was having trouble with my game, fixed that trouble today.  in the process of trying to find what was wrong i downloaded the hack conflict thingy to see if that might have been the problem causing my game to crash, but it wasnt.  it didnt show any mods conflicting with the bottomless bird/wormrat food or dog/cat food dishes mods.  downloaded the sims2 pack clean installer and found my games problem was a cereal box download.  it was the only mod i deleted from my downloads file.  after deleting it, my game started working again, but now the food dishes empty and get dirty.

i checked and both mods for the full dishs are still in the downloads folder.  why would they stop working like that?  im so confused.

help Sad  please

It will also do that if you have a download that is for an expansion pack you don't have. If the downloads you got last had one in there for Seasons, it will do that also, I figured out finally...

ill check momma but i dont think i have any downloads that are for seasons.  im gonna remove the download folder and go through one by one till i find the problem.  there isnt that many in there thankfully.
