1  Resident Creators / Marvine's Slimmer Bodybuilder / Re: Louis@Simcribbling series 7 skintones linked to the slimmer bodybuilder. on: April 11, 2009, 06:31:07 am
I know I'm late but I just wanted to pop in and say you have my condolences for your loss, Wirelessguy.  Thank you very much for the work you've shared.  It's much appreciated and I'm sorry I haven't been around to say so sooner.
2  Retired Creators / Custom Body Meshes / Re: Please post Bug Reports and Help Requests Here on: April 10, 2009, 09:51:13 am
Edit:  I did the old "process of elimination" trick and discovered my problem wasn't your slimbb mesh/skins after all, but a hair conversion I downloaded the same day.  So sorry about that.

Anyone having problems with their bodybuilders or other sims mysteriously losing their scalps at certain ages or states of fitness should try going through their latest hair meshes.  You could have my problem!  Rock Grin
3  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Apartment Life- EP 8? on: June 09, 2008, 08:57:23 am
I was very excited about this ep until I read up on the version of securom they're using.  Even without the ten day registration crap there's still the problem of it destroying our computer functionality on top of this "limited installation" shit.

If I want disposable games I'll pick up free demo discs at my local game store.  I travel so I install my sims games on both my desktop and laptop computers, so that's two installs down right off the bat, plus when I upgrade to another system or if something goes wrong that requires a reinstall, such as hard system crashes (which happens a lot to the average consumer!)

I expect my games to work unless broken.  Having to buy new copies because the company is being anal and trying to sell me a product with no significant lifespan is unacceptable.  They're blindly shooting bullets and hitting their loyal and legitimate customers while utterly missing the intended target.  This won't hurt the pirates, it will hurt the law abiding consumers.

Wow, this is amazing!  Finally realistic tootsies for our sims!  Thank you for sharing this.
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Bon Voyage killed bodyshop. on: November 06, 2007, 03:56:04 am
That's really odd.  I was going to make the same suggestion as trl, as I forgot to change my BS desktop shortcut from the Pets version to Seasons when it came out and I had a problem like that.  If you've tried that I'm not sure what to tell you.  The only other thing I can think of is to try deleting your thumbnails folder and accessory cache as well.  Sometimes that fixes glitches in BS for me.
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Can't use move_objects on vacation community lot on: November 06, 2007, 03:39:42 am
I have the perfect plants hack and haven't noticed any conflicts in my game.  Either I've simply been lucky or the seasons version of the hack is fine.

Jinyc read my mind: enable buy mode with InSIM or boolprop hacks on community lots if you have to.  By default buy and build mode are disabled in live mode on community lots so naturally move_objects on won't work unless you use a cheat of some sort.
7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Packaging in-game sims now that we can't use simpe? on: November 05, 2007, 04:46:07 am
I agree Beos, but I'm not trying to share the sim in question.  I was just trying to find a way to save him so that I have a backup version for my own use, because I really like him.  If I were to share him it would be after SimPE was updated and again useable to extract sims.  Typically to share an in-game sim, I extract with SimPE, clone him, delete the extracted version and then package him.  I can't do that even for my own use right now, though.

Looks like Sadie might have found a solution for me, hooray!  Thank you, I'll backup my neighborhoods and try it out.
8  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Packaging in-game sims now that we can't use simpe? on: October 29, 2007, 07:20:37 pm
I tried my idea and it didn't seem to work.  Can anyone think of another way to package a sim born in the game without SimPE?  I've googled until I couldn't google anymore but the only results my searches have given me are tutorials on SimPE.

*sigh* I'm not one to rush creators but I really wish we could get an eta on the BV version of SimPE.  I didn't fully appreciate how much I used the features for sims until now.
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Packaging in-game sims now that we can't use simpe? on: October 25, 2007, 07:55:41 pm
I'm sorry if this question has already been asked elsewhere...I searched but found nothing.  Simpe doesn't work with BV and I'd like to package a sim of mine that was born in game.  Since I haven't seen any word on when simpe will be updated, I don't know how long it will be before I can use the extraction method.  I'm kind of afraid to play the sim in question because I don't want anything to happen to him before I can make a copy, so I'm trying to work out how to do it without the use of simpe.

I'm thinking of packaging the lot that he's in and using the clean installer to try and install ONLY the sim, but I've never tried that and don't know if it will work.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks!
10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Beach lots.... on: September 19, 2007, 05:21:18 am
You need lot space close enough to the ocean to build a beach lot.  I'm pretty sure the neighborhood that comes with OFB (Blue Village, I think) will allow it, but most of the other old maxis 'hoods don't have roads positioned close enough to the water.  You can look online for custom neighborhoods that people design specifically for beach lots.  I've noticed a few of them at MTS2.
11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Graphics card help on: September 19, 2007, 05:17:32 am
I caved and took the chance on a Geforce 8600 GT, figuring that if my problem with the Radeon x1650 was caused by my computer, we could put the new Geforce in hubby's machine.  Lucky me, it's running great and I haven't had any problems, so obviously the fault of the issues with the last card was with the card itself.

It's a pity because I always picked Radeons first, before.  Now they've lost a customer in me for their lack of support when I was having problems with their product.

There's no point in this thread anymore, so if the mods want to close it, go for it. Smiley
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Graphics problems only after installing Bon Voyage- why? (video caption included) on: September 18, 2007, 08:33:09 pm
I had the same problem when Seasons came out, and since installing more RAM I haven't had the issue.

edit: I just looked and saw that you've got over two gigs of ram, so getting more probably wouldn't help you. Sad
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Graphics card help on: September 18, 2007, 08:14:57 pm
That's been done, but thanks.  I've given up on that card and just want advice on which of the supported cards I should look into trying next.
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Graphics card help on: September 18, 2007, 03:18:13 pm
Months ago I tried to update my Sapphire Radeon x300 card to a Radeon x1650 pro, but when attempting to play TS2 or World of Warcraft, the computer would go into hybernation after only a few minutes of play.  I chalked this up to a power supply issue and put my old card back in until I could upgrade my power supply.

The other day I put in a 600w power supply, a further gig of RAM and tried installing the newer card again.  I had the same problem.  I've tried everything from updating my chipset to running temp checks and I've found nothing that would explain this issue.  Someone made a suggestion to me that so far is the only thing which makes sense: it's possible that my motherboard isn't capable of supplying the 450w of power that the new Radeon requires, so my expensive uber new power supply isn't doing me a lot of good on that front.  I know it's not a corrupted motherboard because I have no trouble when I use my old card.

So now I'm looking at other cards, possibly less powerful ones to upgrade to.  Either that, or a graphic card that has an external power supply and thus doesn't rely on the motherboard for its juice.  What I need is for some of the good folks here at InSIM that are good with computer parts to advise me on which of the cards supported by Maxis I should be looking into.  I need something better than the x300 Sapphire I'm using, but one that either does not require 450w or more OR is not reliant upon the motherboard for power.

Here are my computer specs, followed by the list from the official TS2 site of supported video cards.  Any advise from video card gurus would be greatly appreciated!

15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / anyone else NOT having problems? on: September 16, 2007, 05:17:23 pm
I only had one problem with blank wants after installation, because I somehow overlooked my old version of "teen whoohoo" when taking hacks out for troubleshooting.

I think a lot of people are having problems because they don't want to go without their favorite hacks and they're not properly testing them/checking the forums to find out which ones are problematic and which aren't.  It should be common sense by now that big hacks like insim and inteen are NOT going to be compatible with new ep's, so it kind of amazes me that so many people refuse to take them out and then complain when their games go kablooey.
