2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / 5g and counting on: July 03, 2008, 02:04:30 am
Hey!

Mine is a little over 5 gigs. Last fall I even bought a bigger hard drive so that playing the game wouldn't drag my computer down. At least that was my excuse anyway Smiley. My husband still hasn't that figured out. I am a download-aholic and proud of it! More stuff! More stuff!
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Another 12 hour clock solution on: July 03, 2008, 01:56:49 am
While searching for a solution to why I suddenly couldn't enter any of my custom houses, I started looking through the error log files. In "my documents\ea games\the sims 2\Logs\(yourcomputername)-config-log.txt" file, I found this approximately on line 137:

''boolProp   force12HrTime false''

It had nothing to do with my original problem. But, it pointed me to another fix. Editing the registry with the  Sims2 clock mod found on MTS2 had not solved the problem of having to constantly force 12 hour clock on in game options. So I decided to try adding this to my userStartup.cheat file located in "my documents\ea games\the sims 2\config" folder:

''boolProp   force12HrTime true''

It works!!!! And you don't have to constantly reset this in game options every time you play the game. I was so excited! I figured something out for myself and didn't screw my game up in the process. Yeah!

On this site and others there's plenty of help on how to create your own userStartup.cheat file, if you don't already know how. Anyway,...Hope this helps someone else.
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Swings are gone! on: March 01, 2008, 09:01:30 am
I found another bug in BV. Or maybe it's not a bug, but my swings are gone. At first I thought I was looking in the wrong catagory, but I've been playing this game since it came out, so that wasn't it. I tried to reinsert them with default swings from DJSims web page, but it didn't work. Anyone have any ideas? Could something be overwriting them? How do I find out.

Help!
Thanks

6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Hotel Hell, I mean Help! on: February 24, 2008, 03:15:34 am
Can anyone give good suggestions on what it takes to build a good working hotel. Every time I try to build a community lot, no one comes to it. I put in all the right things, doors, cooks, the major domo or whatever you call him, bathrooms...but no one shows up. So I know I'm doing something wrong. To me, they look great on the outside. But obviously, the Sims don't think so.  Any ideas, pointers? I'd really appreciate them

Thanks
7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Special Lot? on: February 24, 2008, 03:10:06 am
I've got two questions, actually. One's been buggin' me for a while. When you go to choose lots in BV, there's a choice of Beach or Special Lot. What exactly is a Special Lot and how do you make one?
8  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Neighborhoods / I've reach mecca! on: February 12, 2008, 04:14:37 pm
Thank you soooo much! I'm so happy! I would never have thought of coming to inseminator.net for hoods. I usually hang around for the mods and the program. But I have found mecca! I've been looking for flat beach lots to play around with. I like building BIG beach mansions and these seem like I'll have more than enough room. None of the other "millions" of places i've searched and downloaded from seemed to work. So thank you.
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: "juzi's" glitch on: September 21, 2007, 11:35:04 pm
I had the same type of thing going on when I first installed BV. I did a clean install from start to finish. I was all excited, then frustrated, then pissed. My error had to do with "daemon software  or tools conflict". I didn't have any of that on my computer. I practically took my computer back down to the bare minimum. Nothing worked and Maxis tech. was no help. I was so frustrated, I wanted to cry. I couldn't play the damned game I'd been waiting for. Never had any problems like that before. But I also felt pretty stupid crying because I couldn't play my "dumb" game.

Then, I had an idea! Since  the game thought I had a virtual drive somewhere when I didn't, why not use one. I went to one of 'those' gaming sites. I got a copy of the no cd hack, (I mean patch Wink). It worked!

So, now I play my game  with the no cd patch and my original cd is safe from wear and tear. Everybody's happy! sooo.....try the no cd patch. hope it helps

10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / inseminator spawns, Help! on: September 20, 2007, 03:00:44 am
Check out this picture! I entered a hotel lot that i'd just finished. At first I noticed one inseminator on the corner of the house, hidden behind  a deck. I thought it was funny, 'cause I didn't remember putting one on the lot.  So, I wasn't even using the inseminator. In fact, I didn't even think I installed the latest version yet. I shrugged and kept playing. Then I happened to notice on the other corner of the lot, there were a whole bunch spanning the left side of the hotel. I even saw them as they just kept popping up. I thought it was kind of funny. Hopefully by re-installing the new version that won't happen again.

This is a handsome 2-story Estate, with a garage, eat-in kitchen, laundry, a formal dining room, library and greatroom. It's been minimally decorated with Maxis items to indicate  which room is which.

1 fl - master bedroom has its own entertainment area, walk-in closet and nice master bath. Also included is an extra room to be used as a study or nursery.

2 fl - 3 bedrooms, each with it's own private bath and walk-in closet area.
