2  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Error message on: September 06, 2008, 09:01:54 am
I've just installed AL today and was it was working ok (not cc) but after a while it crashed with the message "Sims 2 Apartment Life was terminated as Direct 3D returned error D3DERR-NOTAVAILABLE"

There is nothing in my game - hacks, objects no cc whatsoever.

Also there is no error log in the Sims 2 Logs folder.

It's happened three times at different stages of game play, in different hoods and with different families.

What is going on? Can anyone help : )

5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Help! Computer restarts when i try and play on: August 10, 2008, 02:20:23 am
Hi,
My game has been working perfectly and all of a sudden every time I press play (in the Freetime play dialog box) my computer restarts.

When it boots back up it says "Windows has recovered from a serious error" :hammer:

It's not a CC problem because i have removed it all and it still won't play.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the disc because I have the Anygame Starter installed and that still works using the same configuration as my normal game.

My system specs are as follows (if this helps anyone):
Windows XP
Intel Core2 Duo
2.4 Ghz
2 GB RAM
300 GB HD (

I am currently running Sims 2 Deluxe, Uni, OFB, Pets, Seasons, BV, FT expansions and Celebration, H&M, Holiday & Teen Style Stuff packs.

I just don't know what is wrong :dontknow:, should i just reinstall???

10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What stuff pack has more worth? on: July 18, 2008, 12:47:03 am
The trailers often show things that aren't actually included so beware of choosing a pack off the contents you saw in a trailer. You should look at the stuff pack contents lists on the sims 2 site.

I have Teen Style Stuff and it I love it, I love the theme furniture its great for nursery's, children and teen rooms and it does have some nice clothes in there too. Smiley

OFB sucks the business thing gets old quick, i think i actually ran a business once.

Seasons is good because it does add more realism to the game however like in real life weather can be annoying especially winter.

Freetime is probably my favourite expansion pack but you will need to download some small mods to stop the annoying hobby calls and secret club visitors.

Like all of the expansion packs they are all good in there own way and it really depends on what your looking to add to your game - i suggest reading some other threads where people have asked the same question to get an idea of the value of each expansion pack. Smiley

13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / What Should I Do? on: July 15, 2008, 09:50:49 pm
Hi,
You really can't just leave it in there, you should take it all out before you install your new expansion packs, just moving it to desktop or whatever is ok for the moment.

If you have any hacks or mods in your game you will have to check they are compatible with your new expansion packs and download the updated version for those expansion packs.

Most of your objects, skins and such should work with the new expansion packs, some exceptions apply though like custom computers, bookcases - they will not have the new option available in the university expansion pack.

I also recommend installing your downloads back in, in sections to check for conflicts.

Hope this helps. Smiley
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I need help!! on: July 15, 2008, 09:39:42 pm
If have checked the thread the V.2 is posted in and it doesn't say any expansion packs are required so i would assume that it requires none and that installing it with the CleanInstaller should resolve your problem.

If it still won't install let me know. Smiley
15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I need help!! on: July 15, 2008, 08:15:44 am
Hi,
That message happens when the files you are trying to install require an expansion or stuff pack you don't have.

First of all you should check that the sims you are trying to download don't require any expansion packs you don't have. If you have all the required expansion packs then i suggest installing the sims2pack files using the CleanInstaller found here it is much more efficient than the maxis installer.

If you have the right expansion packs and installing it with the CleanInstaller doesn't work im not sure what else you can do. Hope this helps. Smiley
