No, rwills i have been playing sims for years i no how to download, it's just if it's not made with Simpe it doesn't show up. I know how to unzip. Thanks for all your help, anything else that can help?

Well, there is one thing you can try. Don't know why it works, but it sometimes does (and will do no harm regardless).

When you open the game, whatever your custom content screen is set to, set it to the other option and enter the game proper.

Then, in game options, whatever the custom content settings are, set them to the other option and quit the game.

Open the game anew and reset the game option custom content settings back to as they were before. Then quit, open the game again and set the custom content screen back to the way it was before.

Sometimes this will kickstart things to as they should be.

One other thing to check is to make sure that any packages designated Collection are in the Collections folder rather than the Downloads folder.

If the problem persists, maybe asking about it at the SimPE help forum will provide clues.

i got it, now should everything work?

Think of any zip or of any rar file as a big sealed envelope.

You have to open the envelope and put its contents into your appropriate game folder(s).

Once you unzip or unrar a file, you'll have one (or many) files to put into your game. Sometimes there are additional zip files inside the original zip or rar - those would have to be opened up as well.

It is that unpacked content -- what is inside the envelope, rather than the actual envelope itself -- that the game needs in order to make the content usable.
664  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Roof Colour? on: August 30, 2008, 05:33:58 pm
Enter a lot.

Go to Build mode.

Go to Roofs in Build Mode.

One of the options there is roof color.

Click on that and choose the color you prefer for that lot's roof.

There are also additional downloadable roof colors and roof textures available at many sites that offer custom content.

As for multiple colors for roofs on the same lot - easily down with flat (tiled) roofs. Any floor tile can be used on those types of roofs. Place one tile and hold down the Shift key while dragging a box over the area of the specific roof you want to fill with that particular tile.

For non-flat roofs, don't offhand know of any mod that allows just one part of a lot's total roofed area to be colored.
665  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Graphics problem on: August 29, 2008, 09:06:23 pm
Seem to recall there was a problem like this associated with Glamour Life and with Seasons.

For some people loading a clean, naked version of the game fixed it.

Move your Downloads folder (don't delete it!) to someplace else on your computer temporarily and then open up the game and after it has fully opened then Quit.

Return the Downloads folder back where it belongs and then open up the game and see if the clean load has kicked things back into gear.
666  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Minimize window sims? on: August 29, 2008, 08:04:37 pm
You can play in windowed mode.

Right-click on the icon you use to play and choose Properties.

At the end of the address shown in the Properties data, after the .exe extension, add a space and then a hyphen and w. The end of the address will then look like this:

.exe" -w

Click OK.

The game will thenceforth open in windowed mode.

How to move Sims/families from one 'hood to another:

http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Moving_Sims

Doing so any other way will leave them with memories/wants relating to the old neighborhood, and those can and will negatively impact the game and the 'hood - if not immediately, then for sure eventually.
668  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Recent Problems downloading RAR files with WINRAR on: August 21, 2008, 06:15:09 pm
Highly recommend 7-zip:

http://www.7-zip.org/

in place of Winrar and also in place of Winzip.

As for Firefox, go to Tools--Options--General and double-check that your download preferences are actually set as you want them to be, then click OK.

EDIT: Oh, and if you haven't done it for a while, clear the Firefox Cache.  Tools--Clear Private Data. Uncheck all the boxes except the one labeled Cache and the click the Clear button.

Far from expert on this matter, but my understanding is that if you change the age to 'Independent Teen' then after that change the teen can become pregnant and deliver a child.

Without an additional hack specifically to allow teen pregnancy, regular teens should not be able to become pregnant - what may happen is that either the character will freeze and you'll have to force an error and reset to unfreeze him/her or else, possibly, the pregnancy will be hidden until the character ages up, and then may give birth almost immediately assuming a sufficient number of hours has passed since impregnation.

For extracting or unzipping files, strongly recommend http://www.7-zip.org/">7-zip. Free, safe and user-friendly.

Once you have extracted/unzipped the contents, get rid of the.zip or .rar file, or move it to storage someplace else - there is no reason to keep a .rar or a .zip file in your Downloads folder.

For Sims2Pack files, strongly recommend using http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/">Clean Installer to open and install them. The Sims installer can sometimes be glitchy and troublesome at times with custom files. Additionally, Clean Installer offers the option of just installing the lot without (or with just selected)  custom content or hacks.

And, as above, once the Sims2Pack file has been installed, delete it or move it to storage - it serves no function sitting in the Downloads folder.

Just my 2¢.
671  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / reflective floors/walls? on: August 06, 2008, 06:14:09 pm
The reflective walls and floors are from a set by Murano:

http://www.muranomobilia.com/products/others/millenium/millenium.html

I believe they are now stored for download at TSR (there should be a direct link to them at Murano's page, above).

EDIT:

Should add that, sometimes, the reflective tile effects are not included as a part of custom lot downloads  (even if shown in sample pix of the lot), but have to be installed independently - they are found under Decorative-Mirrors and need to be placed on top of existing floor or wall tiles, respectively, in Buy Mode.
672  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Pie Menu Shuffling - Possible? on: August 01, 2008, 08:03:31 pm
With lots (probably too many!) of custom foods now downloaded and available within my game, a question:

Is there a method (or a tool) to re-arrange the order in which items show up in the pie menu?

For example, when choosing 'Make Many--Group Meals' the foods more or less show up in order of installation - newest to oldest to Maxis.

Would prefer to be able to arrange them, for example, into meal order -- soups and salads (as many clicks of 'More' as it takes to get through allof those) then main dishes/full meals (again, I realize it will take re-clicking 'More' to get through them all), then desserts (ditto on the 'More' thing), just to make it a tad more efficient in finding a particular item.

Even if there is a way to re-arrange only the order of menu appearance of custom items and not Maxis items, that would be helpful, too.

If anyone might be thinking of mentioning Delphy's organizer - well, it has never worked for me. It throws error messages and crashes any time I 've tried to run it.

Mucho thanks in advance for any assistance.
